Now get on U tube and post your project! I got the hood done and on to chassis tear down the rest of the way! Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello. Love your sleds and videos....thank you. I am hoping to put a 1979 Jag 3000 free air into a 1971 Lynx chassis. Do you think this will fit decent? I don't have the chassis yet. I can make a new engine plate and am not afraid to cut the hood some, re-rout exhaust, etc. Just looking for any recommendations before I go purchase a chassis. Thank you...pitter patter!!!

Steve, heck yea. I have seen a few of them on various group sites and almost bought that exact same combination myself, however chickened out and did my own project from scratch. What is neat about that one is you will have Mikuni, CDI Ignition, all the good stuff. You would have to make a plate for the engine. I was fortunate as I used a T1 Series KAWI motor that was BOLT IN by using a plate from lets say a 71-72 panther that utilized a T1A plate. The first year Jags used a 340 Kawi motor that would also be BOLT IN like my T1C was. Either way it shouldn't be a big deal. Hood choice might be something to consider. I love my MOD hood and have seen Suzuki power under that same hood with the cylinders sticking out. A big mouth hood might be a good choice too. I do not ride mine much when it is warm(er) out just to be safe. I stick to RAT CAT and the FAN motor. Good luck on the project and make sure to start your video editing skills!

Did you literally build the track with rivets cleats and belts? Thanks.

Tom, good question. This is a recleat of the original track. I have a video in the HOW TO section detailing this out. Unfortunately there is one source of belting (DR MARIO) and they are VERY expensive. These belts are super tough so they have to be pretty bad to scrap them. I tend to buy NOS or new cleats (you can buy them from DR MARIO or Arctic Restoration) on most of my tracks I do. Its just something I don't want to have to worry about later. Rivets are available from McMaster Carr.

Well, always on the hunt. Those came from a garage of a coworker who was cleaning out his fathers place. Been in the bags for like 20+ years apparently. All my other selds have old skis that are blasted, patched up as needed, and then repainted. I am not too worried about having period "CORRECT" skis so just try and keep one repaired set around. Couple 2-3 hours and I can have them welded up and ready to go. Not sure what you are building, but picking up a parts sled or two always helps. I am constantly getting parts to my buddies who need stuff. Plus I am always picking from the pile. Best thing I ever did was get a couple of nearly free 73 cats and tore them down to the smallest item possible for parts. Again, as long as you are not too picky on period correct stuff, the 73 platform has a ton of stuff that crosses over to a lot of other Cat platforms. Arctic Restoration has them on their web site but as of late 2021, showing out of stock.
