  • Our adventures in and around Branson, Missouri continue and you'll never guess where we are traveling to today! I have wanted to go here for years but we always seem to "miss" the exit!
Today we are visiting Mansfield, Missouri and the homes of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura Ingalls Wilder was an American writer who published a series of children's books between 1932 and 1943. They were based on her childhood in a settler and pioneer family. I read and still have EVERY book!
These books later went on to become a television series "Little House on the Prairie". Growing up we never missed an episode and I have rewatched the series as an adult.
The houses in Mansfield, Missouri are where Laura and her husband Almanzo and daughter Rose lived. It was at the House on Rocky Rodge at age 65 that Laura wrote the first of the "Little House" books.
When you visit you can also go to a very nice museum that houses many original artifacts and does a great job of showing and telling about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family!
I absolutely loved our visit and if you have any interest in these books or the television show, you will enjoy a visit as well.
