Well, for me the Cabs I select has no effect on the tone and I cannot figure out why.I have a full list of IR's some to choose from. If I have a DI capture I don't know how to load a cab and if the capture was done with a cab I am unable to use anothe cab, whatever I choose in my drop down the tone of the capture will not change. Awesome video Michael, essential and full of useful things, no frills, bravo! and the tones are fantastic, especially with the tele!! What that clean preset n.2 "Calean" at min. 7' ??
As a harmonica player, this Tonex player seems very enticing, if ... it can be patched with the elusive combination of unobtainably rare & expensive amps that actually sound & work well for amplified harmonica. Whether or not it'll be achievable at any stage it's hard to say, but I love the concept of having an all-in-one tone box, then plug into a clean amp, FR/FR speaker or PA. I think the price point of the Tonex is pretty reasonable considering what other products cost. In the meantime, I'll sit on the fence and think about it.
Can you disable direct input monitoring if using it as an interface?, for example using it in Reaper to hear the pedal tones trough it's headphone out but at the same time the other USB signals come back, that way we can add more FX in the chain or another vst without having phasing issues while hearing the amp tones directly from the pedal and back again via USB

This is basically an interface as well as an "amp". You should have all the info you need on IK's sites as well as all the videos on youtube as of now.
Keep in mind that there is no power in the IK ToneX. If you want to plug into a cab you'll need a power amp with ToneX. The Blug is a complete amplifier.

When using the usb .. And it is set to interface mode. I can record on my daw .. Yet I cannot hear anything through the speakers ... I can't figure out why. Any advice
That's a pretty long a complicated question. Sample Rates need to match Tonex vs Daw. Audio engine selection in DAW, and Computer, input select in the daw, are the speakers turned on? Go little by little, step by step
It works into a power amp, you just have to turn off the speaker sim. Really easy. Similar concept of how Poe Poe use AxeFX or a Kemper live. Same idea
bought oneonline yesterday. I am wondering if I get a good tone out of it. I have a fender superchamp xd tube amp at home and want to play it through it. Unfortunately it has no FX-Return and the tone is far from a active (FRFR) Monitor speaker. But I am still gonna try it. Otherwise I´ll maybe use the PC speakers (which are also not THAT good). If those two options aren´t good, does anyone have expierence with using it with a low cost FRFR or some good monitor PC_Speakers?
You can run it through the input of a tube amp, but set the amp as clean as possible. You might have to adjust the Tonex capture's EQ a bit. Should still be pretty good. JBL makes great inexpensive monitors. (still several hundred $)
Great video! Glad you liked. Now you can donate your bogner fish to me then lol. This thing sounds good but I wonder how dynamic they feel compared to a real tube amp.

This is basically an interface as well as an "amp". You should have all the info you need on IK's sites as well as all the videos on youtube as of now.
I'm trying to decide between this and the Bluguitar floor amps.
Keep in mind that there is no power in the IK ToneX. If you want to plug into a cab you'll need a power amp with ToneX. The Blug is a complete amplifier.
That's really helpful info. Thanks man!
Excellent
Nice demo
great intro brother!
Great review
Does it have delay, mik3?
Hi Michael, I just bought this pedal and I connected it to my Tascam model 12 on channel 2, but I’m getting latency from the playing to the actual sound coming out of my speakers. I saw other that say you need to switch it between live and interface; so you know if that’s the case? Thanks!
Sounds like you'll be best off doing direct monitoring from the Tascam channel so the latency is as low as possible.
Nice tune man
Thanks!
Is this pedal just for recording or can you use it in a live situation with an amp?
It works into a power amp, you just have to turn off the speaker sim. Really easy. Similar concept of how Poe Poe use AxeFX or a Kemper live. Same idea
@@BigHairyGuitars Ok...that's how I use the Kemper.....sounds like an awesome pedal
Awesome and excellent video, pushing me towards the TONEX!!!!
Can this tonex pedal be use d as a mini controller for my graphtech hexpander guitar?
Oof. Sorry, I have no idea what that is
That solo at 1:08 is pretty fuckin' epic! 😯 Would love to hear it with some ultra wet 80's rack grease
+100
bought oneonline yesterday.
@BigHairyGuitars thanks. In which way should the EQ be changed top Sound optimal? Or does it depend from amp to amp?
@@MaDocDE It'll depend on the interaction between the two, but I'd start with EQ at noon, then adjust from there
Try one with a Fender FR12 and you will be very happy.
Anyone know where he sells that triaxis profile? I only see 2 tones profiles on his site
Hi, Right now all of my Tonex profiles are on the IK Tone Net store. www.tone.net/tonex/collections/big.hairy.guitars/tri-x
Is it connext to cab or just pc and monitors?
It doesn't have power, so it goes direct to computer, or PA. Or into a separate power amp THEN into speakers
@@BigHairyGuitars thank you i mean in this specific video. Did you sample it only with pc? with monitors or the sound came out of guitar amp
Great video! Glad you liked. Now you can donate your bogner fish to me then lol. This thing sounds good but I wonder how dynamic they feel compared to a real tube amp.
Just ordered the tonex pedal, will check out some of your packs, hope some Friedman stuff is in the works !
Interesting Wolfgang Special you have there…
Can this pedal also be used for tone capture?
No, you do this from your computer.
@@sveinunghamre324 yeah I figured that out. Should have deleted the question. I think it should be able to and I think it’s lacking an effects loop also.
Does this have delays in it?
No. Reverb compression and noise gate
@@BigHairyGuitars Ok thank you.
Fk yeah sounds Uber freakish great!
Would love to see an expansion with more buttons and scribble strips
Bit like FM9
I’m sure if this is a success there’ll be a big flagship box 🤞
For me it sounds similar to Line 6.Metal tones don't kick me like they should.
Too bad the ToneX software doesn't work.
in what way? Do you mean litteraly? They regularly update it.
I want tone coming "IN" my ears, not coming out my ears!😂
Mecojoni
Michael , love your channel and you as a creator but you looked like a news ancher selling gear on this one
not looking straight to us but reading a card , even at the end when it became between you and us as a listener , you were reading something. Just my two cents !
Bye bye Kemper
😂😂😂 They are giving these Tonex away like candy... it's saturated with video reviews... they want to sell smoke and plague the networks... they look pretty and people bite into the plastic apple... how funn
It’s junk. Not a single decent sound in this unit as far as I’m concerned, unless you’ve got thousands of pounds of gear to back it up with. Biggest con of the decade if you ask me.
Pounds as in Money? Or Pounds as in stacks of gear that weigh a lot?
