Man, this remix makes Dark Halls feel so much more different, feels like a insane mission or something crazy you'd get in a shooter like "Clear out the base of Demons" or "Terrorists have taken over the train station, they're armed and willing to kill. Take them out"
Mate, I Am SURE Bobby Prince had this in mind when he dreampt up these beats and melodies. He's probably crying in happiness that someone made it the way he imagined it. Mate your dedication to these gems of tunes is pure passion! Well done!
a super well-deserved rerecording. The older version sound more like scary ambience from 80's horror filicks. Which was awesome. but thanks to Andrew, it sounds like a real song now. Thanks a lot man! You pulled this off perfectly in a way I didn't even know could be done! \m/
@@AndrewHulshultOfficial I'm late to the party, but you needed to keep the "BowedGlass" instrument that gives it that "eerie horror film" vibe. But the Tremolo was a genius move.
I'm listening to a long long DOOM OST Remake playlist during work and this song made me stop what I was doing and made me recheck and replay it. Great, great job, fantastic iteration of this classical piece. Glad to see that in resonated with others too.
I heared this while playing Brutal Doom Hell on Earth. Holy shit, not only I was happy seeing a level that I played when I was in primary school at my first time playing Doom, but also so pumped up with this song. I love this version.
I genuinely usually never like fan remakes and so forth but HOLY FUCKING SHIT this is High Quality production that kills the original 10 to 1. Dude, thank you!
My favourite doom 1 map, mainly because it has the first secret level exit on it, this music is etched in my brain it is hypnotising by itself but this remake gives it the guitar riffs it deserves!
Very nice. This person took lots of liberties with it adding in extra stuff, and it all sounds very appropriate and maintains the original feel. This is high quality songsmanship. Bravo...and thank you, this is a real treat.
Never cared too much about this track in any other mix I've heard, but your mix here, Andrew, has put this shit up to one of the best fucking tracks in all of DOOM, up with E1M1 and Into Sandy's City the rhythm guitar at 2:40 makes me lose my fucking mind every time I hear it, it's just so perfectly placed, the pacing in this remake is just way too good, on fucking point
Wow. This is really far cooler than the PC-DOS version of Dark Halls. I'm really enjoying the Metal Guitar, Synth - Keyboard, and Drums. This really sounds like something a Rock/Roll or Metal band would play. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Radical Dude!!
One thing I like about this track is how it has this surreal psychedelic feel to it, which I feel befits a game about gunning down the literal forces of hell, complete with their unholy reality-warping powers, nicely.
This is one of my favorites of your remakes. Simply incredibly. You've added a completely new dynamic to the track that just wasn't there with the original. Can't stop listening. Amazing job!
Yo andrew, I don't know if you're ever gonna read my comment but, I want you to know that I love the HELL out of this song and I listen to it everyday, Just reminiscing of this classic masterpiece, hell I can drink to this song!
Goodness I forgot how talented Andrew is. Great remix. If Mick Gordon and id Software never make amends I hope they have Andrew do the next Doom soundtrack.
I recently downloaded Brutal Doom, and after hearing this track, spent more than an hour trying to track it down. It's amazing. Do you know where I can find the rest of the songs used in Brutal Doom?
the brutal doom metal soundtrack has a really rich variety of talented people. Not sure where to find ALL of them but search "brutal doom volume" in youtube. there are a few compilations. Also I did a remake of the entire first episodes music called IDKFA if you are interested.
I don't know if you were going for an '80's feel with this, but that's what I hear. It's like a mash-up of Doom and Vomitron's remix of the Contra soundtrack. I love it!
Andrew in 2014: Makes a cover of a Doom song for fun, uploads it to his UA-cam channel. Andrew in 2020: Gets hired as composer for an actual Doom game. That's like covering a band and then getting asked to join the band. :D
Awesome work, man! I'm only learning the curves around recording, mixing and mastering audio, but I can already tell a good work from a piece of crap. Your rendering of the classic tune is the best I've heard so far!
Such a great remake, it fits Doom perfectly that it even puts Classic Doom 3's Dark Hall to shame. This has to be incluided in Doom Metal Compilation ver.5 to replace that boring ClassicD3's music.

That awkward moment where you go from being a mod community favorite to being the face of the franchises music
Why awkward ? It's awesome ! Andrew is a beast, he deserves it.
He went from small guy to playing with the big guys
*Wholesome Moment
What's this about James Paddock again?
He deserved it, and he delivered best doom music I've ever heard.
Never fails. Every time Andrew throws up a DOOM OST remake I find myself in the hospital thanks to an overdose of badassitry.
Smaller doses my friend. Take my remakes in moderation. All at once could make you shit your pants in public. Recreational use is encouraged :-)

everything you touch turns into a masterpiece and these songs were great to being with!
The chugs at around 2:08 make the song so heavy that i cannot stop headbanging. That's a riff that Metallica would make.
It's the I-IV-I figure that really drives it. Such simple progression, yet so effective under the right context.
