    That is a decent sized camp trailer and something I would love to build, how did u get the dark stain in the ply , did you use a torch to burn it? I would love to build one taller and have a shower over the A frame of the drawbar.. but you have done a wonderful job and having the tent off the top makes it suitable for a larger family for sure.
    .

    • @carneraerial
      @carneraerial  Рік тому +2

      Thank you, much appreciated. Yep, the sides I burned with a propane torch then coated with epoxy resin, fiberglass in places, then 7 coats of spar urethane over it all.
      That would be neat… could build the shower drain and gray “tank” between the frame.
      The trailer was built with the tent in mind from the beginning; 3 kids all about my size need to sleep up there.

    im an honest commenter it ;
    looks great i like the burnt wood look , however and i statre this clearly , your description says built from scrap is this a mistake in spelling and you meant from scratch as throughout the build i did not see anything that resembled scrap material , no rust removal from any metal surfaces no planing of grey weathered timber in fact the only thing i saw was new material being cut up and used in the building of the trailer , though it did turn out good for a box on wheels . look on utube for people who have built camper trailers using scrap such as old box trailer frames and second hand building supplies they picked up from demolition sites and repurposed to make their build then call it buuild from scrap as yours is clearly not built from scrap , even if you had the material lying around in the yard from old projects it can be considered as scrap , but then you see the foundary scale still fresh on metal then its clearly new material nicely dar timber with no greying clearly new ...lol sorry but i am honest still like the plain look of a box on wheel youve cut out all the effort in making a camper practical for your standards i guess ... ohh and if you think im being harsh no , im a metal worker who builds trailers and stuff for people as a hobby / sideline and a tinkerer of all trades car , bike . boats and use to work in construction so enjoy my honesty for what its worth .. sorry thats aussie straight up we dont do bs unless we are joking with our mates but in no way is my commenting aimed to offend ... cheers

      Nope, just an iPhone auto correct typo. I don’t put any effort into the descriptions. It was meant to say “scratch”, which was probably pretty obvious. But, I will say that if you’re a builder, you should know its more than a box on wheels… if you’re really able to look and see all the signs from a builders perceptive. Just my defense of this little camper i created ;) As for “building” myself, I’m not just doing it on the side. I grew up in construction, have built pretty much entire houses, commercial buildouts and pretty much you name it, I’ve worked on it to some degree… plumbing, electrical, pools, fiberglassing, rebuild motors, auto restore, Aside from the welding. I had welded some, but not much. There was a steep learning curve there with the stick. The mig was easy, like cheating.
      But yeah, no worries. Sorry to lead you down the wrong path of you had been searching for “scrap” builds. I’ll go change it now. Cheers🍻

      In North America they say build from scratch when you build something from materials bought in the store OR scrap. It is just saying we did not buy something that was already pre assembled or bought whole. When we say build from SCRAP than what we mean is we build it from scrap materials. Like from the junkyard or from old pallets or whatever scrap. Your comment is valid but it is the cultural difference and the use of language here that makes the difference between countries.
