Don’t you think you as a black man should be more concerned with staying out of jail and stop having babies out of wedlock?

From what I hear men say, educated, critical thinking, and ambition are unattractive in a woman to black men. These traits are considered masculine. So either we’re ghetto wealth fare queens or educated with attitudes (aka standards & expectations of commitment & honesty), to black men. I think this perspective is a cop out to wanting everything your way & not compromising to meet the wants and needs of a woman & family beyond food, water, shelter, and sex.

I was a P.K. my parents didn't have the birds, and the bees talk with us either. So, at 18 years old, I became a father. Being that my father was the pastor, I had access to plenty of girls, and their mothers would push their daughters on me. When we would go over to members' houses to eat, the mothers would make their daughters fix my plate and tell them I was a good young man. So, not only did I not get the talk from my parents, but the older guys at the park, school, and older family members told me to get as many girls as I could. Of course, now at 52 years old, with three adult girls who are college educated with great jobs, two of whom are married with children. One single with no children, I made sure to talk to them about the birds and the bees, and I kept it 100 according to their ages as they grew about everything to include finances. Even my oldest daughter of the three who I had at 18 years old is a great woman and mother!

I’m not dark enough and so have not experienced that in the dating area, but I have heard other people say that when referring to some of my darker skinned friends. I have two light skinned sister, but never really felt that I was shunned because of the different skinned toned. I did feel this in corporate America though definitely. 🤦🏾‍♀️

"What would you want God to take out of you that you want in your wife?" Uuuummmmm I love that question. I just love how wholesome the conversation is and I'm picking nuggets not just on love but parenting and not projecting on our kids which is something I have been working on and being intentional about. My Dad had a conversation about gifting my kids a home and had a whole conversation with me about real estate and how to go about it... thank you for so much value that you shared. God bless you.

I think we fail at understanding mental health and relationship with God. Our dialogue with people in crisis is definitely ignorant and insensitive.

Bishop Whitehead is so busy trying to explain to third grade readers his innocence. The only explaining is to the federal appeals court. The Internet cannot set aside your 9 years for prosecutorial misconduct.

Ignorant it is. To solve a problem, like a math problem, all rules all variables, and all information must be applied to solve the problem correctly! Get one part of the problem wrong and it's wrong from the top down! To claim mental illness as a fix-all catch-all for a problem being masked is detrimental on many levels.

Money does not generate money. Labor does. What you’re aiming to do is extract the profit from others labor to line your own pockets. Why are black people poorer? Because a few white people have used this oppressive structure for centuries to extract their labor value. Just because you change who’s on top doesn’t mean others don’t still suffer. A system which ensures all people have enough and that no one has a billion dollars while others starve or die from lack of medical care is probably a good one. The only strategy which works under our economy is one that hurts the very people who generate value. We need to change the economy collectively, not just individually attempt to escape the pain of poverty.
