I remember the days when you had to SCOUR UA-cam for old Halo footage, and it was usually from that initial demo/trailer, with maybe some screenshots or snippets. Then here comes this dude, showing us a sword, and letting us play it
Literally like 30 seconds in and I gotta say seeing the AR have a moving bolt cycling animation in the ejection port @ 0:24 (at the back during firing) is amazing attention to detail dude! for 1999?

Believe it or not, the moving bolt is a point of criticism from fire arms experts because it's not required or functional for the charging handle to move with the carrier. That goes to show the difference between expectations of games vs professionals and who to design for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
some things I picked up on; 1:48, the word following TOZT-21 is "Defoliant", meaning the flamethrower is meant to burn away plantlife 2:32 "ICW" is possibly derived from the OICW program, which sought to create a combination-gun composed of an assault rifle w/ integrated automatic grenade launcher 3:45 "SWS" would mean "Sniper Weapon System" 4:25 "SAOS" might be a typo in the demo, I think its much more likely that the acronym would be "SACS" meaning Semi-Automatic Combat Shotgun 7:53 the smoke ejecting from the rear of the HUSK's turret could indicate that it's main armament is a kind of recoilless rifle, akin to the T114 (BAT)
Fun fact: Halo 1 was going to be Marathon 4 in its earliest stages but that plot line was scrapped quickly. It was later recycled as the Marathon player WAD Marathon Eternal, which predates Doom Eternal by 7 years. Episode 5 of Eternal was even set on alpha Halo, your guide was 343 Guilty Spark and the bad guy was Apep from Pathways into Darkness (Bungie’s Wolfenstein 3D/System Shock clone) but the 1.03 release for Aleph One and all future versions changed it to a shield world. Imagine Requiem if it had the power of all seven rings. Spark was also changed to a regular AI called the Watcher.

Halo 1 1999 Macworld Build is just amazing, and I'm blinded by its majesty 😮 The Assault Rifle w/ Grenade Launcher was my favorite and I wish it got added in Halo Combat Evolved or at least Halo CE Anniversary as an unlockable weapon or DLC.
I came back to D2 recently, and man, their new content (not the seasonal tho, the real one), the game design is f ing crazy They have and had imagination, and technicity. It seems that the kick in the butt that the whole community gave them for 3 month has work (a least), so I hope it will work with Halo studio too
For what it's worth, keep in mind that this was made on Mac, for Mac. I had it on my Mac back then and it was ahead of it's time for graphic quality and originality in story and gameplay mechanics. Mac has been derided for many years for lack of games, but this was so good, Microsoft bought Halo & Bungie to make it the cornerstone and main draw for the launch of XBox.

Another thing worth pointing out with the E3 2000 build is that you can see the same animations for looking straight down or up, minus the animation error that would cause Chief's head to face forward, which would eventually lead to the invention of machinima, but still very interesting to see these animations if that error never existed The E3 2000 build has a dedicated button for the head bobbing anyway as seen in the actual E3 trailer, so imagine if that was the case in the final game instead
0:51 i never undeestood why machine gun turrets have a penalty or why we haven't had many heavy weapons. From a lore perspective i guess we wouldn't use a lot for logistical reasons but COME ON we're supposed to be playing as super soldiers give me a hand held 20mm cannon or at least let me wield a 50cal mg without slowing me down

3:00 It's not the CE armor exactly, it's an early iteration from late 1999, though it is clearly the same overall design. It seems that the latter part of 1999 is when they decided to transition from the old MacWorld style armor to the Mk V design. 7:20 You totally can flip vehicles, I flipped the warthog and other vehicles many times in that build. I wonder what's different between your setup vs mine.
Is it just me or would this game have had similar gameplay to Helldivers 2? The 3rd person perspective is similar, and the way the crosshairs move across the screen reminds me of Helldivers 2 a lot
I think they have ONE chance with this unreal engine build, no unfinished at launch excuses, i think the community is torn and if they mess this next one up they're going to lose all support from those who actually love halo from the CE era

Halo NEEDS to go back to the 2000s art style. I don't know how to explain it, but the CE artstyle just feels so right.

"husk" is not the name for the stealth tank... that's just the string that shows up whenever you are pointed at another character or vehicle

The husk look very similar to a Swedish S-Tank or kind of like a MK4 merkava. Honestly prefer its general design over the scorpion.
