Hey pls can i help me? João Faro Há 1 segundo Hey! I'm portuguese and i was trying to do an animation on Adobe Illustrator but i can't find the timeline :/ I'm using the Demo version and i'm thinking in buying the full version. Can u help me find the Timeline or maybe some bind for it ...idk Tks and great tutorial!
PSA for anyone else who watched this and was then looking for the staple tool when the vid got to 30:32 --- the staple tool is now automatic. Click on the thing you want to staple and under "layer," make sure that the "attach to" option is set to Auto. Thank you for the great tutorial by the way, this cleared up a lot of confusion!
I typically loathe video tutorials (preferring written ones), but this one is excellent! Direct, clear, efficient, and very well thought out and edited. Thank you.
I had watched many tutorials and spent several hours doing trial and error work with Animator. after this video, I feel I have a real grasp of how to use the software. Excellent work!
Easily the best tutorial I've seen on Character Animator - thank you! Your pace and delivery is perfect and it's made me realise CA is capable of a lot more than I thought. And now, I'm off to animate a rooster for a client...!
I've watched a hundred explanations about Adobe character animator. This is the first one that really helped me understand. I subbed before I was even half way. Thanks
Thank you sooooooooooooooo much for this!!! I made a 1 minute cartoon in flash in 2002 and it took FOREVER. I can't wait to try this! I really appreciate this tutorial. You are a natural born instructor!
Omg you are the best teacher ever you also got me a 4+ on my project I put it in a video where my guy is the person going through the video talking about my presentation thank you so much!
This is the best tutorial I have seen and I think it is wonderful that you do not charge people who wish to learn something new. If you have a site where donations are accepted, please let me know! You have honestly changed my life with this.
That's awesome to hear! I work for the CH team at Adobe so as long as you're enjoying and making great stuff you're proud of with it, that's repayment enough. Thanks for the kind words!
Dave congratulations. You´ve made a very big video(45 minutes) and i can watch till the end with attention. You explain everything so well. Congratulations once again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE TUTORIALS! I managed to create an animation just following all the steps you provide. With three puppets moving through three different scenes. It took me about a month, but I enjoyed it. And I did everything without having A clue..FROM SCRATCH! You are the BEST :)
This tool is so cool! I downloaded your puppet and put a couple of puppets with a green background and connected it to a switcher with a camera and am going to have a high school video production club explore interacting with the puppets today. Thank you for your tutorial and the downloadable files. Your puppets make it so much easier to learn.
I wanted to thank you for the awesome program and also for teaching me about it online. I've been watching your tutorials over the past week after having a hard time getting my head around animation (especially with the mouth). I tried apple motion but it's definitely not what it's made for and after effects just gave me headaches thinking about it. I love the simplicity of Adobe Character Animator and how after creating a character in Adobe Character Animator I can make him do so much and have him become so lifelike! I'm also excited about future features for walking (it might be cool to have some standard people animations too like jumping up and down and lifting up their arms, a fist pump, arsenio hall woot woot, type stuff)? Not sure how easy that would be, considering characters come in all different shapes and sizes. I wanted to share what I made yesterday with my character + a background movie I made to help people with Spanish. While the mouth isn't always as precise as I would like, I did my best to fix it in the noticeable places (on the sound "ah" like "mom" for example). I would love to get your opinion as I worked countless hours to achieve the final result! :-) Thanks and God bless. ua-cam.com/video/s6Jb03SMNQE/v-deo.html
Wow this is excellent! Thank you so much for sharing, love it - and learned a lot! We are working on better walking features and making the lip sync even better, so things should improve over time (we are still in an early preview phase). This is exactly the type of stuff that motivates me - people animating characters for the first time (and having fun with it)!
+Senor Jordan. Ha haaa... I clicked on your link to see what you created and I got drawn into the actual content. I didn't finish watching it but I know where to find it. I stopped at GHOTI (aka fish). And I had to immediately comment. I loved your video. Your talking animation was cool too.
Thanks! Glad you liked the vid. The character animation was all a result of Adobe Character Animator and the great tutorials Okay Samurai has put up. :-)
I cannot believe that I've never tried this, you've got a lifelong fan in me now. You're amazingly clear in your outline of how everything works--I'm not new to animation but I am to CA, I'll be binging on these for the next week. Thank you so much!
I need to watch all your videos on CA !!! My first project included a few hundred AE comps, 3d....it failed...I'm gonna try again, this time using CA/AE. Thank you and keep doing these fantastic tuts ! You're a very enjoyable person !
Just download the Adobe Character Design and fortunately, we have your free complete tutorial about the how to make these cool stuff!!! Please make more because we need your informative tutorials!!
Thank you so much for creating this. As an Adobe CC subscriber, it is easy to become overwhelmed by new releases. I know Illustrator and Photoshop very well, but have not toyed around with animation much except in Flash. This opens a lot of possibilities!!!
I finally started my first channel and made my first character - very crude, but lots of fun making it. I'm storyboarding the next idea. Looking forward to being able to upload one a week. Thank you so much!
This is an older tutorial - the newer versions make this easier with "swap set" triggers. Check out ua-cam.com/video/WzYJbZYhxmk/v-deo.html for more info. Nice channel btw!
Best tutorial ever. I have had so many ideas on animating, but I have had a hard time finding a way to animate without using frame by frame which I'm not so good at and other programs where I have to sync every mouth movement with my voiceover. Best tutorial ever.
This is a. absolutely fantastic tutorial! Really well done. It goes into just enough detail and explains everything well, without being draggy and boring. Thank you so much!
Overall nice video. BUT you assume a level of knowledge about Illustrator that not everyone has. I can follow along because I know Illustrator but you gloss over things (duplicating to make shadows, etc.) that not everyone would know. Either 1) slow down and explain further some important steps or 2) warn viewers upfront that you assume a level of knowledge of Illustrator. I can follow this but colleagues of mine who are not as familiar with Illustrator became confused very quickly.
Agreed, a basic knowledge of all the other apps mentioned here is needed (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, OBS, etc.) - there's not enough time to go into much depth with them. Next week we'll have a step-by-step beginner tutorial in Photoshop that should be easier for newcomers to follow.
Excellent. That will help them a lot. I will let them know. I've been playing around with Character Animator and my mind is already filled with ideas of how to use it. I am curious - any reason why you selected Photoshop or Illustrator for the beginner tutorial? I use both but tend to use Photoshop more. I'm just curious if there is a reason for your choice lol.
Photoshop is a little easier to understand, I think - Illustrator can get more complex with how it uses grouping, sublayers, isolation mode, etc. Statistically though, they're almost 50/50 for what people use in CH.
Yes sir you are absolutely right. It's too difficult to learn for beginners. I dont have such knowledge of adobe illustrator. it is like fast forward video for me.. too difficult to understand.. Please Okay Samurai make this videos in detail (Just like you made your Previous or first video related to character animator tutorial). so people like me can understand & learn an animation in depth. Thank you
Wow, thanks so much for the free Puppets and for allowing usage of them! Truly stellar stuff here! We homeschool our kids and among their Arts studies of Music Performance, Acting, Directing Videography, Post Production we've just begun Animation! It's something however I am new to so we are learning nearly at the same time lol THANKS again!
I was looking into how to animate a cartoon mouth in premiere and this was my first hit... thank God I have CC, already downloaded it and started playing with it while this video was playing. Thanks for sharing!
Hi! Samurai, what a tutorial you have made. I think you are not only a character animator but also a very good teacher. Thank you so much MR Samurai. I'm so happy that I want to invite you to visit my country.
really amazing effort,i noticed that it's took a lot of days to make this episode , all world should to thank you for your this effort. really thank you so muchhhhhh
+Okay Samrai Just like in after effects can we convert these character animations to a photo so like i can place it in my adobe primere make the character appear in my video short ad we were doing
Man! Why I don´t have you as my teacher? This is awesome! I have a new second favorite software (First is illustrator) Thanks a lot for this tutorial! :D
Your tutorials are awesome, clear, and concise. I am working my way through your tutorials. So far, I have successfully made a few puppets and export and import into Adobe Premier Pro. I am using this creativity to make chemistry classes fun. Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!

Great stuff, I`m totaly new in this, just thinking how to learn something new, this tutorial shows everything, how is nice, but and how is hard to make animations. Looks easy when you working. Best regards.
This is your best and most informative tutorial yet. It is an in-depth tutorial in character animator, finally.
Thanks! Took me a while.
It is awesome...subscribed

I'm using the Demo version and i'm thinking in buying the full version.

there is no animation in illustrator, for animation you will need after effects or character animator
There is now.
Yep thanks! This video is now "archived" as it has several parts that are a little out of date but most of it should still be relevant.
I typically loathe video tutorials (preferring written ones), but this one is excellent! Direct, clear, efficient, and very well thought out and edited. Thank you.
Thanks so much!
the best thing about your tutorial is that you explain every single detail so amazingly.I don't think I've seen someone else on youtube doing this.
Thanks!
I had watched many tutorials and spent several hours doing trial and error work with Animator. after this video, I feel I have a real grasp of how to use the software. Excellent work!
Possibly the best script of any tutorial I've ever watched. Fantastic video!
Easily the best tutorial I've seen on Character Animator - thank you! Your pace and delivery is perfect and it's made me realise CA is capable of a lot more than I thought. And now, I'm off to animate a rooster for a client...!
This is as good of a tutorial on a piece of software that I've ever seen. You've made a very complex program very accessible. Bravo.
Thanks!
You're welcome!
Ive had after effects for a very long time and i didnt even know about character animator. Thank you for this. this is awesome!
What a good tutorial! With most online explanations, I just get frustrated and try on my own. But this one is so clear, well done!
Gosh, it took me forever to find this level of tutorial. Thank you soooooo much!
i have questions about animation could you help?
By far the best Adobe Animator tutorial I've seen yet. This is super informative and super cool.
Thanks!
Omg you are the best teacher ever you also got me a 4+ on my project I put it in a video where my guy is the person going through the video talking about my presentation thank you so much!
Hands down one of the best tutorials I’ve ever watched for an adobe product. Thank you so much!
This is the best tutorial I have seen and I think it is wonderful that you do not charge people who wish to learn something new. If you have a site where donations are accepted, please let me know! You have honestly changed my life with this.

I'm officially switching to Character Animator for Face Animation
I don't think you left out a single detail, great job

Fantastic!
1:18 The single best advice for working with image based software. I print for "designers" who don't know that.
Thanks so much! i couldn't get this down because i was jumping around to much but this help me focus :)
Character Animator is a game changer and your extensive descriptions makes me a believer! Can't wait to try it for myself!

I too taught in schools* and my initial post unedited would have spoken of the "ease" I felt. " (in the classroom).
unfortunately my exuberance was met with disappointment when I went to adobe's forums. I won't bother you with the details. I shall seek some more.
Great stuff, I`m totaly new in this, just thinking how to learn something new, this tutorial shows everything, how is nice, but and how is hard to make animations. Looks easy when you working. Best regards.
