Lots to love about cascadia. I can see why its a mega popular title. It's simple, easy to teach, has variety and keeps you engaged throughout. Not much more to say about it, just a very good game.

I played this with my 6-year-old son and his friends at Scouts last year. He'd always enjoyed board games but this one sort of turbo-charged him over the last year. Now we still play it, but we also play Chinatown -- using the same tile-token placing principles -- and even my five-year-old daughter has gotten in on it. This isn't just a gateway game, it's a beautiful invitation to engagement with ideas. I love it.

Love your reviews man. Best board game channel on YT. Sad when I look up a game and I can't have your condensed, robust take on it!

Cascadia is my favorite I can teach anyone game. As such, it’s just outside my top 5. I only watched to support you and your excellent videos. Glad you like it too.

I have used your videos many times over to give people quick ideas of what a particular board or card game is like. They are amazing. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication.

The way you just casually drop the gold medal at the end creates this moment of suspense where I'm like, "Is it... is it going to get gold?"

Cascadia is one of my all time favorites. It has found its niche with my group as either a warm up game, a pallet cleanser, or cool down game. It's super chill and a great way to calm things down after intense games. I also play solo and attempt to beat the challenges in the rule book.

Amazing prod for an amazing game! Your explanation using b&w/color is very clear and make it very easy to understand what you mean.
One thing I really like about Cascadia is its coziness. While it's a euro at heart, I can't help but feel drawn to these landscapes and fauna by my imagination. For that reason, it's a game that I love to play solo, especially since it hasn't got too much tension in it. A "feel good" game that plays to its strength.

Cheers. I'm using a new lens (well an old one i dont use much), a new table topper and the new lightbox on this video

My wife loves these simple games that are not too confrontational, so this one will stay in our collection for a long time!

This game is stunningly beautiful with fantastic components. I absolutely loved how it looked on the table.
But with each of the three different groups I played it with, we just felt flat after it. I can’t even say what it was in particular - maybe it was the lack of interaction and inconsequential nature of the selections.
I can certainly see why a lot of people love it, and perhaps it would make a fantastic addition for solo gamers or as something that ‘pops’ off the shelf.

This game is sooo boring. Zero interaction. Optimization puzzle to the max 🙁

Very true in comparing Cascadia to Calico. The Landmarks expansion to Cascadia adds new way of scoring, more animal scoring cards, and more tiles to play up to 6 players. Even at 6 players it still moves quickly.

This is my favorite kind of solo game. I was a runner so having a PR in a certain distance works well for me, or in other words, see how your score compares to the scale you yourself. Being able to not do really any extra overhead and not devote any extra brain power is my favorite kind of solo game. I know I’m in the minority on that but there you go.

The same designer designed Tabriz. I am waiting for that game!

I originally dismissed this game after thinking it would be too simple to provide rewarding play the longer it stayed in my collection. On a whim, I bought it a week ago to give it a shot with my family and it quickly rose to be one of our favorite games.
I think it hits that excellent middle ground of being simple and not too thinky to play when you need something moderately lightweight after a long day of work or if you don't have have 2 hours to spare, but also challenging enough to make meaningful decisions as you plan out your drafting and tile placement.

I know I'm not alone in this, despite all the positive reviews. This game is not fun. Why the gold medal if you yourself feel there's something missing from this game?
My opinion of Cascadia is, it's a game you can imagine other people will like more than you did. Or, a good game but I would prefer to play anything else from my collection. Sometimes you talk about a game and say about how your friends' eyes light up when you pull it out of the shelf! This is not it... I played it with my sister, friends, no one showed the least excitement about this game. We quietly counted the points at the end not really caring what the score was.
It's not a bad game! I kept it for sometime thinking it's a nice game to enjoy and relax while having a nice cup of tea. In the end, isn't having a nice conversation with your friends over tea or coffee more rewarding? How often do we get the chance to do just that?
Honestly, it's a good game but personally I cannot recommend it and would say that every time we finished playing it we were thinking what else is there to play after.
There are often these typical exaggerated comments for many euro games like, "it's a solitair! There's no player interaction! bLAh bLaH bLAh!" but in this case, I truly believe, for what this game is offering, solving a puzzle with your friends is more rewarding.
    It's not a bad game.
Edit: I hope I didn't sound mean and I understand why many people like this game, I also liked the coziness of it. Also I hope I didn't sound like I have something against puzzles. Puzzles are fun!

It's not my fav game, but its still very good. And every game that gets the Gold Medal still gets some kind of critique, nothing is perfect. And hey, your points about the game are all valid as they come from your experience. I like the puzzle it presents, i think calico has a better puzzle overall, but im definitely keeping thing one in the collection.

Cascadia is a fantastic game, very accessible to new gamers with great replayability in the different scoring options. However, I think it is quickly outgrown and won't keep experienced gamers interested .

Cascadia is one of my all-time favourites. Yes, I am biased because I love nature themed games, Beth Sobel is hands down my favourite illustrator, and I live in the Pacific Northwest, but it really is just that good.
Have you looked into the expansion at all? I love expansions as much as the next collector but I'm a little iffy on the landmarks. I don't know if they add enough to warrant the price.

I am one of those that prefer this to Calico. Calico is too much for me, too nasty. This is beer level great, I just get to sit down , relax and enjoy mapping out my little place with my friends. Best puzzle game. The expansion is poor, though it does give you more cards which I appreciate. And the effort put into it for solo play is under appreciated.

The biggest issue I have with this game is that it seems to take longer than it ought to. It has a 'filler' feel, but my (admittedly only one) 4pl game of this took about 2 hours.
That said, there is much to enjoy from this. And unlike Harmonies, this may be easier to find.

This one was just fine for me. Was not as fun as I wanted it to be and I didn't really feel like I was doing much during the game. But it was pretty, played quick enough not to be annoying, and super accessible so it definitely still rates. Possibly just a bit too abstract in comparison to my expectations too?
