    You are right on. Fit your needs, not the advertising hype. My Pescador Pro 10 is perfect for me. A dedicated place for my electronics, cuts the water well, easy to transport and very stable. It's not going to meet everyone's needs but for me it's perfect.

    Super important thing to consider. If it's a pain to load and transport you're not going to want to go. That's why if you can get only one, maybe go for the yak that is middle line in terms of size and weight. That's why I also have a few kayaks/canoes. I have my Slayer 10 and a 44lb Grumman canoe that are easy to load and transport and get to the water and are my first choice when maybe I only have a few hours and don't want to deal with the hassle of my bigger yaks

    This is good info. This is the exact reason i bought a vibe skipjack 90. 9ft 40ish lbs. It is actually really stable on the water although not the fastest. It fits in the back of my suv. This is definitely very overlooked by most people.

    Coffee and Kayaks! My Yellowfin 130T is about 85 pounds. I car top it on my Toyota Highlander. It's not the easiest, but doable. I hope to have a cart for it real soon. That will make the entry and exit much easier.

      For sure, I’m thinking about getting a cart for my Slayer as well. Definitely a huge advantage.

    These are all great things to consider. The Slayer 12XC is a freakin beast! I can barely load it myself. Luckily, I have a Focus because there's no way I'd be able to load it on anything much bigger.

      That’s why I do hip thrusters every morning so I can load that puppy up on my own.

    My kayak fits inside my van so awesome! I am building a powered skiff also which will be ok on top of the van and be way more fishable!

    I’m feeling very attacked right now with my 13ft kayak and Hyundai Sonata. But in all honesty, you’re totally right. I don’t get to go out as much. Mostly because I don’t have a roof rack yet. But my soon to be solution is getting an suv.

    Welp...this is a great point! But don’t underestimate the power of stubbornness either 😂
    I’m a 5’1” woman with bad knees and I car top my 85 pound Hobie Outback on my Mini Cooper, all by myself. 2-3 times a week. Semi-shameless plug here, but there’s literally a video on my channel showing how I do it.

    I have two kayaks. I started on a eagle talon 12 from dicks sporting goods. Now I have a perception pescador pilot 12. The pescador is a lot more difficult to transport for sure, especially due to the pedal drive weighting about an extra 30lbs.

    • @FishAnything

      For sure, but it’s nice to have options 🤠

    First thing I considered is how the hell am i going to get a kayak into the water with my Hyundai Elantra? Bought my first yak in June after buying and installing a roof rack system that cost more than the kayak itself. Ended up going with the lifetime Teton angler weighing in at about 10’ and 53 lbs, took me a few times to get the loading process down to a science but it beats casting from the shore!

    • @vtseller
      @vtseller 5 років тому +2

      The Ascend is an absolute barge. Check out something from Vibe kayaks or the 3 waters kayaks. You will be happy you didnt buy the Ascend.

      I agree with Bradley, I’d personally opt for something lighter. I like my Native Manta Ray for the price but other good ones in that range would be a Vibe, Wilderness Tarpon, 3 Waters, Jackson Bite, & Old Town Topwater. I’d look for used if you want to save a few bucks! Might be able to scoop one up for a good price now that fall will be here soon! 🤠

    Hey Ethan: Portability "outweighs" all other factors. You stated it well. When I'm in stores watching new customers ponder a first kayak, I sometimes bud in and warn them.
