I feel the same way. There have only been a few unreleased songs i had not heard before, but just hearing the intro there was no doubt who it was. This just doesnt have that insta recognition from the first few seconds of listening
To me this song is both modern and nostalgic so i'm especially interested in Ty's take as a younger, newer fan. The layers of sound, them as a duo, their voices and harmonizing, the lyrics, and them being so obviously older... There's a lot to process as a three decade+ fan. And I can't stop listening to it.
Totally agree. A really satisfying blend of DM's more current sound with the classic layered vocal melodies of Martin/ Dave. And it builds. Actually started getting pretty emotional on my third or fourth listen.
It’s No Good? Walking In My Shoes? Freelove? They’ve had so many great songs since Violator, just saying. I am so pleased they stayed with doing music. ❤
This was a first listen for this 40-year fan. I couldn't hear the lyrics well, so I will have to go look the lyrics up. As an old-school fan, it was very sobering to see a Depeche Mode video where they're a duo. Alan's departure in the 90s was hard to deal with, but I'm still in mourning over Fletch, and not seeing him in the new video was a stark reminder of his death. I will admit I cried a little bit watching this video. DM forever, 1980- ?.
It kinda scares me when I look at Martin and think that they’ve done a really great job of making him look so old… and then, oh yeah, he is getting old
Thanks for a great reaction. Depeche Mode define who they are..emotional and beautifully artisitic. Agreed with comments that it is as good as Enjoy the Silence in 1990
That is the best thing Depeche has done in a long long time. Nice to see that. Good for them and us. So now that you've listened to their latest single, I highly recommend listening to the First ever single by Depeche. Dreaming of Me on the A-side and Ice Machine on the B-side. I actually still have this single, which I bought when it was released in 1981. Both songs are amazing in their own way. I mentioned this in a post on your last video( not sure if you saw it) that you have done a lot of later Depeche, and that I would love to hear both your takes on a few of the really early Depeche years (1981), like these 2 songs, when Depeche co-founder Vince Clark was writing the songs. He only stayed for the first album and a few singles before moving on to found Yazoo and later Erasure, but wrote some iconic dance songs for Depeche that I still love and listen to today. I started going to New Wave dance clubs in early 1980 and when Depeche came on the scene in 1981 they instantly became my favorite band. Ty mentioned Depeche has always been a depressive style band, which is true. But some of these early Vince Clark songs may give him a different take. You have to know where it started to understand where they went afterwards. Besides Dreaming of Me, and Ice Machine, you should check out Photographic, New Life and Just Can't Get Enough as well. All big dance club hits back then.
Fab idea 😎 I was thinking about "New Life" also ... Always trying to guess what tunes I think he'd respond too well, ya know. HA ✌🏼 The more I think I know, I don't 😁 Cheers Count LeZard
DM lost me after Sounds of the Universe. But they are back with this and sounding like a track from Playing the Angel album which was great. Very excited with them carrying on as an electronic duo. YUS!!
Been humming this song since hearing it. Excellent track after such a long time. Capturing post Music for the Masses songs vibe with a dash of new. Perfect for the David stage spin when performing live!
It's growing on me! Each time I listen to it I'm liking it more. (I actually didn't like it at first listen). Great reaction! I'd love to see you react to World In My Eyes. I think it's one of their best
I feel its a real return to form. Being a huge fan the last couple of albums left me a bit cold. This track sounds like classic DM but with a modern take. And it's a beautiful song.
@@reactionextraction you have to take your sons and daughter to a mode concert - it’s the experience that none of us ever forget (or wish to). I may be wrong but I feel that this may be the last album and concert they do as a band now fletch is no longe with us (I understand that they wanted to do this and it would be a good epitaph to the huge part he played in the band for so long). It would also make such a great review/feed back of the concert a I’m sure all of you will have different favourites and comments/takes on lyrics which would be really awesome to listen to as a review discussion. Please do your utmost to get tickets for this tour. All the best from the UK. #DM4Life
Such an iconic sound.
Depeche Mode Forever
RIP Fletch
The more I listen, the more I like it.

Can't wait for them to reach Dallas in Oct. 😎 Ty is very excited to see the Legends play live

As a four decade+ fan , i totally agree .
It`s a brilliant song full of texture. it gets better the more you hear it. The video is good too.
This is their best single since 1990’s “Enjoy the Silence”. If they were a young band this would be top of the charts. It’s a return to form.
Agreed!
Yep!!
Since 2005. 'Precious' (in my opinion) That was so beautiful and a real hit song btw. ✌
DEVOTEE💜FOREVER
It’s No Good? Walking In My Shoes? Freelove? They’ve had so many great songs since Violator, just saying. I am so pleased they stayed with doing music. ❤
Hmmm. There are quite a few from SOFAD and Ultra, and even Playing the Angel, that is better and just as good. I love it, though.

@@reactionextraction LOL That's what being a parent is all about. I'll keep an eye out
Don’t forget No Disco! 😊
Also as an "old dude" myself, I loved this song. Top notch Depeche Mode.

Also try to cath my favourite stranger which is also a fucking brilliant song from the forthcoming album.
Great song by the gods and a great review
Everything a Depeche Mode fan could hope for.

Guys they dropped a new ethereal dark track My Cosmos is Mine. Love it

Hopefully Ty was meaning melancholic than depressing
Nice reaction fellas. Have you got tickets for their tour?
Not Yet, waiting to see if they add Dallas or we gotta make the trek to San Antonio 😎

It's gud 😁 I like it sounds like there earlier tracks in era mixed in so yes epic
It's very melodic, remnants of But Not Tonight with ....everything counts ?
Yes, "But Not Tonight" makes sense 👍🏼 (a song I always thought needed to be faster paced)
❤
The song is dedicated to the band member they lost
You gotta try "China Crisis - African White" I think it might be something you've never heard from this group. Their best song.
This is great! Please please please react to Ren - Hi Ren if you haven’t yet! Amazing!
Sounds like new order!
If you would like to react to an artist you might not have heard of, I recommend Aesthetic Perfection with Bark at the Moon
