    I think Bobby never got the recognition he deserved. He was the ultimate entertainer. When he sang you couldn't stop listening, you didn't just hear the music, you felt it. And that smile, how could you not love him just by that smile alone! There will never ever be another Bobby and it breaks my heart that he's gone 😔

      After reading various comments and articles about him over the past few months, I have the impression that Bobby Hatfield was ambivalent about fame. He certainly did love music though, and was an amazing performer. So it doesn't totally surprise that his name never got as big as one might have expected. He seems to also have quite the following on UA-cam these days, which speaks to what a voice and style he had!

      Although I'm older than you😊 I just can't understand how this man never received the recognition he so deserved. His misfortune was to be born too soon, had he started out in the 80s things could have been so different. Although, reading about his career I came to the conclusion he was ambivalent about fame and all it involved. Stay With Me is without doubt his masterpiece, recorded when his voice had reached the peak of maturity, before booze and cigarettes changed it. I am now in later years, his fan for life, there's absolutely no-one who gets even close to him.

      @@Elisa-ul2we I think he was too modest in a lot of ways. He didn't want a lot of fuss to be made about him. And being devoted to his family made him stay closer to home as well. In a perfect world he would have been a global citizen, because people all over the world appreciated him. Even though they only had access to '45s and LPs (at the time). However, posthumously, via UA-cam he has reached an unparalleled following in the millions. Rest in Power Bobby!

      I have their pristine first album right in my closet! I loved him,but in some ways I’m glad he’s gone bc seeing his son arrested for murder would have killed such as sweet soul as he was! & sadly Cocaine won….😢

    • @Aurora-tp3dy
      @Aurora-tp3dy 7 місяців тому

      @@DippyHippie What nonsense. His son was NEVER arrested/convicted of murder. It's some guy with the same name, a different state, not the same age, not the same face--the murderer's face is a horror, and no family connection. Bobby's sons are quite handsome, his daughter a beauty.
      These sites that identify that character as Bobby's son should be "virtually" smacked.
      Any parent would love to have children like Bobby's. Good people.
      Cocaine? If he was really using, with his health issues, he would have died a whole lot sooner. Just stop it.

      You’re right, Adam, they don’t. Bobby’s voice is certainly one of the greatest ever, and his Unchained Melody solo is legendary, and now all these years later, it’s astonishing us again!! Pop music out there now is painful to listen to. The lyrics are repetitive and stale, the melodies go nowhere, and the singing is dead, soulless. I see no talent, only the show. We seem to be in a cultural wasteland. Only classical and jazz have retained their integrity.

      Lorraine Ellison's original version is so soulful and real that it goes about as deeply honest as any art form can go. To think that Bobby, or anyone for that matter, would take on this iconic song is courageous enough, and then this dude Hatfield brings it all home again. The man was truly rare and human when he sang, as he sang. "Heartfelt and searing" indeed. I am 76, and have been loving music, particularly soul music, every day of my life since the early 50's. Bill escreveu a sua biografia. Mas competia-lhe honrar a memória de Bobby. E não só pela qualidade única da sua voz , interpretação empolgante e cativante, carisma. Principalmente porque… Bobby tem solos clássicos e inesquecíveis , e apesar de Bill também ter alguns … nunca teria a projeção no estrelato sem a parceria magnífica da voz e emoção de Bobby

    • @barbaral8973

      Bill needed Bobby like yin and yang, opposite but interconnected forces. He would have been nothing without Bobby. Bill knew that most of the women coming to their shows came because of Bobby. And he told Bobby so (the envy wasn't hidden). Bobby modestly and diplomatically responded, "they come to see you, Bill!" See Bill has the biggest ego, and it seemed to have gone to his head. He forgot that even though he had to push Bobby, he couldn't reach the audience on his own. That's the sole reason why he paired up with Bucky after Bobby's death. Bobby could be happy about small, mundane things. Bill could not. Of course now well in his 80s, he sounds more polished and smooth but many fans of the duo will never forgive him for the disservice he did to his brother in song. His book could have been a masterpiece, appealing to fans of Bill and Bobby alike. But I guess he couldn't help himself.

    Don't you just hear that pain and heartbreak in this song. That's where Bobby was the master. His voice takes you to dizzying heights and pulls your heartstrings. I've heard others sing this song and they were fine recordings, but Bobby had and still has that uncanny ability to make you forget about everything else. He stirs your heart and your soul.

    I am so pissed off at Bobby for dying so young. My husband, sister & I would meet Bobby & the band every year in Cohasset, MA after the show. He was a regular guy, no pretenses what soever. After 3 or 4 yrs. meeting him after the show, he asked my sister if she knew anyone who sold coke. She said no, but I can get you marijuana. He said he wasn't interested in that. This happened probably 8 to 10 years b4 he died. I had a premonition that Bobby would die young. My husband woke me up the morning after he passed away. I was not surprised, however, I was totally devastated. No longer could I see him. I can only say THANK YOU to every one who has posted video of Bobby on UA-cam. The most recent video of them at their bar, "The Hop" is great. I love you, I miss you, I can't say enough good things about you. I just listened again to "Stay with Me". Even though they had great success with Phil Spector, I think overall he held them back. They should have had many more hit songs than they did. I saw them the first time in Boston in 1965, when I was 15. Next time, I was 18. I probably saw them at least 20 times, the last time in Vegas in 2003. Although I understand where Bill is coming from, I'm not interested in seeing him & Bucky Heard perform. Nobody can replace BOBBY!!!! Thank you Bobby from the bottom of my heart for your extrordinary, soulful voice & the wonderful recordings that we can listen to. RIP

      Interesting Suzanne how you, hubby & sis got to meet up with Bobby & the band after the shows in MA. He seemed so down to earth but like many of us, he wasn't a going to the doctor kind of guy. His health was deteriorating with heart, lung, etc. problems as each year went by & were already large no doubt by the time he was 50. His stamina couldn't keep up with his life style & touring. He must of hid his need for coke at times to keep him high energy since Bill wasn't aware of him using. His poor wife Linda, who was already taking his death pretty hard, was caught off guard too when she was called with the toxicology report right after Christmas in Dec.2003 b4 it went public. She had a stroke & a worse one 2 days later on Dec.29th. The family sure had a lot to deal with. Bobby's voice is one of a kind & irreplaceable. I am glad there's many recordings & videos out there so we can at least hear him sing & talk but still rather have him here. Bucky Herd knows he can't replace Bobby but it's a dream job for him to fill in as best he can for Bobby to keep the Righteous Brothers music out there. There's no way it can be the same without Bobby but it's a way to remember & honor him which is a good thing. I don't even care if Bill can only hum a song when I go to their concert next March...Lord willing. I'll be 76 & Bill will be 81 then (Bobby would have been 81 too) but 57 yrs since I went to the last Righteous Bros. concert is way to long to wait any longer. Miss Bobby Hatfield. Love hearing his vocals on all these videos & songs.

      @@pharamathews5152 I'm sorry you feel the way you do about the cocaine. I never knew Bobby was into drugs, until my sister told me he was a cokehead. Not knowing what she was talking about, she explained to me the signs of someone who is a user. My sister had been into drugs for 25 years & knew what she was talking about. That's another reason why I had a premonition of his death at an early age. I still remember what he said to me when I asked him how long would they tour? He said as long as he didn't embarrass himself. The last time my husband & I saw them was in 2003 in Vegas, Columbus Day weekend. Little did we know that he would be dead 3 weeks later. And anyone who was around Bobby for any length of time knew he was using coke, including Bill, the band & his wife, Linda, & probably his children & close friends.

    • @pharamathews5152
      @pharamathews5152 3 роки тому +1

      Suzanne, I thank you for sharing and I actually really do believe every word you said. When I said he hid his coke using "at times" I'm sure he did as best as he could. I'm also aware that those closest to him, who knew him b4 he got hooked on it, would have noticed the change in his personality over time & pretended it wasn't happening so others & the public would not know. Common sense includes those you mentioned. Of course I still feel bad for his family & that he left this life before he needed to. Since Bobby definitely needed a heart bypass..his health issues sure didn't need an added illegal drug thrown in altho the amt. of coke in his system wasn't enough to kill him but obviously enough to cause the heart attack. I'm like the others who don't like to dwell on the demons of Bobby Hatfield but on good parts of his life and of course his music legacy. He & his voice are like no other. I can understand why you aren't interested in seeing Bucky & Bill perform. It's a nostalgic thing that my dear comadre is treating me to next March here in southern CA. Thanks Again for your input Suzanne and of course thank you for all the beautiful songs Bobby Hatfield.

    If you want to hear this in excellent sound, buy the CD "Bobby Hatfield: The Richard Perry Sessions." Believed to be lost for decades, Omnivore Records and Perry managed to find some of the finished tracks and several test tracks. Unfortunately, several tracks remain lost. It is an eclectic mix; obviously Hatfield and Perry had not yet decided on an overall sound. But this track and the stunning version of In the Stil of the Night make it worth exploring.
