So much slow movement in your track. So much "Éliane Radigue" can be found. Just beautiful 💎.

You have a vid showing your set up and what is there and why? SO COOL

Hi again mate 😊 I think this one is maybe my favourite that you’ve made… of the drones anyway. I think it’s ace. What is controlling the really slow modulations?
I’m listening to this while looking through a friend’s old picture’s of some abandoned buildings, some of which have a dark history, and it’s working so well 👌 awesome

It is a 1004 oscillator in LFO mode. The reach frequencies below the minimal value of the knob, you must apply a negative voltage on one of its inputs.
And to get a negative voltage, you can send any positive voltage into the "in A" input of a 1005, in "unmod" mode, you'll get an inverted copy of it on the output (hence a negative voltage).

@@lnefpd Wow thank you! That is great information thank you 🙏🏻 I’ll be doing that when I get them 🤩

bro, you have the best 2500 set up I've seen anywhere. I've always been dreaming of a real 2500, but you have made the dream set up. so how close to the original is this set up? and can you make a list of all the modules in the 2 racks? I love the wood racks! the sounds are just amazing.

The current modules in the setup :
      - 15x 1004 oscillators,
      - 6x 1047 multimode filters (2 poles),
      - 6x 1003/1033 EG,
      - 6x 1006 LP filters (4 poles) + VCA
      - 4x 1018 noise sources,
      - 4x 1036 dual S&H,
      - 7x 1005 ring modulators + VCA (actually it can do much more),
      - 5x 1050 mixers/sequencers,
      - 4x 1027 sequencers.
And it is actually quite different from the original : the ARP 2500, due to its special modulation matrix, could only have a limited number of modules (i think 24 for the largest setups : front panel with the two wing panels). The original modulation matrix let you combine any number of modulation sources for each destination. To mimic that on the Eurorack version by Behringer, the key module is the 1050 mixer (with which you can combine up to 8 modulation sources).
The cabinets are two Doepfer « low cost » cases.

@@lnefpd nice bro. any estimate on the cost to build out this bad boy? I could get on line and do the math, but if you have a figure handy.. I may sell off a few synths and build something similar. it's really great what you've got going on. Behringer should kick you down some modules as your the best advert there is for this line..

@@InFamousProductions The cost is about 1 800 € for the cabinets and 5 000 € for the modules, so around 7 000 €. The number of modules here corresponds to 2 or 3 original 2500s.
That's a big sum, but it is still quite cheap in comparison to the price of the real machine. The ARP 2500 is now a collector's item, so its price has no more meaning. The System 55, by Moog, is a reasonabe equivalent. A re-issue has been made a few years ago, it was sold around 32 000 € (as far as i can remember).
And last but not least, something to keep in mind : we know that the original machines still work after 50 years of use. It's impossible to say if the Behringer low-cost versions will have the same durability.

@@lnefpd thanks very much for that analysis . very helpful. So I could spend around $3000 for a decent set up close to the original in performance.

do you have only 4 oscillators? Are you using your filters as sinewave oscillators? You have multiples of a number of modules.
Which ones do you use the least (i.e. at the end of a video you have not used one or more of that type of module ). I hope that makes sense.
Another way to ask this is " if you were to get a new module, which would be the first type of module that you would remove? "

    • @lnefpd
      @lnefpd  8 днів тому +1

Actually there are 15 oscillators in the cabinet (two squares of 4, a line of 6 and a single one on the bottom left corner, out of frame, which i use as an extra clock source for the sequencers).
I don't know which module i use the least. I'm never using all the modules at once, but i've precisely assembled that setup to experiment with many modules of the same type (currently i'm exploring patches with many 1047s).
What i'm quite sure about is that the two more useful modules are the 1005 (it is a ring modulator, but it can also be used as a complex VCA, to things that approaches the modulation bus of the MiniMoog, for instance) and the 1047 (multimode filter and resonator, and interesting sound source when modulated at audio frequencies).

Wow. When did you get the second cabinet ? A quick survey of these cabinets would make a great video.
