The new direction is just fine with me. Appreciate all that you do. I personally loved that silver surfer book. Someday woukd love tonadd those to my collection. Just not there yet. Keep it up brandon. Ill always watch! Cheers dude
Thanks Kris! I'm so glad I got that book as my collecting will also take a new direction. You'll get one man, this wasn't too pricey so a little lower of a grade and it becomes very affordable! Thanks for watching dude!
Love the new channel direction idea. One thing that drew me into collecting comics was the deep rich history. I’ve talked about it with you before, so glad we agree on that wavelength. Keep bringing the content brother I’ll be here to watch!
I really enjoyed the preview of your new direction. These types of videos I believe will really increase your 'view length' on your videos and not have people click off early (yes I like to study analytics lol). Looking forward to you moving forward with your channel. It was great already, just because of the host! 😉 But happy you are taking it to the next level! Very excited for the future of your channel brother!
Bjorn, I am in love with the book you sent my friend. You are full of kindness and generosity that this community is awesome to have! I'll try to keep entertaining so thanks for sticking around!
Great video and congrats on your nominations, well deserved! I'm on board for your changeup! Sorry I haven't commented in a while, and I seem to miss your live stuff! I will try to catch your next one! Awesome books too, btw!!
Hey man, I appreciate you watching anytime you can and I hope to have you and your brother on the Big 5 Live early next year. Thank you for the kind words dude...you know I appreciate them!
It’s a great idea to go into more the art style and info about the comics. I find it more interesting and you don’t really get to see inside the comics until you’ve brought it hahaha. That fantastic fear looks great inside 👌
I figured you might like it. Guess which modern book I will have to feature eventually so get that second issue out! That Fantastic Fears was so cool, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Love the channel change, my friend! To me, it’s all about the story and art in these books. I’m excited to see all the new books and series you explore and talk about!
Thanks Justin. You and John's comics with kids do such a great dive into comic stories so I see the draw to it. I appreciate you homie, can we hang again soon?!
John Buscema is one of my favorite artists. I know the Silver Surfer run can be expensive but I still think this run is underrated. The art and the writing is top notch. I will possess that run one day.
I know you love a good Buscema book as you are a man of good taste! You will have that run I am sure, once you've bought up all the John Byrne you can! Thank you Mr. Akins!
For a second I thought you were hanging it up. I love comic history as well but hope to still see some of your pickups! Great Halloween show, I like to catch your live streams on the rewind.
I couldn't man! I'd lose all of my friends and go insane! I will definitely do the occasional unboxing but I want to work a little harder to hopefully bring you more entertaining content. I catch so many livestreams from others on the rewind. I appreciate you watching!
Thank you! If you check out my Halloween livestream my guests showed a TON of awesome spooky season books. In case, ya know, you are ever missing Halloween and need some stuff to watch! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Enjoyed the Halloween show, the Flip cover reminds me of Will Eisner... Picked up a copy of Judo Master 89, 1966. Cgc 6.0 so the oldest title I currently have. An old favourite from my childhood. Possibly heading down the non marvel/ dc cgc titles from the 60s...like yourself restricted to online purchases. Nice 10cent Journey Into Mystery... Looking forward to the new show format..
Thank you! The flip cover is definitely very Eisner-like. Now I have to research Judo Master more as I'm mildly familiar with it. I'm enjoying works from the 60's that were not from the big two as well. I appreciate your kind words!
Great pivot! Watching your growth as a comic book collector these past two years has been a treat. There's an endless number of comic books to explore, examine, and enjoy. We need more Comic Tropes-esque content out there!
Thanks Raph! I haven't gotten to comment on it yet but I am almost through and LOVING your video on the old monster books s they are my thing. I definitely have to learn more editing to make it fun but thank you!
Brandon, you have been an inspiration to watch, I only hope I can duplicate your success with time. (Zombi doesn't have an e because back then you could see both spellings until it standardized around the 1960s)
I don't even know what to say as that's like the biggest compliment ever and I still have a very small channel but thank you Matt. your positive attitude and love for comics makes me smile everytime I see you showing a book. I appreciate you sticking around!
Congratulations on the nomination and being a finalist in this year's CBCA! Well deserved! Thanks for including my clip in your video and I'll do my best to be there live next year as last night as you don't plan it for my wife's birthday again 😉 Excited to see what this new change to your channel brings!
Ryan, your video was obviously the hi light this week so thanks for putting so much great work into it and showing all of those sweet, sweet spooky books! I'm gonna take some notes from you and if I can edit 1/16th the quality that you do I think it will be fun!
Thanks Derek! I needed to try something new and it's actually sparked more motivation but I also know I'll be cursing a lot trying to learn new tricks to make it fun so please, bare with me lol
I always see your name in the comments and I truly appreciate it. I will work hard to keep it fun as I wasn't too comfortable with this being my first time so bear with me and thank you!
Great segment Brandon and some cool books!...just a suggestion, if your friend is trying to downsize his collection, why not just send him an empty short box? 😆...just kidding!...stay safe my friend!
hahaha. Are you all moved home and have a valid address cause I have some stuff to send for your empty short box! Hope you are well and staying safe my friend!
I actually do love the new direction Brandon. Not everyone will know the details of certain books ie: first time drawing for Marvel or DC, etc. Like I never knew there was distribution agreements in the 60’s with Marvel and DC. Or the rights to character names. Knowing the history of artists and writer’s. There is so much stuff out there to dig into so you will have so much content my friend. I will be tuning in for sure!
Thanks Jeff! I’m REALLY going outside of my comfort zone in my next video but I’ve learned so much so that even if the video isn’t appreciated, which I don’t think will be the case, I have already obtained so much more knowledge about one of my favorite characters and that makes me happy!
Thank you! I just subscribed to your channel so I'll keep my eyes peeled. Love your name too and will check out your content this weekend as I was very close to my father. Thanks for dropping by!
Great video, I am looking forward to the new format. It's good that you can let the channel evolve into something you are still passionate about. Can't wait for the Friday live show. See you then.
I truly appreciate that. I have a really fun video lined up that I’m already working on as viewers have motivated me to keep going with this idea. Thank you!
I'll be here watching any content you put out. Great lineup of books! There's definitely an allure to G.A. art that really makes that era stand out. Keep the good stuff comin', my friend!
Ryan's segment was great! Congratulations on your nomination! Looking forward to your deeper dives, you are great at voices, I'd be stoked to hear you do some character voices if you ever read a panel.
You introduced me to that Dark Horse Presents 137 with that awesome Predator vs Nazi's story. With that you gave me the gift unearthing a Predator story from the 90s I never knew existed! So if education and discovery is your theme now, I'm looking forward to the next 'mind blown' moment. Have fun! I've never seen the interiors to that Silver Surfer 3 so it was awesome to see that first image of Mephisto 👍
I love that even one predator fan learned something from me so I’m motivated by hearing these things to keep it going. Covers are great but the art inside is definitely the star of the show!
@@Moncomics One thing I've always interested me is when a book is one of my patented "low-key keys". Something the cover will never tell you, but the interior pages hold something notable if you're a die-hard fan. As an example, my head always goes to Spectacular Spider-Man 58 since that's when the Beetle ditches his goofy silver age costume and gets his more notable armoured costume he had for around 20 years. Looking forward to more mysteries uncovered!
Nice video, we are so late to the party and we're trying to go through all these awesome channels with a zillion videos. We love horror obviously and love that Crow and SS4 peaking out there.
Thank you! There's way too many channels to keep up with lol. And thanks, the Crow and that SS4 are definitely special to me. I appreciate you checking out my channel!
I agree, Jay. I should have spoke to being able to see that from the golden age to the silver age. And even though the JIM 69 is better quality than the Fantastic Fears 3, you can still see where marvel went cheap at this time with paper quality and the use of dull blades when cutting the comics which led to Marvel chipping. Once you get to the SS3 from 1968 you can see the vast improvements for the paper to last a little longer. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
Hi Brandon And you can't go wrong with the Silver Surfer. Hard to believe it never survived as a series. But I guess you say it never had a bum story. John Buscema at his COSMIC best! Cheers once more Al TheGoldKeyfourcolorkidownunda
@@Moncomics I dig the history stuff. The Comic Tropes concept is fun, and you definitely don't need to get into a deep dive like he does for it to be great. Sometimes I just want something simple and short.
