I think planets being named after the Greek word planetes for "wanderer" is less about their perceived retrograde motion and more the fact that they moved in general. At this point in history, no one knew that the planets were actually solid material, they only thought that they were stars like the rest of the night sky. However, unlike the other stars that kept their relative positions in the sky, planets moved around. They wandered, and so they got the name that represented that movement.

Badeni is my most favourite character in Orb. He is such a multidimensional character, he is clumsy and funny at times, stubborn and arrogant in others' eyes, but ultimately he is a truth seeker who is determined and courageous in sticking to his integrity and values. I love when he wants to open the book so badly cuz he craves that special moment to change history and do something big.
Oczy and Badeni is such a synergy showcasing the interactions between different classes, ideologies, and personalities of people. It really shows the beauty of people inspiring one another. Like how Badeni in this ep inspires Oczy to move the world together as he now learns more about the world and is able to open his eyes to look at the sky in a different way
I fully agree with you that its rare and thought provoking to have characters that are in the grey areas and believe in two potentially contrasting beliefs/values. It shows thinking and perspective don't need to be black and white, or all or nothing.

Me too! Badeni is my most favourite character. He seemed arrogant and self-absorbed ("the moment that makes _me_ special") at first and that combined with his level of intelligence, I thought he was even dangerous to the cause.
You express the synergy of Oczy and Badeni better than I can ever hope. Witnessing the box-discovery and star-gazing scene was touching. It's such a unique experience to be able to experience the perception shift from Oczy's POV and the moment Badeni earnestly shares something with someone he perceives as a lowly commoner. These seemingly solitary people are living in the communion of stars across space and time.
Also yes! it was funny he threw up when he got excited lol

@@El-Kuño (may contain spoilers in my comment) I agree with you that Badeni's vision if used incorrectly or in another extreme direction can be dangerous. I think Oczy's spirituality and empathy balance out Badeni's wild aspirations to be special. That's why them two coming together just makes me so hyped ><
Thank you for your compliment, I just really resonate strongly with both Badeni and Oczy. I aspire to be an artist and wanna be seen while at the same time I am living in fear of people's perceptions and think I am never good enough.
Definitely watching them two meet and change under the beautiful starry sky are just so moving to me. Especially when Badeni's arrogance renders him having people gossip behind him and having no friends, him willing to talk to Oczy and transfer this knowledge to him, enlightening him is unlike his character, showing he has changed and not that only full of himself anymore.
I love how you said "These seemingly solitary people are living in the communion of stars across space and time. " That's really the main theme of Orb. These people's visions are passed on through generations to bring us the knowledge and inspirations we have now. Watching Orb makes me feel grateful for what I have and anticipate to be part of passing the torch movement in any way.
I also laughed out loud when he was so excited after looking at whats in the box and threw up lol. Uoto is so wise writing Badeni not only as a serious character but also funny at the same time, making him very human.

@@Diehardanimefann (may also contain spoilers!) Oh wow so you know the whole story? So you probably remember the moment I thought, 'Brother Badeni is an outright danger to the humanity! Please someone stop him!' lol Anyhow, I'm super hyped for Badeni and Oczy too and I think that's because Badeni's character development is the most satisfying in the story. As you said, it's the balance between Badeni and Oczi that's so intriguing and it's what spurred Badeni's growth. And again, as you said, they are both very human and multi-dimensional.
In much later part of the story it comments on the nature of truth seeking and morality and that's another opportunity an interesting discussion can be had. I hope Otaku Spirit keeps commenting on this anime and our paths cross again. Best of luck with your artistic career, too. I am a scaredy cat myself and it was deceptively easy to change career paths when I observed any person can end up in 'talent and skill' industries only if they are willing to just do it. Adding real talent to that, you'd go to places!

@@El-Kuño (spoilers ahead) Yea I read the whole manga, I guess what you mean by danger is it about the duel? haha idk. He can be quite dangerous in protection of his own research. I am hyped too xd, I cant wait for Saturday to come, it is such a long wait weekly D:
The later part of the story is in fact quite controversial, some people don't quite understand what the mangaka is going to head towards. I need to read several times to get to understand and really appreciate the mangaka's different takes on truth seeking. I guess philosophy teaches people to constantly doubt and challenge our own beliefs and theories :p cuz like..change is the only thing that is permanent in life. I hope our path will somehow cross again ^^
Thank you for your best wishes :) Taking action is really important other than talent and skills definitely. I am also quite intimidated when I know others take initiative and have more courage than me and I will back down. But let's see I'm on the road of improving myself :D

I love Badeni's character. More peciselly how nuanced he is in his relation with science and religion despite how arrogant he is.
Who wouldn't be arrogant with such a mind while beeing surrounded by blind people complasing in ignorance.

I really liked how in this episode the mercenary literally learned how to read and write for the sake of some stargazing scene, and then forgot how to do it and in the following episodes even asked others what it was like to be able to read.

Yeah, I remember my science teacher once explained the origin for the word planet and did say it was wanderer because the Greeks didn''t understand it's orbit.

Badeni hesitates accepting Oczys book and words because he’s massively classist and elitist. It’s clear from the way he refers to both Glas and Oczy in this ep. “You peasant” “Not bad for a peasant” “They made me talk to peasants, I was bored to tears”. He is frustrated with the church because it’s fellow learned people that should be on the same level of curiosity and intelligence as him, but they’re not. People like Oczy though have to be tested and vetted before he allows them into his orbit and deigns them with explanations.

Here's to hoping we have Oczy and Badeni working together for a decent amount of episodes before Oczy gets caught.

DanDaDan is the only anime of this season I’m watching hahaha, not watching any of this stuff, just haven’t got the time. I’ve got a huge backlog of old anime to watch. I’m currently watching “Hundred” haha.
I actually just watched the final episode of Demon Slayer, I said I’d start watching it again when the mansion blows up, and wow they did an amazing job on this episode, sooo good. I actually didn’t realise we were at this point already, I haven’t watched since Entertainment District. But this is the point I’ve been waiting for, I loved this point in the manga.

Tell me you are a clown without telling me you are. A clown. Bro giving garbage statement like as if it make any differences.

@ It’s just an opinion dude, but your reaction to this comment screams “clown” more than my comment. My comment was just saying what anime I’m watching, you getting offended over a silly comment is just hilarious, it doesn’t even make sense, like “make a difference” to what? I’m just saying what I’m watching, I’m not saying anything other than that.
I don’t even watch much anime, I only read manga, haven’t got much time for anime.
