11.0.5 also has a ring transmog toy that you can get right now. I expect they will continue to make them every once and a while going forward if we are getting one in back to back patches.
The people who bring up the Blizzard not fixing Racials due to Race change purchases clearly don't know how much FF14 makes from Fantasia. If they fixed Racials to be more flavor based like cool cultural things, or a few more options for Profession buffs, dropped the price of a Race change and opened factions. The money would come flying in.
@@tili_ Its a potion in FF14 you buy from the store to race change but its like $10.00 USD. It's the most bought thing on the store and because it's so cheap. People buy them in stacks and its not uncommon you get people race changing a couple times a week just for tansmog purposes.
I would argue the current state of racials is actually less immersive because 3/4ths of races are completely useless. Void elf is actually a good example of a well designed racial, most of the time it doesnt do much but occasionally you can do something cool with it. Being able to do a cool unique thing in a specific scenario is the only way you can actually feel what race you are. Dwarf is problematic because its too applicable. It's kinda like mind controls in dungeons: its cool when there is something you can do that only your class can do, but if it's every dungeon you can do something or a mind controlled mob is way too strong it becomes a problem. Being given a niche tool makes it fun to try and figure out where you can use it. Being given a tool that always is useful and way stronger than any of the niche tools is boring because you never have to think about it, its just always applicable
I'm currently in world ~1000 guild. One night we normaly dont raid, we went to do HC BRD (not with our A team, obviously, we had like 8 proper raiders and 3 socials) and wihout any guide or even reading dung jurnal we made it to 5th Boss in 3h...its INSANE how hard this raid is for how shitty gear that drops there is
Actually shadowmeld DOES work in raid sometimes. On Sikran for example, if you're the first target of its charge I'm pretty sure you can meld it and the boss won't charge. Same thing happens with invi so I assume it should work with meld aswell since in the past it's been consistent that you could "skip" the same mechanics with both.
As a long time single spec player. I think it may be on purpose with the constant tuning to prevent people from rerolling. Side note its also hilarious when those rerollers cry after getting nerfed
we tried the brd HC and we got stuck on Incendius - the tanking mechanic didnt work for us and there seemed to be too many adds and wasnt really fun - for context our guild is starting to prog mythic Nerubar
Another Point for the BRD Discussion: You can actively hurt yourself by doing BRD, because it can be part of your weekly vault. Meaning, instead of getting a good item, like the very rares from Palace, you could get a shit item from BRD.
gotta say the plunderstore is a very good solution to the collection aspect of plunderstorm, i can just buy the new shit for 40k plunder instead of having to grind renown again with like half the stuff being from the first plunderstorm
Maybe I’m not very representative of the average wow player but to me I don’t particularly care about the whole new area thing and would much rather them spend that time on class changes since some specs desperately need a good month or two of iteration right now. I would play a lot more if they did literally nothing but class stuff for the entire time in between patches. To me new world stuff is exactly as uninteresting as all the current world stuff
I feel the same way but we're not the only ones playing. There are a lot of casuals that would hate not having something new for that long. It's a balance they need to find. But yeah, some classes are really hurting or just straight up feel bad to play
@@agronnak That’s exactly right. People that watch PoddyC are automatically in a different category which is an extreme minority. Blizz is making the game for everyone and the most amount of players need casual content.
The major flaw of the ring is not just the rehash, is also for classes like healers who are, especially this season, tuned so tight wiht their stats, that if the ring doesn't have stats like it didn't last time, it likely doa and even more so if it takes as much to acquire and to upgrade as it did last time, i didn't bother with it as a healer and likely won't because Blizzard will likely do the same thing again and even if they don't they'll likely do something that will fail again anyway but regardless it sounds like borrowed power anyway so it's bad design by default.
Games have been $60 for a lot longer than 20 years. They were $60 in the 90s. Look up old Toys 'R Us ads or whatever and see like... new SNES releases for $60, that kind of thing. And obviously $60 is worth a lot less now than it was then while dev costs have skyrocketed.
On the blizzard hiring/firing front: they were acquired by microsoft and then cancelled an unannounced project and fired the whole team. They also cancelled and fired the rumble team. Just last week, within a year of doing the above, they've started to staff up a new unannounced project. It's a really horrible sequence of events.
Dratnos, I think the mythic BRD content is for the type of guild that isn't putting 20 people together for current mythic, but still likes a challenge. My raid team of 14 cleared BRD week one blind and loved it (for that one week) because it was more challenging than heroic Palace, which we've been done with for a while. But there is no reason for us to go back into BRD and deal with its difficulty because the loot is all worse than Palace. A mythic 10-15 man raid would be incredible for the groups who can't cobble 20 together well. Side rant: Myth gear should be more attainable by people without 20 similarly minded friends.
Honestly, you guys are mythic raiding so you don’t feel it, but if you want to be competitive in keys and don’t mythic raid, life sucks relying on vault luck. Bring back bullions or let high keys drop myth track gear after 8 weeks of the tier!
Or just remove myth track and make hero track have 10 upgrade levels. Mythic raid could drop on 6/10 so you need less crests to upgrade it to max. We had something similar in df season 1 but mythic raiders cried that the raid didn't matter.
I don’t share this sentiment. I’m 622 with zero myth track pieces on and I’m keeping up and even beating in some dungeons 630 item level players. Gear only gets you so far in keys.
47:39 imean, thats just because it is in fact not the first time. pretty much all those NA promotions were NA exclusive or you need some NA friend to hook you up with a code.
I complained about the brutosaur mount and still havent bought it. There are dozens of us! DOZENS! But fr once tokens go lower again I’ll just get it for cheap I’m not spending 90$ when I can just spend gold
You are thinking about upgrades completely incorrectly. Keep Valorstones, get rid of all crests. Gear all drops at 1/5 it takes 1000 stones to get to 5/5 and the base ilevel changes based on content level. Crests are the massive complexity issue with crafting (think new players).
I've heard a lot of game devs don't want to work for blizzard or riot and they pay is horrible for you having to be in the office and LA, and most don't want to be in the office
max completely zoned out at the end but the topic was actually really interesting and could've been talked about more (maybe another episode idk) there's specs like arcane mage that not only got huge gameplay changes that made the rotation feel different (some people say its worse some say its better, i think it's worse) and it changed the stat priority so some vault choices that were right before the patch are just wrong now and it feels real bad to be set back like that while you're still gearing and progging n stuff
Just tie racials to Warbound rep with that faction, call it like “Lessons of Stormwind” and now you get to use double hearthstone. The only thing is don’t let people mix and match actives and passives, you want Stoneform you’re getting your archaeology bonus buddy.
1:04:57 - They're not exactly the same. With the old Longboi you had the option to grind out gold and buy it with gold and not support in-game store selling mounts. With the new longboi, blizzard will get real money for every single gilded brutosaur, either payed by you directly, or by someone else paying for it through wowtokens. Putting the new bruto in-game for 2mil would've been way better PR, but obviously Blizz prefers getting money for every longboi.
Of course perception matters. Which sounds better, nerfing everyone so that every DPS is as balanced as the weakest current DPS or buffing everyone so every DPS spec is as strong as the strongest DPS and in both cases tuning content accordingly.
I think if they could do the same kind of thing they do with covenant abilities where theyre not active unless youre in the shadowlands zones it could work, like say if they could make it so your racials are disabled while in mythic dungeons or raids but you get to pick on the talent bar which one you want then you could use them while inside the dungeon/raid but your actual characters racial is still used outside in open world/heroic dungeons or lower content.
Dorki hit the nail on the head with the class changes. I went mage this season due to past performance and arcane being nuts DPS for both M+ and raid. Now, with the .05 rework arcane is low middle of pack in M+. I either have to learn a new mage spec and restat gear for just a marginal improvement (cause all mage specs suck ass now) or I have to reroll a class in the later half of this season and never catch up to my mage in gear OR I have to stick with arcane and re-learn my rotation because the conditionals changed with the patch. No matter what I'm scuffed and not playing the same class/rotation I was at the start of the expansion. If I knew that mage was going to fall out of meta a couple months into the season I'd have rolled a different class. Frost DK didn't get this bad of a treatment by blizz so why mage and the high difficulty turret spec.
I'd argue WoW is pay-to-skip rather than pay-to-win, because there's nothing in game that can't be acquired with in game currency or gameplay. To me pay-to-win is when you can buy power not available to non-paying players, which thankfully isn't the case for WoW. The most you can do in WoW is buy achievements or BoE items, all of which can be done without using real life money, and none of which will make you cap out stronger than a non-paying player.
I think BoEs are pretty pay to win. 2 myth BoEs would take two weeks of vaults for someone who only does m+ for example. I can spend money and then have a gear advantage compared to people who don't. This can allow me to get into better groups, get more score, etc. It is a factor which compounds for sure, but I suppose it depends on your definition of "winning"
Every Pay-to-Win game is pay-to-skip. That is the model. Sure it takes F2P players actual years to grind to what whales buy in an hour but you can still theoretically get everything you want eventually and that is what strings people along. I don't understand this distinction because even games that people fully consider pay-to-win do not automatically give you any win in anything ever- you are just able to keep up with all the other people that pay thousands a month. I don't see how WoW would not classify as pay-to-win. You're just able to acquire gear/actual quality of life now by paying more money. That is paying for an advantage that others don't have. The only difference is that you can get those things in a much more reasonable amount of time compared to the popular picks for P2W games, but only taking into account that you basically spend no gold anywhere other than on WoW market boosts, tokens, or BoEs.
First video ever where I'm siding with Dorki on the BRD takes instead of Dratnos. This was Blizz's chance to experiment with 10man mythic and they blew it. Great valorstone rant though! Edit: At least for shadow priest, the damage difference between highest and lowest racial dps is 1.85%. If liquid did almost 2% less, I'm saying they would not have killed Queen when they did.
With the MDI discussion, the RWF too in some respects, it is true that its nothing but the same teams. To put in terms Max might get, imagine if there was only 2 Hockey teams in the NHL. That suck pretty hard and get boring for a lot of people. Here down under we had a footy team that esentially did what Liquid does, they vought up all the major talent and absolutely dominated the game for years, they won the grand final every year for a long time too. It got really bad on every front, from gambling to overall interest in the league. So maybe the solution, like with that is salary caps or introducing some sort of limits on teams or maybe even flat exlcuding those teams that are backed by big money because their players can afford to practice 18 hours a day, every day if they need to
Credit given when credit's due tho. Me and my guild decided to take a bit of break from Nerub'ar and went to BRD HC yesterday. We still haven't killed Ansurek on HC mind you, but we killed everything in BRD up untill last 2 bosses. And let me tell you: it has some of the best designed fights in the entire game. Sometimes hectic to a fault but they sure did great on designing them. Except for that bridge elemental fight. Fuck that boss and whoever designed it. That one is just misery
Hi, I don't think I count as casual (I usually end like 3200io the seasons I play). This inter-season patch content is boring for me too. Maybe if I had a raid team then heroic BRD would be fun once or twice. Also I like the immersion of the races (and factions: For the Horde) and whatnot but I think blizzard has already killed it with their ineptitude so I don't know why they bother anymore.
I like frequent tuning but I don't like having to log in and redo 10 talent builds for prot, holy, ret paladin, my DK, etc etc etc. Mostly because importing is still janky AF and you can't cleanly overwrite existing builds. Also the stat priority stuff and/or like in BDK's or Hunter cases, redoing rotations and priorities after finally getting into a good groove. Numbers tuning I think we're all good with, just not frequent open-heart surgery.
i think they should bring back BRD as a mythic difficulty for the in between patch before the next expansion if there is a in between waiting patch like last expansions
The desync issue has gotten extremely bad. Of our 30 pulls on Queen in one raid night more than 20 of those pulls had desync'd web blades in either p1 or p3. Sometimes the web blades hit after the animation goes away and sometimes the animation persists for many seconds after it should close and kills you if you attempt to cross it.
Regarding casual content being lackluster in the .X patches vs engaging content in the .7 patches; I dont think Blizz intentionally make one thing or the other "bad" on purpose, but its definitely a case of prioritizing the allocation of resources. I'm pretty certain that the weekly bloom "follow the tree" event from the Amirdrasil patch took 1 week to create whilst the Forbidden Isles/Onyx Vaults took 1 month+ to make. I think its fair criticism to point out that perhaps they should rethink their priorities and what theyre putting the most time/money/effort into. Of course the cynical take is that they put more effort into the .7 patches otherwise they shouldn't even exist - therefore it creates a feeling of "more content more often" with the current philosophy they've adopted. So the question is, do you want .7 content in the mid-season (i.e. what we have now) or that same content bundled together in the major content patches instead? (meaning longer seasons with no new content)
As far as the mount, I loved farming the gold for the first one. I never had over 100k until I wanted to farm for that mount. It was tons of fun and it was incentivized by being gold first, credit card as the work around. The new one I think should have been a bigger value (seriously? 1.5 mil for that? Its better than the OG and cheaper than even the dalaran spider) because I think people should have to work for it and I think that it should have also been gold first. There are always people who will turn real money into gold for whatever in wow, even before the token, but incentivizing just that instead of an in-game accomplishment I think is a failure.
BRD was super fun.. difficulty was harder than herubar heroic and easier than nerubar mythic.. should drop loot that caps at 632 or 636 ilvl somewhere in between heroic/mythic... for those people that feel like they HAVE to have it, you get a token per boss then you can buy any item you want for x amount of tokens.. so it got rid of the rng aspect of farming, great addition to BRD

Diablo 4 has made a boat load of money. A new ish report has confirmed
Overwatch makes hundreds of millions per quarter, Diablo 4 has made well over a billion in a year, Hearthstone is still very much profitable or it wouldn't get constant content updates.
"It's pretty clear" you making stuff up.
Whoever is doing dorki's pics for pod is amazing
PSA: radiant echoes x5 take 5 minutes and net around 250 valor stones, if you have some kicking around in your bag
Just got to your section on the racials. Been playing a Void Elf and she has been doing well so I decided to take me main NE hunter (605 ilvl) and run him through Simulationcraft but with the race changed. Did only Ally races. After doing all the races I discovered MECHAGNOME has the highest dps pickup. Mind blown... The list is #1 Mechagnome, #2 Dwarf, #3 Draenei, #4 Dark Iron Dwarf, #5 Gnome, #6 NE, #7 Human, #8 Worgen, #9 Kul Tiran, #10 Void Elf, #11 Earthen, #12 Light Forged Draenei, & #13 Pandaren. I know some of these races can't be hunters but I coudn't be bothered to check. :)
I can't believe you are pay-walling the DRAMA
shadowmeld isnt great cuz it breaks top 1% m+ runs, no its because it can be used to reset broken open world aggro that wont drop and isnt letting me mount.
This podcast feels much saner than the bench just from the brd takes alone. There was a blond haired guy saying 'brd is great, nothing needs to be changed, just go in with a group of 630s' and the other two guys were like 'yeah bro absolutely'
Both podcasts are out of touch and have been in high end groups/guilds/networks for years/decade
@@svsv1191 yeah but they're aware of it. how often do you hear max say "this is specific to high end content" or "this content isn't for us". they know that most of the game isn't designed around them, which is more you can say about most people
@@meerkatwithatophat6506 I mean even further than that
Dude tettles feels like he's playing a character trying to think of the most hot takes and out of touch elitist opinions. It's wiild how he thinks. And how matter of fact he puts it.
@@MrMcswiggensI don’t like tettles.
Arcane having 2 major rotation shake ups is really cool. Luckily I'm good enough to be able to adapt to it fairly quickly.
11.0.5 also has a ring transmog toy that you can get right now. I expect they will continue to make them every once and a while going forward if we are getting one in back to back patches.
As a fury warrior shadowmeld is my biggest dps cooldown, means i can unleash and drop aggro for 1 second and continue blasting
Valley of the four winds would be a nice plunderstorm map
The people who bring up the Blizzard not fixing Racials due to Race change purchases clearly don't know how much FF14 makes from Fantasia.
If they fixed Racials to be more flavor based like cool cultural things, or a few more options for Profession buffs, dropped the price of a Race change and opened factions. The money would come flying in.
what is fantasia
@@tili_ Its a potion in FF14 you buy from the store to race change but its like $10.00 USD. It's the most bought thing on the store and because it's so cheap. People buy them in stacks and its not uncommon you get people race changing a couple times a week just for tansmog purposes.
@@krackawoody2556sounds dumb
One night we normaly dont raid, we went to do HC BRD (not with our A team, obviously, we had like 8 proper raiders and 3 socials) and wihout any guide or even reading dung jurnal we made it to 5th Boss in 3h...its INSANE how hard this raid is for how shitty gear that drops there is
Ah yes, another episode of the superior podcast
Actually shadowmeld DOES work in raid sometimes. On Sikran for example, if you're the first target of its charge I'm pretty sure you can meld it and the boss won't charge. Same thing happens with invi so I assume it should work with meld aswell since in the past it's been consistent that you could "skip" the same mechanics with both.
As a long time single spec player. I think it may be on purpose with the constant tuning to prevent people from rerolling. Side note its also hilarious when those rerollers cry after getting nerfed
Hello Podracers
Golden intro, and factual.
That was an amazing bugle edit. Great work fronk
Best intro, by far.
Our guild had insane lag and 1 bug every 2 pulls for 20 pulls on Kyveza Mythic before cancelling the raid. I'd say it wasn't quite infrequent..
we tried the brd HC and we got stuck on Incendius - the tanking mechanic didnt work for us and there seemed to be too many adds and wasnt really fun - for context our guild is starting to prog mythic Nerubar
Poddy C is sorta too good for what it is. Awesome,
I love how feign death keeps catching stays for shadowmeld. I would race change panda sooo fast.
Another Point for the BRD Discussion: You can actively hurt yourself by doing BRD, because it can be part of your weekly vault. Meaning, instead of getting a good item, like the very rares from Palace, you could get a shit item from BRD.
So true. Luckily I don't need anything else from HC and had 2 mythic slots but that 3rd slot was a BRD item rather than Nerubar xD
At least you can overwrite normal and below BRD with HC or above current raid
No - only Nerub'ar palace loot drops from vault
@@Dropaprayer maybe they changed it for this week but lask week I got an item from BRD in the vault
It’s not binary. You weren’t getting a very rare anyways.
Everysingle week I watch this, dratnos looks more and more undead. Homie bis Halloween costume
gotta say the plunderstore is a very good solution to the collection aspect of plunderstorm, i can just buy the new shit for 40k plunder instead of having to grind renown again with like half the stuff being from the first plunderstorm
Preach, they need to work on classes and maybe address some of the complaints regarding M+
Totally agree balance is so important and even just meta changes to keep things fresh
I feel the same way but we're not the only ones playing. There are a lot of casuals that would hate not having something new for that long. It's a balance they need to find. But yeah, some classes are really hurting or just straight up feel bad to play
100%
@@agronnak
That’s exactly right. People that watch PoddyC are automatically in a different category which is an extreme minority.
Blizz is making the game for everyone and the most amount of players need casual content.
Here’s a cook for Dratnos, you can farm valorstones from Plunderstorm.
Gear only gets you so far in keys.
looted a Hero track BOE in week 1 and havent looked at gold since thank you random plate wearer that wanted the socket for the extra 500k
That bugle edit was top tier

47:39 imean, thats just because it is in fact not the first time. pretty much all those NA promotions were NA exclusive or you need some NA friend to hook you up with a code.
1:15:30 That's literally what happened like 3 years ago at Bluzz!
I complained about the brutosaur mount and still havent bought it. There are dozens of us! DOZENS! But fr once tokens go lower again I’ll just get it for cheap I’m not spending 90$ when I can just spend gold
plunderstorm in suramar city obvs
lol, I think every time someone uses the word "casual" their account's achievement score should flash next to their head to keep em strait. 🤣
You are thinking about upgrades completely incorrectly. Keep Valorstones, get rid of all crests. Gear all drops at 1/5 it takes 1000 stones to get to 5/5 and the base ilevel changes based on content level. Crests are the massive complexity issue with crafting (think new players).
BRD just needs few cool noncombat rewards.
I've heard a lot of game devs don't want to work for blizzard or riot and they pay is horrible for you having to be in the office and LA, and most don't want to be in the office
max completely zoned out at the end but the topic was actually really interesting and could've been talked about more (maybe another episode idk)
there's specs like arcane mage that not only got huge gameplay changes that made the rotation feel different (some people say its worse some say its better, i think it's worse) and it changed the stat priority so some vault choices that were right before the patch are just wrong now and it feels real bad to be set back like that while you're still gearing and progging n stuff
Just tie racials to Warbound rep with that faction, call it like “Lessons of Stormwind” and now you get to use double hearthstone. The only thing is don’t let people mix and match actives and passives, you want Stoneform you’re getting your archaeology bonus buddy.
56:57 SNES games were $60+ in 1990, games have been $60 basically forever
1:04:57 - They're not exactly the same. With the old Longboi you had the option to grind out gold and buy it with gold and not support in-game store selling mounts. With the new longboi, blizzard will get real money for every single gilded brutosaur, either payed by you directly, or by someone else paying for it through wowtokens. Putting the new bruto in-game for 2mil would've been way better PR, but obviously Blizz prefers getting money for every longboi.
dorkinG
Of course perception matters. Which sounds better, nerfing everyone so that every DPS is as balanced as the weakest current DPS or buffing everyone so every DPS spec is as strong as the strongest DPS and in both cases tuning content accordingly.
That biden photo is wild.
It's a brutosaur for 1.5mill gold essentially. They literally have wow tokens lol.
I’ve been tanking for over a decade and I’ve never rolled dwarf. If I had to “talent” into stone form as an orc I’d be pissed.
Just got to the part where he says basically the same thing lol
@@trench6118 way to miss the point
To me pay to win is basically cheating to be faster than others. So yes, you win ...a lot TIME.
Westfall for plunderstorm would be lit
15:20 haha dratnos said doodoo
Next time on PoddyBalls C: what was Ratnos's Soda?!
Hi,
I don't think I count as casual (I usually end like 3200io the seasons I play).
Dratty seems like a faygo enjoyer...
5 million gold doesn't buy me a big Mac from McDonald's
7:08 all timer dorki impression
Knew Dratnos was the goat, can't wait for PoE 2!!!
The desync issue has gotten extremely bad. Of our 30 pulls on Queen in one raid night more than 20 of those pulls had desync'd web blades in either p1 or p3. Sometimes the web blades hit after the animation goes away and sometimes the animation persists for many seconds after it should close and kills you if you attempt to cross it.
arent all the financials for blizz and microsoft fully public? lol
Yeah they profit like over 2 billion a year. They are rolling around in their money like pigs in shit
not for world of warcraft specifically which is what we want to know
I'd still play Goblin if Rocket jump, and rocket barrage didn't share a CD like they used to.

The moment they remove that dwarf racial I am hard swapping from dwarf. I am spending so much gold for things that change my race that is crazy
