Thanks for uploading this. Concise and informative, and contained everything I needed to connect an armoured cable to a junction box. I had been scratching my head, but after watching it became crystal clear.
Very helpful video, thank you. Personally I would always check earth continuity when finishing this job..a bit belt and braces I know, but..... Not going to comment on how the chap in the video was using the knife and hacksaw, all been said before! Hopefully a first aid box was nearby😱
I've seen a lot worse attempts at making off an armoured end but got to say that no way he was able to snap off the amourings with such a light scoring( guessing that's why the video missed that part off!). Plus I'd have used a brass bolt and if all I had was a roofing bolt I think the 11mm spanner would have appeared rather than the pliers!!.. Never saw the pencil being used, was that used for the sandwich shop run???😁
I like to think that Hull College might have updated their training procedures since they put this video tutorial online in 2013 but, the fact that they still have it shown online in 2021 would suggest otherwise. Having spent 43 years in the trade I am shocked that a College is teaching a potentially dangerous method for using a Stanley knife but, in my opinion this is just another example of how over the last forty years the amount of regulations, qualifications and training courses have increased massively as the actual ability, craftsmanship and quality of material used have all gone down hill.

Thank you - excellent explanation and demonstration.
Anyone else feel un-easy watching this guy shake while cutting the shroud at the start? haha
Jesus is he hungover? Or just terrified he is about to cut his hands off (he's not far off)?

👍👍👍
Advisory: should wear safety gloves when using knife, and don't cut upwards.
Good shit thanks

Alasdair seems unaccustomed to physical labour and the use of tools!
Too much armouring showing, Iyiu should always cut 10-15mm
