Nothing better than spending my weekend watching another dude mow his lawn
Thanks for that reality check.!!
Lol 😂
I would not have time to watch any dude mow his lawn.
@@HsingSun but you are here watching
My wife said what are you doing, i said watching people mow their grass, she said are the any videos of grass growing, I said i don't know why?. Because your a F%^&%$ idiot !
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
I’d like to see how that mower does on 6” or 8” or taller grass/weeds! Thanks for showing this to us, brother!
6"-8" isn't a lawn bro, it's a pasture.
lets see headlights on a push mower now there is an important feature to crank your battery's down faster. not like ima cut the grass at midnight or anything
They’re quiet enough for you to do that without waking the neighbors though.
@@simpledanman I bet it is if it doesn’t need it hit the high RPM mode and the neighbors isn’t closer than 50 foot
I like that the mulching plug is built into the rear flap. I have to remove the mulching plug in my Kobalt 80V mower for bagging. I use it for trim work and mulching. It can be self powered without the motor engaged. I have DeWalt 20V tools and accessories, but my battery outdoor tools are Kobalt 80V.
Hey thanks for doing this. The instructions were too tiny to read and this demo online was just perfect. Thanks
Great review I'm interested in purchasing one and can't wait for the comparison to other battery powered mowers
I just found the wife's Mother's Day gift.
Fantastic Tutorial Nice Job man !
Love those huge Battery's and what a Machine !
Great review travis, i'm buying one this summer. 🌾🌾🌾
What’s nice is most people who own dewalt line have plenty of battery’s to pop in for more runtime it’s not another battery style . I can see getting use to front wheel drive may take a minute to learn . I’ve only used reel wheel drive one’s .
Forget the mower, I want that pickup truck :D
Haha... Those things are fun as hell... We used them as duty vehicles in Japan.
Looks great. Great review
Once you get used to the front wheel drive you will prefer it I think. As you said I often keep the wheels running while I pivot and change direction which is hard to do with a rear wheel drive.
I've never actually seen rear wheel drive mowers. I've owned several self propelled, all front wheel drive. Rear wheel drive just seems ridiculous to me with the way you turn and pivot a mower.
Finally, a mower that has front-wheel drive which makes it so much easier to turn around without disengaging the self-propelled.. Dewalt did their homework.. impressive
RWD would be better. more traction
thanks for the video! I hadn't seen much on these newer models and I am moving into my first house soon so this was perfect. I already have two 6ah flex volts so I am curious what you think the run time would be on those as backups. I have had my eye on similar priced Ryobis and Egos, but it would be nice to stay in the dewalt family if it makes sense. Thanks!
Love the front drive keeos u from dragging the mower around with the drive engaged and a def plus is the price of the unit those batt will sell for the total price
Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk. CV-63. Jan 1980 to July 1983.
I used 3 cable ties to keep the power cord out of the way for the catch bag. Also, added a tether cord to the safety key. Don’t want to loose it
Pretty cool mower
I bought the 2020 version, first version, early last year. It does well... The only issue that I have noticed is the original DeWalt struggles in very thick Bermuda if I try to scalp from 3 inches during the fall season. Wish they would make an effordable battery powered Reel Mower> :)
they did make RWD
It looks really good. I wish they had an edger.
I just bought this for my wife lol YES she mows the lawn... This thing cut foot long grass like nothing. I was skeptical at first after watching you cut grass that didn't need to be cut lol
Do you still recommend it?😅 About to get one today.
I'm going to get the Dewalt weedeater and that lawn mower this year.
HelLo...Hey Did You Get Them That Weed Eater ROCKS#1, Mower Seems Good, i May Just Get the Push ModeL-?
I gotta get one of those 10ah batteries 😮
Buy the mower and you'll have two.
Did you figure out the speed control like how it works, Walking speed and how many high's do the handle have ?
Good review. As this new mower is clearly built off the troybilt/cub/mtd machine, I wonder if dewalt actually designed the electric motor assembly or if it ends with the batteries paint and decals. I wish they would have used the High rear wheels on the non-propelled model.
can u confirm?
Great video! Can these dewalt batteries be used interchangeably between the power tools and outdoor tools? So many dewalt models I don’t even know which one is current anymore. Any videos on these for beginners like myself ?
I’d like it with a mulch blade that shreds to smaller pieces! How does it compare to the ego newest one they have out? I’m a dewalt fan but didn’t like the first gen so went with the ego
Mine just stopped working after three years. I took extremely good care of it, and the batteries are fine. I have no idea whats wrong with it.
Is there room in the battery compartment to stow a spare set of batteries in there, too, along with the two that are plugged in?
STRONG YES, 20V 10AH battery
I’m used to a push mower. My yard is pretty flat, with a small corner where being self propelled might be an aid. Can the self propelled unit be simply pushed without a lot of drag from the drive system? Continuing to push my mower on the flat areas of my yard would conserve battery charge, and I’d use the self propelled feature just on the slope
I’m out here in the Tampa area. My bro just bought one for his new house .
They make th3 best products .
Dug your review and pace. From the box to those speed laps. Hoping for upcoming spring deals but may just add more yellow/black to the garage.
You're in Florida right, looks like right next to a jungle. Ever get any huge pythons, gators or venomous snakes crawling in the yard? We got pretty big black bears in ours and we live just an hour north of NYC. The only venomous snake we gotta watch out for is the copperhead and they hide away during our New England winter. Thanks for your review and interest in electric lawnmowers. Keep safe 👍
I have mower envy
Waiting for them to release a 2x 60v
Is there any risk of damage to the wheel motors if you push the mower while it's off?
I Love all tools Dewalt
Does the new push model come with 10amp batteries?
When self propelling mode is not activated, does it still engaged with the motor (aka requires additional force to push it)?
A year later are you still using this if so how has it held up?
could you lay the handle all the way down ?...say to let you mow under a trampoline etc?
Nice mower, may have to get the girlfriend one for valentines day!
Offer to charge her batteries too!
I like your style, I got my wife the 10”dewalt table saw for Christmas.. needless to say she wasn’t as excited as I was about it.
Lmao you are one smooth brother my man. Hehe
I love DeWalt tools, I'm not sure on this mower, although I am sad to see this after valentine's day, I would have bought her it just to see if it was any good, got her the brushless chainsaw last year, talk about ungrateful, I'm the only one that uses it, ha, 👍
You need to keep her!
Awesome truck!
I wonder how the variable speed dial works on the bottom of the handle, I bet is just adjusts a cord that somehow engages with the drive belt, not a very sophisticated way. If they had a separate electric engine, you could control the speed of that independently.
It may be the only battery electric that does it, but my Yard Force YOLMX225300 120V L-iOn allows you to engage the drive wheels without the blade spinning. Way cool. It's a beast, too. However, it IS pricey.
Ryobi and Makita mowers BOTH will engauge the drive wheels with the blades OFF :-)
Hello, Between Echo and DeWalt for outdoor tools such as blower, trimmer and lawnmower, which in your opinion is better value? Thanks.
They’re all completely different machines from experience the small blower works great and doesn’t drain batteries as fast as someone would think
what's the "long term update on this? any issues? concerns? etc thanks
I wish Milwaukee made a mower like this; I have thousands of dollars of their cordless tools and batteries. Might have to get some yellow stuff now. Would be so nice not to have to mess around with carburetors. 4-stroke push mowers are garbage too. I don't think my 2-stroke LawnBoy has another season left in it.
How can you tell if the flex volt batteries have 18650s or 21700s? They look the same to me and I am trying to figure out how I can tell.
Disclosure: No leaves or grass blades were harmed in the making of this video.
Just American jobs
Lol reviewing a mower with already short grass.
Oh jeez lol.
Got one today from HD. PAID $500-50 FOR HD credit card sign up. Seems not sold online and only in store. Seems the newer mowers use 2 9ah flex- volt batteries. The non self propelled mower has 15 minutes more run time otherwise the same mower for $100 less
You say the cells are 21700 but i dont see how thats possible. Its slightly larger then the 8ah but smaller then flexvolts 9ah and 12ah at least height wise. I have the mower myself now too but i wasnt trying to open up the battery. Have you done so? Its seems to me they are 10 cells but have to be larger then 21700 since its bigger then the 8ah. Can you confirm the cells it has?
when did this come out?
My wife wants that little truck.
How does the mower mulch leaves?
Looking forward to their snowblower and microwave
wait what!?
@@sawyercarlston5105
Since dewalt is making lawn mower now, pretty soon they’ll be making everything else snowblower/microwave etc..
Cordless Job sight microwave, yessuh bub
does it cut grass taller than 2"?
Can you find some tall grass that's about 4" tall so I can see the cut pattern in the grass? The yard full of weeds doesn't show much. Perhaps you could find a yard with St. Augustine so I could see how good the grass looks after a cut. I buy a mower based on how it makes my yard look after the cut. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Great video and presentation! I noticed that the pile of leaves had leaves that weren't cut up. The whole leaf was still intact so does that mean it was not in mulch mode? Almost as if it has a lot of vacuum. Very interesting.
Well, as we are in the middle of Winter, even here in Florida, there is no growth of grass to cut yet. That's why I cut the weed mixture, as that's all I had to showcase it currently. As soon as I get some fresh growth I'll be posting another video. I also just got in the new EGO SelectCUT XP and 42" Zero Turn. 👍
The manual says 5” max, I had a 10’x4’ wide strip that I had no problems with. The grass was over 4” high. Motor sped up as it should. Brand new blade. Used self drive mode. Did not slow down 1 bit. Was setting 5:
The manual says don’t use in reverse mode. I did this a lot with my gas mower.
That's a hell of a machine and especially for the price! Little disappointed with the front wheel drive as I know what you mean I'm so used to having the rear wheel when you put force on the handle doing turns, guess you would get used to it. Unreal how far these electric power Motors have come. Battery technology. 👍👌
Does DeWalt make a step counter?
What cells do the 10ah batteries have if they are slightly larger then the 8ah?
He says in the video that they are 21700 cells
How does it do on hills? How long do you think the 2 10ah batteries last. Looks great
It lasted 65 mins fully charged for me has a hard time with tough grass and if you have waited awhile to mow it definitely will shut off quite a bit. For an electric mower I thought it was good but I’m returning and getting a gas powered. His grass was super low already mine you have to move the speed of a turtle or it will clog. Just my two cents
I have a 3’ high hill. The issue I had is that the front drive wheels come off the ground. Had to make a special effort to keep them in contact with the ground. I got the flex batteries.
Is the chassis plastic, steel or alloy?
Why where most the leaves the mower picked up still whole, shouldn't they be smashed/chopped up ??
Because of the height he was cutting on
The blade turns at a very low RPM until it get into heavy/thick grass , not fast enough to actually mulch up the leaves . With that said I have used mine several times and so far love it.
Dewalt is my favorite tool company but the best cordless mower is a gas mower. I doubt you'll see these running in 20 years but my mower is at least that old and my snow blower is going on 35 years old still runs like a champ ( I am not the original owner of either)
Do a video of that muni truck
hey. i just bought that mower and my power gauge doesnt light up at all. does anybody else notice that. or is it a defect on mine
Where did you buy yours from?
Does the 15ah flexvolt fit
I think I'll stick with my 80v Kobalt self-propelled. With the discharge shoot or bag attached, I can take 8 to 10 inches of grass.
I am sure you can with this model. I just don't have any grass that tall right now during winter. Fun fact, Kobalt 80v & 40v are made by Greenworks.
Cool mower. The deck looks like it was made by Troy Bilt. Perhaps the deck was outsourced?
Sharp eye. Stanley bought an ownership stake in MTD a few years ago. And Troy Bilt is an MTD brand. My guess is most/all of the Stanley mowers have MTD decks, including Craftsman, DeWalt, BnD, etc.
i had the 1st Gen String Trimmer 20c 13" Swath JUNK Lasted 1 1/2 Years
Dewalt Did Warranty it Only After Bitchin and Complaining
Now using a 82v Snapper String Trimmer 16" Swath
What type of pants are those?
I just picked one up. Got it all out of the box and set up. It goes backwards. What the heck?
Seems weird to add another bigger 20v only battery to their line when Dewalt has Flexvolt. Why not just include a pair of 9ah or 12ah flexvolts? I’m hoping I can get the bare tool version, as I’m almost exclusively using flexvolts for all my big batteries. I’d rather know all my batteries will continue to work for anything and everything including my 60v chainsaw, 20v lights, 60v trimmer, and the mower, etc. I don’t want to bring around 2 new batteries that won’t work with half my other outdoor tools. That’s the beauty of Flexvolt. Why would they not utilize it? Doesn’t Dewalt want it to catch on?
Seems like a great mower in any case. I’ll probably get one regardless. I may just sell the batteries if they don’t offer a bare tool version.
I think they invented this battery so they could have a cheaper high amp-hour battery. Based on the MSRP of two 9ah flexvolts, this kit is coming with $230 (or so) worth of lithium. I know that is a jacked up MSRP price, but proportionally this $400 kit has a considerable amount of money in the batteries vs the mower (and vs the chargers.)
I've used 6ah and 9ah flexvolts in the previous dewalt mower and the 3p cell configuration makes a massive difference vs a pair of 5ah. If this new 10ah battery isn't a 3p configuration then I will certainly sell the batteries that come with the mower and use a pair of 9s.
I have the 1st generation dewalt lawnmower with 2 9amp flexvolt batteries and I barely get 15-20 minutes of cutting low grass. These 10 amp are advertised for 75 minutes on non self-propelled. I need to see a battery comparison
Because they will release a 60v version for everyone with the rest of their 60v outdoor equipment so you buy it twice. Just like they released the pole saw last season in 20v and now released the combination tool with a pole saw in the 60v platform. Same reason they released 12v extreme impact wrench last year with crappy 2ah batteries then released an upgraded version supposedly rated at twice the torque with upgraded 5ah batteries with rubber boots this year. I used to love Dewalt but I’m done with it they are just cash grabbing anymore you wait and wait for them to release something every platform had and they release the cheap one first and wait a year then try to get you to buy the one you wanted to begin with all over again. Fuck Dewalt... oh almost forgot they did it with the blower too released cheap gen 1 that ate belts which isn’t a serviceable part then released the gen 2 without so much as a recall on their junk gen 1. I already started switching to Milwaukee at least when they release a non fuel tool is still pretty decent your not stuck with something sub par compared to the upgraded line.
We just bought this mower 2 days ago and after 100 sq ft /(7 minutes of mowing) it needed a recharge. I want this to work out so badly. Any thoughts?
Did you fully charge the batteries first before using it?
A tip I've heard with new batteries is that if there is any charge in them, use and drain them to zero, then fully charge.
I hope it works for you too as I am planning to go full cordless battery with all my garden equipment.
Good luck!
What city did u buy from,my local hd store has for $600 9amp kit,im also southeast
Thats the gen 1 mower. Avoid that. Like he said many ppl were disappointed with that 1
Another un-boxing video focused clearly on the chargers. He got a pair of DCB107s, which are 1.25amp chargers (or 1.5, google results vary) not 4amp chargers. Also, the artwork on the box depicts old chargers, but I was hoping it was lazy artwork.

I'd be interested to see runtime and performance on the smaller 4ah or 5ah packs
Probably not very well to be honest. 5ah would be half capacity so that cuts down the time to 30 minutes but then the factor of 18650 cell battery vs watever this has 21700 cell or larger so now you got less power and prolly drop your runtime to 20 minutes then you got specs of time is under PERFECT conditions so they can boast the highest number possible so im thinking 15 minutes or 20 at best. If you have push model def could up that time some to maybe 30 minutes at best
Going off what i remember..... i have the older push one. and 4ah will die in 5 mins (or very short time) and gets super hot! the 5ah run for about 15 (plus or minus a) min. Gets warm but not as hot as the 4ah. Again from what i remember doing when i first got the mower. now i just cut the grass and slap in some Flexvolt.
I got my 2005 toro recycler for $25. Runs like a top
DEWALT SHOULD COME OUT with 60v x60V = 120v FLEXVOLT the Beast !!!!!!!!
That's what I was waiting for. I have a gazillion flexvolt batteries but ended up with the Yard Force 120V battery mower.
@@buckyswider1 how is the 120v yardforce mower do you have a video Review ???
@@jonienglish3231 I love it. It's a beast!! I not only cut lawn, but low brush areas also, and the torque boost really kicks in. The bag is big and fills up entirely before needing to be changed. Battery life is over and hour with both batteries, but charging is fast, so if you need more time, put battery #1 on the charger when it expires and you're cutting with battery #2. Sadly, no video review!!
@@buckyswider1 thanks for Reply , 2021 make the Video Review - keep videos coming
Anyone know what model this is in the UK ?
Bummer that they didn't put in 2 electric motors, one for the blade, the other for self drive. That would have been a cooler design and removed the belt off the blade engine which I don't like.
I'm a big DeWalt fan. I got this via Amazon, but it felt cheap and went through batteries like nobody's business. I ended up returning it and going with Ego. This is a pile of garbage compared to the Ego self propelled battery mower. In fact, I've switched all of my yard working tools to Ego and use DeWalt for construction stuff only.
Was not impressed with the old one. This seems like a improvement though. Especially using it with some 10.0s or slap some 12s in there.
it works well with the flexvolt 12AH if you have. Otherwise it lacks runtime. I don't know why dewalt just won't release a double 60v already.
@@tchornomud that would probably have even worse runtimes
Is the self-propelled version worth the extra $100?
I think it is. The steel deck makes it a little heavier than say the Ryobi and the small wheels do nothing for moving things along a slightly bumpy terrain. My front lawn has a slight incline as well so we appreciate the self propelled aspect. Hope that helps.
Would the DeWalt 20V 4AH battery work with this mower?
Yes, I expect it would. But ...
Here is my opinion on power tools that require two battery packs. The two packs have to be well matched, in capacity rating and charge level, otherwise one battery will drain far faster than the other. Sort of like trying to use a D cell and AAA cell together in a two battery flashlight.
So you would need two of those batteries.
@@stevebabiak6997 makes perfect sense, thanks for the response Steve! I’ll probably run my gas Toro into the ground and then pick up the DeWalt.
Why would you ever need a headlight lol ain’t no one cutting their grass at night
You ever tried meth? I beg to differ.. I have neighbors that cut their grass at night. LOL
@@MattBangsWood when I’m on meth I cut my snow at night with a mower 🇨🇦
My neighbor does ,usually around midnight when he gets home from work, he is also drunk when he does. We called the cops but they never come.
Say the person mowing has a job, 9AM to 5PM, needs 1/2 hour to get home. If it’s October near where I am, it could be getting dark not to long after getting home. And then wants to cut grass that evening.
Not too far fetched.
Deric, I am in FL and I am mostly mowing at dusk, after work and when it's less hot. As darkness sets in the lights in this battery mowers is such a huge help. They are really nice to have, especially once you use them. The electric mowers are so quiet, you can nearly mow at any time without bothering neighbors.
8:30 As supposed to lowering it up.
Why weren’t the leaves mulched...? Next time try doing a review on grown grass.
Can this be used as just a push mower at times without the self-propelled engaged?
Yes it can.
👍🏾
Im Slowly converting everything to battery. Gas is a big pain in the ass. Especially weed whackers. Nowadays everything gas and electric comes with battery option
How to start it 2:37 2:58 3:01
I’m sorry but who cuts grass like this 😂 he’s basically running with it 😂
