- As Israel orders the evacuation of Rafah, many Palestinians are returning to their destroyed homes in Khan Younis after Israeli forces left the city on April 7. Bisan returns to Gaza’s second-largest city, which once had a population of around 400,000 people. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians sheltering in Khan Younis were forced to flee in February when Israeli forces besieged the city for months. Now, as Israel bombs Rafah, many Palestinians are being forced to evacuate back to Khan Younis.
Bisan visits a mass grave site behind Nasser Hospital where almost 400 bodies have been uncovered. Despite the destruction, Bisan interviews Palestinians who are determined to rebuild the city.

Many of the adults have such an inspiring attitude despite the horrors of what they're going through. You can see it in the spirit and smiles of many of their children. What amazing faith these people have. I hope that peace is just around the corner and the world can come together to rebuild their beloved Gaza. It's the very least we can do.

I watch this in tears with my head down coz I can't do anything about it. But, is the whole world similarly helpless? If there is a war somewhere else, is everyone else just gonna sit and watch like this until everyone is dead?
Thank you Bisan for showing us what conditions on the ground are really like. I recently saw a video saying how the situation in Palestine/Israel is like the old South African Apartheid on steroids. After seeing most of a former “safe” zone in Gaza in total ruins, I truly believe that now. Genocide is never a valid response to being attacked. While Oct. 7 was horrible for many Israelis and the fact that the hostages have not been released is worrisome to many, the Israeli response has ended up being a total overreaction and that nation has now traded any moral authority they might have had in the international community for short term military security through imprecise targeting of militants in order to prioritize the lives of Israeli soldiers over the civilians of Gaza.
