I found when I added transform properties to the body to adjust opacity of different limbs, it mostly worked. However I had a dragger on the parent body, and the neck (a sub layer in body) had the transform property. When the neck had the transform property the neck kept getting pinned and distorting when using the dragger.
Yeah, sometimes behaviors don't work well together, and it's hard to know which ones you can or can't use. Dragger is notorious for not working well with other stuff that controls motion because the two tend to fight.
Always awesome to have a new video from Dave, especially when it includes the chicken cannon! Hope Character Animator continues to go from strength to strength.
Chicken Cannon is the most ridiculous puppet I think I've made, yet it came up like 3 times in different conversations last week. It's the gift that keeps on giving!
Yes, as long as the hand is inside the arm group you should be fine. Just don't tag the hands with anything else and don't make them independent. So the parent arm group should independent and have the elbow, wrist, and draggable tags on it, not any elements inside. If it persists, please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback for more direct help.
Is there a way to organize the behaviors in the scene menu? Because I have 5 different positions that I can switch in between and each have their behaviors now I want to order them in the main puppet menu but I can't seem to change their order.
They are always in alphabetical order. In Rig Mode you can rename them, so some people will do like "Face1" "Face2" etc to have them show up in a particular order.
@@okaysamurai Interesting, I numbered them, so I gave every puppet view a number, and then the order is a bit messed up. Starts with 5, then throws in some other bevaviour with a letter, then goes to 1, etc. Maybe I should just use letters. ;) All the master behaviors are in alphabetical order.
Can I add more than one trigger behavior to a character? I wanted to be able to view recorded triggers while recording over it but when I add a trigger behavior it only doubles everything (so I get a second character over the original one).
You can add multiple trigger behaviors, but it's not common and won't fix the issue you're facing. Yeah, as soon as Triggers is armed recorded data is ignored and you go into an active live state. You may want to consider turning some triggers into Replays - ua-cam.com/video/mZioGOAt8RE/v-deo.html - which let you have multiple things happening at once, which may help.
@@okaysamurai Thanks so much! I did that, I combined a few triggers and poses and made replays. The weird part is, that the dragging movements are still visible when recording again but the Swap Set Triggers aren't, even though I baked both (it's an arm pose and a hand swap in between) into a replay. So I guess the replay is still referring back to the Trigger of the Swap Set? Anyways, I'm getting a lot more used to record 2 frames and position them or to just record blind for rhythm and then fix it later.
Dave I closed my project yesterday, and reopened today, and now all my mouth layers for some reason lost their behaviors. How and what video can I watch to fix this?
CH auto saves so my best guess is something happened to the original art file (PSD or AI) that changed a name, group, etc - and now CH doesn't know where that old rigging is so it got rid of it. I would recommend finishing up your artwork before doing any heavy duty rigging.
@@okaysamurai Funny thing is I was watching another lip syncing video of yours and messed with The preferences and made sure I made each sound and it works fine now. But in rigging mode it still says it has no behaviors.
@@okaysamurai thanx for the advice! I am well aware that you are extremely busy, however I have become fond of asking you questions, as you have proven to be vey direct, more knowledgeable, and your style of communication is one that I can understand. Yes, via third party apps like Manycam or Camwist that make a "vritual camera" out of anything, including video files. You can select that virtual camera in CH and have it work as if it were a live camera.

Thanks 😄

I am using your puppets it's great I am planning to use in my UA-cam channel.
Wow!
Great information!! You are a skilled teacher!

Why some of the behaviors have small red dot indicators but some have big ones?
Small red dots are passive behaviors, which means it really doesn't matter if they're red or not - they're just happening behind the scenes.
@@okaysamurai Got you, thank you so much ❤️
Does Limb IK work with multiply instances of hand for example? I made a group of hands and want swap them. And Limb IK won’t work (

Is wiggler for Ai files only? What about Ps?
Wiggler currently only works with vector artwork from AI.

Huh, I just tried with numbers - "2 Face" and "5 Face" and that worked for me in the correct order. But letters should work too!

Yeah triggers can be tricky to think about all the different states, and it's easy to get stuck in weird combos depending on the character.
