    These are just 911's that buyers have always wanted and that Porsche should've always aimed to provide. But it's easier to make these "pure" versions in limited numbers, jack the prices up, and make a huge margin off the uber-rich.

    • @zillionhorsepower
      @zillionhorsepower 19 днів тому +3

      These pure cars have high CO2 emissions. That must be a significant cost for Porsche. The reason Porsche can sell the GT3 is because the Taycan sells well. It's a sad reality, but we have to accept it.

Brilliant video and great journalism, thank you guys.

    People don't really realise that those "limited edition" are quite large production still in today's world and fit pretty much close to the demand there is. Think back 996RS approx 650ex, 997RS gen1 1300ex, gen2 1400ex, 4.0 600ex... and then nowadays GT3RS are 5/6k ex, normal GT3 are 9/10k ex and those are limited to 1963ex or 2500ex for the Dakar. These are big numbers because the previous cars stay in the market and contribute to an augmentation of the global supply for a product that is getting very similar to the previous one. A lot more people have more money compare to 15years ago but market could get saturated pretty soon with all those models. Or the lower and basic GT3 will plunge for the normal of us and those will only be trusted by the top tier collectors.

Any reviewer on here would tell you that this car with those options is too harsh, uncomfortable and unnecessary for everyday driving. But I do it and I love it. I’d probably make it more hardcore if I could. Ultimately it depends what you are looking for. Looks like you are the first reviewer who actually talks about clutch , I have ST clutch and flywheel installed in my touring and put about 3k miles so far. It’s not easiest clutch to live with , it’s loud ( like disposal with bolts), much harder to start moving from standing but it’s amazing when you really on it , revés so fast . Also on the downshift you have to revematch perfectly otherwise your wheels can get locked (revés drops so fast ) All I can say : I absolutely love it , it’s such an experience non of other car delivers, but a lot of wealthy guys who got ST will be surprised how not easy it is to drive and how much replacement clutch will cost 😂

    Certainly the best 992s by a long chalk (as far as I can tell - not driven either, sadly). Would love one of each, but the S/T is oddly specced as a road car - not just the tyres, but also the fitment of a cage? That's a load of useable space denied to you right there. On the other hand, I think the S/T is the best loooking 911 since the 997.2 GT3RS and streets ahead, looks-wise, of the 911R. Although inside, it might be a different story...
    As to the rest of it - modern dampers, brilliant steering, light weight, appropriate gearing, LWFW, LSD, carbon -backed sports seats - all retro-fitted to my 997.1 for waaay less money. I'm kinda envioius of the extra 140 bhp and 1500 rpm that the S/T has, but it keeps me out of gaol...

      It'll have anti stall, so you'll be able to use that for hill starts if you want to. But it's basically nonsense. You're not going to wear the clutch out faster because it has a LWFW when using a little throttle to start like you might in a 911 with a dual-mass flywheel..

    I dont agree with the Cup 2 comment for the ST. The Cup 2 are fine in the rain I use them daily and putting the 4s on an ST is so wrong because it numbs the car, specifically the steering feel. You adore and praise the chassis and steering feel so much but you ignore that you have the tires to thank for most of the work. Yes the ST is not a track only car but its not a grocery getter either, keep the 4s away from these special cars, the Cup 2 isnt even the most aggresive track tire anyway.

    I think re the ST, the 991.1 R and the 996 RS (and to be honest, the 996.2 vanilla GT3)are far more appealing as pure driver's cars than the ST, among the modern models. The ST is just a bit too tarty and the basic body shell too big and too GT-ish.
