I just built a gaming system with this case, it is amazing. Temps are great as well, I threw in 2 Deepcool RF120M fans at the top, one at the rear, 1 at the front, and 1 as a cpu cooler fan. System never gets higher than 30 degrees celcius. CPU at full load running Prime 95 hovers around 73 degrees celcius, but this is normal, I was running a 7600k. Did you stress test using 2.66 version of Prime 95? It works much better for the 7600k,7700k, 8600k and 8700k.
Wouldn't this case make more sense given its $60 price point to house a more budget oriented system rather than throwing in an air cooled overclocked and notoriously hot running i7 and 1080?
Yes it would make more sense but in terms of testing thermals consistently, no. He uses the same cpu cooler, noctua fans and gtx 1080 for each test to keep it consistent in testing and testing out the limits of the case. There are plenty of cases around this price point that do way better in terms of cooling than this, like the NZXT H500
@@RymeofDawn However, this is a $60 case and in terms of real world performance and practicality for actual builds this video misses the mark. Its like getting upset that the Porsche engine you frankensteined into a Nissan Altima runs poorly
@@ktxdgqtx That doesn't make sense since a similar testing method is done with any good case review. Just look at Gamers Nexus review on this case. It was hotter than the Walmart Gaming PC which is saying something. The same components are being used is ever one of those cases and there are plenty of cases in that price point that do way better. If every case review was based on what configuartion would be optimal for it, then every case would have good thermals which would be pointless. Also, about the car engine analogy; that is also wrong since you can put a 1000hp engine into an old car and still be fine. That's why they are called sleepers.
@@RymeofDawn Youre missing the point of my comments. Yes, for benchmarking purposes you are correct and everything should be uniform. But for people considering purchasing this case, overheating it with these high end components that are mismatched to what you would actually build in this is pointless and of no help to anyone.
@@ktxdgqtx Well then just understand that the components you should fit with this case like a mid tier ryzen or intel cpu and a mid-low tier amd or nvidia graphics card would do fine thermally and should not be worried over.
I'm considering this case still because I will be putting my budget Ryzen components in it and I don't believe I will have overheating issues. At least this tells me that high end components will not work in this system well without upgrading the fans.
Poor cooling AND an acrylic window. I'd accept one but not both. If you're determined to stay at this price range, consider cases like the Kolink Stronghold or the CoolerMaster MasterBox Lite 3.1 or the Fractal Design Focus G.
I know this thing isn't the best in airflow because all those vent holes are too small to flow air well. Still I like the size for a full ATX build. I'd be willing to drill out the holes larger in the area of my fans, add my own taller feet, and maybe even use an SFX PSU. If your willing to mod, and I am, this could be an interesting case. It inexpensive enough that I don't mid experimenting and modding. You could easily down size your current ATX build with just a little effort. A compact ATX build would be cool and that compactness (especially for ATX) is very appealing to me.
@Matthew Rodbourn the appeal here is a compact size in a ATX case. The H400 is a m-ATX case only, no? Also there something I like about the look of this case.
It's very interesting to see how they've redesigned this. I have the Q300L and I'm pretty happy with it. Temps are much better but only mATX motherboard. One downside for me is even with the extra space you can still only have one 3.5" HDD even though it seems like it should fit two. Lighting also doesn't look great because of the dust filter but mine is a minimalist black grey build.
@@DocteurMolotov Mine's probably the quietest it's ever been, magnetic levitation fans help, but I'm sure a full enclosure would be even better. Idle is 31 on my stock Ryzen 2600 which I think is fine.
This case along with the Q300L are cheap enough to where no one should feel bad about modifying the case for better performance. GN did a mod by drilling up the holes, which seems to have confused everyone. Just cut a freaking hole (or square) where your fans will be mounted! It does not "compromise structural integrity" enough to matter. I have six 4.5" holes cut in my Q300L, yeah it's fine.
I own the previous iteration of this case : it is a great value for a micro ATX system, with the power supply at the bottom. Mine hase a very good airflow, but yeah, it has no sound proofing.
Looks like a 120mm CPU cooler with the RAD mounted in the rear exhaust position and a blower style GPU would work best for this case. That way all heat is exhausted straight out of the case.
My mini ITX case is roughly the same size. On the plus side it doesn't cook the case internals, takes more drives of any format than you have SATA ports on an mITX board AND has an additional hot swap bay, and it has absolutely no GPU clearance issues (takes a 14" card effortlessly). That being said I feel like the volume of the Q500L is criminally underutilized and still comes with a lot of compromises. It's still too large and has nothing to show for it.
It's an interesting layout, the size looks to be about the same as my Enthoo Evolv ITX case but obviously this fits ATX mobos, but it doesn't look anywhere near as classy and kind of cheap.
I have the Q300l for a year now with 4×140mm + 120mm fans inside and the temperatures are amazing! 27-30°C on idle and on full load 65°C is the worst case scenario! The only bummer is the noise levels because of the case being practically open since it has holes everywhere, but for a 35€ case ist's pretty decent considering the compact size!
I have a q300l and picked it because of its weight. And yes I realize that's a bad qualifier but I had a specific place I wanted to put it. the best setup I could do is two 140mm static pressure fans in front and two 120mm exhaust fans (throw away the stock one) on back and top back. I didn't bother putting an exhaust on the bottom because my power supply is stupid big and the short legs. The gpu doesn't seem to get unreasonably hot like the cpu though The top one is a result of a weird hotspot on the top of the case so I'm hoping the exhaust helps the heat escape quicker so it doesn't become a problem Everything considered I still ended up undervolting my CPU so it doesn't go above 80 and make all my fans ramp up extremely quickly.
This is also my first ryzen so I'm not completely dismissing the possibility the motherboard drivers are causing this somehow but I only got real results after disabling the boost clock (something something overdrive) and going into ryzen master and undervolting. The processor is a 3600 and is more than what I need but definitely a bummer that it won't see it's full potential without becoming unbearably noisy
I got the Q300L because I liked the size and price (€40 microATX), however my 980ti is getting choked so during intense gaming I remove the side panel and my gpu temp drops 10C.. This case is not made for higher power usage hardware!
I just built my new computer with the older q300l case. I drilled more holes and used better fans, and the cooling was a lot better. They should originally have made more perforations and it would be a lot better of a case. I used mine just because it fit on my desk better than any other case. Other wise I would never have spent time drilling all those holes! 😂
since most people have their cases next to them I am really curious if moving the power supply from the back to the front makes a noticeable audible difference
Attention, this case is only suitable for people who are not too lazy to think. Attention, this case is only suitable for people who are not too lazy to think. Attention, this case is only suitable for people who are not too lazy to think.
Wooooooww.....that's really weird. The PSU has to be mounted to the inside of the front of the case? Why? The MasterBox Q300L MicroATX case has the PSU able to be mounted on the bottom of the case, which is normal at least from what I have seen. So you can install 2 intake fans in the Q300L case but not the Q500L case. Very strange if I'm getting that right.
I took out the preinstalled fan from this case, and used the silverstone he02 heatsink. I got this case because it has a dust filter on the top to prevent dust from falling in.
Sean Wilson And how it’s been the temperature situation in your case since then? I really would like to get this case maybe it’s just a matter of adding the proper fans to keep it nice and warm and not hot
If top fans could be added to the outside with added cowlings to make them visually cool, then we could use the extra space inside as an option. K&N look nice
We have similar hopes/expectations form the CPU case manufacturers. What do you think about the fact that CPU cases don't have any way to accommodate IO from all Motherboard headers. Instead they usually have a few old ports. This is so outrageous to me. I wish there was a standard op panel on all cases (visible or hidden) and that its "front IO plate" would come with the motherboard, as well as all the header extension cables to mount into the IO panel. Still waiting for these huge problems to be addressed. Nice video btw. Have a nice day :)
The case is cool. I have the q300l. The reason why his case is so hot is because he didnt give a fuck and just installed 1 fan in there. I have 3 fans. One in Front for intake. And 2 around cpu cooler for outtake. My cpu cooler is massive aswell. So i dont really have cooling issues
I think if this case had taller feet and a better dust filter on the bottom it would allow for bottom intake and top exhaust. Two intake fans on the bottom and two exhaust fans on top. Maybe even rotating the cpu cooler 90 degrees to vent towards the top of the case might get better results. I like the compact size and overall look of the case. I think it has a lot of potential with a few small changes.
Looks like they tried to make a bigger q300l, but did it wrong. The lil buddy (which i have) is amazing, mesh looks clean and doesn't scream gamer as this one. Psu is located on the bottom and you have 5 total spots for fans ( 2 top ,2 front ,1 bottom close to the psu) and 1 good exaust fan.
I imagine someone put a lot of work into that dust filter, and was excited to see this video, and the first thing Dimitri says is it doesn't look that good
I have a question about this case : Let's say you don't use bottom PCIE slots on you motherboard, and don't plug anything in the bottom end of it, is it possible to relocate the PSU bracket to the bottom of the case?
Dunno but Cooler Master haven't released this case in many places, and they are really getting it checked by reviewers for feedback. They might actually improvise sometimes soon. Cause no Case maker would have balls to send it for so many reviewers after failing from the first one.
And what about installing 2x140mm from the bottom side, 2 of them on the top side and 1 on the front. I guess, temperatures will be lower. Also you can turn CPU cooler to suck air from bottom to the top and try it. Idk exactly, but it can make the situation better.
I'm going to do that because right now I'm getting atrocious temps. I have some extra fans from an old case so I put 2 120mm fans in the bottom and the one that came stock bottom right. I have a 120mm radiator for my GPU and i'm about to receive a 240mm radiator for my CPU. I really hope it helps cause if it doesn't i'm down 60 bucks for this POS
It would make far more sense to have a top mounted aio with two intakes mounted in the bottom of the case. Move the psu down and have a front intake at the top.
Can the PSU also be mounted at the normal spot (with some fiddling)? I´m thinking that if you´d use a smaller board, a liquid CPU cooler with a 240mm radiator at the top (out) and two 140mm fans at the front (in) you would get better thermals.
i have the Thermaltake riing trio 14 fans and it looks ok but the controller box is abit thick so it might not go into the back of some cases and they get really loud once they reach 1400rpm and above
What if...hear me out, you rotated the CPU cooloer to blow exhaust air out the top of the cast. Then, install fans on the bottom of the case. Then use the exhaust as an intake. Furthermore, use an sfx power supply that faces outwards for it's own air source. After, install a 120mm or 92 mm fan as intake below the sfx PSU. Finally, rotate the whole case onto its side with the "glass" facing up.This configuration would then have four intake fans, forcing air out the top (ake the right side when laying flat), with the CPU cooler assisting with exhaust.
Based on hole spacing on the top/front/etc, it looks more like it depend on passive cooling as its so restrictive for airflow. The small case seems super interesting , but the dust filter and ventilation needs to be improved.
I have 2 PCs in the house that use the Q300L. I love these cases. What value do you get for using ATX vs mATX these days? I'm tired of large ATX cases.
After playing for at 240fps when capped for an hour my gpu was only 45°C... I replaced the stock fan and added three. Theres also 2 on my gpu, one on my cpu, and one in the psu. Dont know if those count tho
I see your point, yeah the thermals aren't great. But it might not be such a big deal if you're doing a more budget build with lower tdp parts. You know, because the case is kind of in that price point.

I'm kinda surprised that both HC and Gamers Nexus didn't install fans on the roof and measure what effect that would have on temps. You can buy a 3 pack of RGB fans on Amazon pretty cheap, using one for intake and 2 at the top for exhaust. Both of these reviews feel incomplete.

this is a really cool case design and very compact. taller feet and a a few fans would go a long way and seeing as its so cheap, you could easily add those yourself. I don't see what teh appeal is with massive cases. If they did the same psu layout with the q300 that would be rad. mini itx is too restrictive and expensive
I've been a year with the 300L version and it's not good. The motherboard position limits the space on the top so it was difficult for me to fit a 120 mm fan. Also the one included doesn't do much. The filters got wrinkled just by taking them off a couple of times to clean the dust. And the holes make anny rgb look terrible. It looks really ugly without the filters The acrilic panel is more scratched than my old blackberry to the poin of making the inside of the case look blurry The bottom dust filter is really fragile and every time I take off the plastic caps, it breaks a bit more

On the Q300L I used an Arctic Freezer 33 for a while and it was much better, but still I'm not going back to the Q300L, the Ophion is half the size, and when my Big Shuriken 3 arrives the temps will probably drop like 20C lol
All that effort why not just buy a h400 and do a matx build
@Matthew Rodbourn the appeal here is a compact size in a ATX case. The H400 is a m-ATX case only, no?
Also there something I like about the look of this case.
My case is a Cooler Master Mastercase H500. With 3 200mm fans and a 120mm aio, my heavily overclocked system stays nice and cool.
Seems like a solid option for the price point! Also color seemed good? I'm not a specialist in that
It's very interesting to see how they've redesigned this.
I hate my Q300L. Noisy AF and warm. I replaced it with Phanteks P300 and I my CPU lost 10°C at idle and 5 at full load.
@@DocteurMolotov Mine's probably the quietest it's ever been, magnetic levitation fans help, but I'm sure a full enclosure would be even better. Idle is 31 on my stock Ryzen 2600 which I think is fine.
Or you use it for some low power usage components? If you already have a ATX mainboard this seems the only cheap solution for a little box ?
1:08 sounded like Cantina Band.
Am I the only one who recognized the star wars cantina being tapped by Dimitry @ 1:08 ? 😂
Most important part, it can be set as inverted case
I own the previous iteration of this case : it is a great value for a micro ATX system, with the power supply at the bottom. Mine hase a very good airflow, but yeah, it has no sound proofing.
The colors in this video is fantastic!
Looks like a 120mm CPU cooler with the RAD mounted in the rear exhaust position and a blower style GPU would work best for this case. That way all heat is exhausted straight out of the case.
If you have money for Watercooling, buy a different case...
@@janaebert3059 120mm AIO water cooler from Corsair is $60.00 US.
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt my boxed cooler was $0
My mini ITX case is roughly the same size.
Since when Chris Pratt does tech reviews?
The gpu doesn't seem to get unreasonably hot like the cpu though
The top one is a result of a weird hotspot on the top of the case so I'm hoping the exhaust helps the heat escape quicker so it doesn't become a problem
Everything considered I still ended up undervolting my CPU so it doesn't go above 80 and make all my fans ramp up extremely quickly.
This is also my first ryzen so I'm not completely dismissing the possibility the motherboard drivers are causing this somehow but I only got real results after disabling the boost clock (something something overdrive) and going into ryzen master and undervolting.
The processor is a 3600 and is more than what I need but definitely a bummer that it won't see it's full potential without becoming unbearably noisy
the fact that how much the quality has gone up
I got the Q300L because I liked the size and price (€40 microATX), however my 980ti is getting choked so during intense gaming I remove the side panel and my gpu temp drops 10C.. This case is not made for higher power usage hardware!
Best place for Cabinet reviews !
yup I'm trying to find a small case but just can't seem to find a nice one anywhere
since most people have their cases next to them I am really curious if moving the power supply from the back to the front makes a noticeable audible difference
The color on the video looked good! Don't mind the raw video.

Because he put a ATX board in there, no space at the bottom. If you use mitx you can put it at the bottom.
Why isnt anyone setting this in vertical airflow?!?! Intake on bottom exhaust on top its not that hard
As he just told - feet are too short for "proper" intake.
@@Black3ternityhow would he know without trying?
he did try at 5:19 , putting an intake below helps cool down gpu temps.. but it only helps probably around 1-2 degree celsius overall
I think cooler master should mod this to dual chamber case. And i think that'll make this case better and good
I took out the preinstalled fan from this case, and used the silverstone he02 heatsink. I got this case because it has a dust filter on the top to prevent dust from falling in.
Sean Wilson And how it’s been the temperature situation in your case since then? I really would like to get this case maybe it’s just a matter of adding the proper fans to keep it nice and warm and not hot
65 is toasty huh. My 2012 toshiba runs at 75 on my lap
This case is great in concept, maybe it will be better if they replaced the entire panels with mesh.
Mesh would be ideal because you can anodize it. Boom custom cases in multiple colors.
They should have made it a itx only case then the psu could be placed at the back and 2 rgb fans at the front.
I just put a 3080 ok that case, and I just ordered 3 phantek t30 fans. Considering using it with an open configuration
I fit a Radeon R9 290 in my Q300L with an inch or so to spare. Not sure if there's anything longer tbh. Card turns it into a real oven though.
Yoooh love the vids bro 👍🏼👍🏼
I have a Q300L. No complains here. The 500 looks "improvised" tho.
I hate mine. Noisy AF (and warm). So I replaced it with a Phanteks P300
I wish you had a SFX PSU in hand because i am curious of how the cooling for this system would of been with 2 fans on the bottom and 1 in the front.
I imagine someone put a lot of work into that dust filter, and was excited to see this video, and the first thing Dimitri says is it doesn't look that good
But, who wouldn't add fans to this case if using it?
Simple. Needs a rev 2.0 with 3x larger holes in the front. Get on it Cooler Master!
Nobody show a picture with the SSD on the back actualy connected. I am guessing it is a pain to connect the at least one of the cables there
What if...hear me out, you rotated the CPU cooloer to blow exhaust air out the top of the cast.
Tha backside io shield of the case, can it be moved if i want to put the power supply to the bottom back.
Would 300mm gpu and 160mm long modular psu fit there?
can my b450m ds3h (atx) fit in that case??
I have 2 PCs in the house that use the Q300L. I love these cases. What value do you get for using ATX vs mATX these days? I'm tired of large ATX cases.
Can I put the PSU on the bottom with a mATX board or does it have to be a mini ITX?
After playing for at 240fps when capped for an hour my gpu was only 45°C... I replaced the stock fan and added three. Theres also 2 on my gpu, one on my cpu, and one in the psu. Dont know if those count tho
Mini ITX for SFX-L ? Unknown brands dominate the market. Come on Cooler-Master !
I have a Cougar Panzer Max G case and the average temps are 45°
I see your point, yeah the thermals aren't great. But it might not be such a big deal if you're doing a more budget build with lower tdp parts. You know, because the case is kind of in that price point.
nickolas474 how do people always find excuses for 💩 designs and lack luster engineering? 🤦♂️
@@TheSickness It's bad, but somebody's gonna buy it. I'd prefer if they did so knowing half of a justification instead of just being an ignorant twathead.
nickolas474 a „justification“ for buying 💩, yup that sounds like full on twathead.
So they released a max tdp rating for the case? 🤷♂️
They call themselves „Cooler Master“ that is false advertising, because twatheads will fall for that...
Just a weird idea but how about using the rear dan as intake + 1 intake in the bottom and than switch the psu around and use this as an outtake fan.
Dude, i have a Q300L and was thinking in put an atx motherboard and transfer the psu to the front, just as in this new q500l... It will just neet an L power cable and attach the psu frame in the front...
I just ❤️ how Dimitri pronounce Input/Output abbreviation. He says AYOO👍😉
We actually did.
We actually did. Since the vertical airflow is limited without proper spacing or positioning of bottom intake fans, the temperatures still suffer. 😢
@@HardwareCanucks Good to know, thanks. Shame such a nice case has such a bad airflow even though it looks like it should be great.
@@GamersNexus Sorry, I must have misunderstood the large chart you made as I don't recall seeing that test. Good to know you covered it though. Thanks.
Would the case's troubled ventilation be enough for a PC with only IGP and no graphics card? and a non K Intel CPU?
65 degrees under load is good result - why all YT-ers and "enthusiasts" think their PC will run 100% load all the time lol.
This case is perfectly fine
i have too agree with you it's not the best temps in the world but it looks good even though he only has one fan and you can add more.
The longevity of the PC relies on how well the PC disperses elements that can damage it. If it can be better for the components.
Please can you give some solutions to keep low temperature in this casing ?
flip the rear fan around as well as the cpu fan. an ad 2 exhaust up top
Would you try out a cooltek umx4? Its a bit different but I think its fun to look at at least!
Hi can you compare this to the older q300l regarding temprature & cooling performance ? ... I am asking because there are some good deals about the q300L atm
install two 120mm on the top?
I thought about using the q300l for a pc my brother is going to build, but i allready saw on gamers nexus an your yt channel, that can get very hot... Should i use the q300l for the matx build? 🤔

Tanks for all the answers guys :) 👍
this is a really cool case design and very compact. taller feet and a a few fans would go a long way and seeing as its so cheap, you could easily add those yourself. I don't see what teh appeal is with massive cases. If they did the same psu layout with the q300 that would be rad. mini itx is too restrictive and expensive
Should have tested 2x fans bottom intake, 1 lower front intake, 2 top exhaust + 1 rear exhaust.....
It looks really ugly without the filters
The acrilic panel is more scratched than my old blackberry to the poin of making the inside of the case look blurry
The bottom dust filter is really fragile and every time I take off the plastic caps, it breaks a bit more
