This is one of the reasons why I love my Pastors (Jasper & Alecia). Their TRANSPARENCY has always been present, and they always lead with open arms. Thank you Pastor Bryant for this broadcast and giving Rev. Williams the opportunity to shine a light on a subject that is so needed in our community.

In 1988, Bishop Paul Morton would host Pastor Jasper Williams at a Fall Revival at Greater St. Stephen FGBC. My father took me to the revival as a young college student. It was my first time at Greater and hearing Jasper Williams. I returned for Sunday service, and I have never looked back. My life changed for the better. It was the best decision of my life, and it changed the trajectory of my life. This has been THE BEST episode of your podcast since you’ve started. This is going to help so many. That Cornel West statement: “Your generation has a brand, mine had a cause.” #micdrop 🔥

As a mental wellness advocate, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. After being raised in a home where both parents were DEVOUT followers of Christ, with three siblings (male), all of who were affected by severe mental illness, I decided in 2016 that I'm not keeping quiet anymore. My brothers' stories did not end well. The gap between the "church" and the mental health community definitely needs to be bridged. We cannot PRAY everything away. Ask me how I know.

Bishop Paul S. Morton, wrote a book several years ago about himself in this topic. A very good book. He came to Salem Bible Church, I believe it was doing Revival time, West Side. Thank you Bishop Jamal Bryant for your podcast and having Pastor Jasper Williams III, on. We're all in the ship together trying to cross over to the other side. And we will make it, even if it's on broken pieces, and not one will be lost.

Thank you both for sharing. I could write book on this session on all levels from being former pastor’s wife to raising kids of a pastor. I always advocated for therapy and counseling but was told “just pray”. I have watched my children struggle because of the mental health of their father and my willingness to keep our business in our house. Pastor Williams you are so correct that it shows up when you reach adulthood. Our situation even became violent and resulted in my ex going to prison. Our community needs this so desperately! Thank God for my pastor Dr. E. Dewey Smith who preached weekly and embraced my children and this allowed us to begin the healing process. Our lives are better after much work but as Pastor Williams stated, it is an ongoing process. Tears 😭 are flowing but thank you both for this wonderful session and May God continue bless you both ❤❤❤❤🙏🏾

I also take meds that include sleeping tablets. When I read what I write to friends or journal, I can't remember writing it and it's gibberish. I'm witnessing for you Pastor, as you witness for me.

Years ago, I found myself standing before a congregation of people. As I looked at their expressions, I sensed that something was amiss. In that moment, I couldn't help but ask myself, what could be causing this unusual atmosphere? I heard the spirit say that it pertained to mental health. The following day, it was confirmed when I discovered a mental health program on my computer from an unexpected institution. I enrolled in that program and after a few years, I successfully earned a degree in MH counseling. I kindly request your prayers as I have an important task ahead of me to assist the people of God, which I am compelled to undertake. Thank you to both preachers for your courage, compassion, affection, and thoughtfulness. Dr. Bryant, I appreciate your attentive listening demeanor, very sincere!

    Leaders are ACCOUNTABLe.
Thank you both for this intelligent conversation.
What a way to speak and honor your father….. despite him being away.
Such a compassionate conversation and really resonated with me personally.
My father is in spiritual warfare and he is a pastor….. leading people actually follow. I left the church at 24…. I knew there was more to GOD.
I will not give up hope that my father can overcome by the blood of testimony even if it has to come through inspiration from others.
    “What I didn’t get, I gave them”
    -Love this statement about children.
    Gods Grace is sufficient.
There are so many gems in this conversation….
Thank you Pastor Williams for being authentic and connecting with GOD in order to do the work that moves us Forward Together.
