Thank you so much for the tip! I spent some hours trying starting-up a raspberry zero that was always crashing either while booting-up or right after logon. Now it is running just smooth as expected!
Ill be honest, I was sceptical of this approach. However i tried my SanDisk SD card in my Raspberry 4 and I kept getting the same fault. However i follwed the steps and it worked a treat. Very impressive. Thank you!!!
Wow! This has almost driven me to insanity in the last 3.5 hours. I tried 3 different OS and the Memtest from BerryBoot and all of them resulted in some form of error or freeze. And since the same SD card and Raspbian worked fine on my 2B+ I was 98% sure I either screwed my board or it was a faulty unit. I can't thank you enough! At least take this sub as some sort of gratitude and I'll be sure to check out your other videos.
OK sir Saitama Georges, now it is me marathoning your videos :D Ok, 1st, you did the same mistake than me, don't get a PI Zero W for octoprint, bad idea, it works tho, but far from ideal. Downcloaking you CPU worked because the problem you probably have is that you decided to power it out of a phone charger (I did the same) and it isn't giving it enough amps. So it is unstable, lowering the cpu clock is a bad solution because that board is already slow as hell, get yourself a proper 2A usb plug, problems will be gone. But the real solution is to get a proper PI3, it will be night and day. The Zero W is great for IOT and stuff, but it is simply not enough for octoprint.
I have a Pi3! I just like the fact that it can be tucked away inside the case for the einsy. I do agree though, the pi zero is not ideal for octoprint. What kind of IoT do you make?
nothing too serious, more like fooling around, but you know, the typical connect Alexa (amazon echo) with your MQTT broker and control lights around the house using relays through ESP82xx stuff :)
A PI3 or an ODROID will work sufficiently--ODROID maybe not with Octopi. If using a proper 2A USB doesn't solve the problem, then it is likely the boot code was improperly written during auto-mount. You can take the SD card to a standard linux and un-mount the drives, fix any problems in your fstab and re-mount the partitions in ext3 or whatever octoprint favors.
kungFooBarString are you talking about fsck? I did try that before doing this trick in the vid. It fixed some errors but the issue remained. Also I had to manually update to the newest version because meta_checksums isn’t supported in the current
fstab is a file in the root partition at /etc/fstab that contains the mount point of the disk's partitions in any typical linux distro, you can show it with the command: cat /etc/fstab
Not working on my ELEYOM class 10 256GB micro sd I keep getting this message on my pi3. [ 1.113981] ---[ end kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2) Ive wiped my micro sd card and then re download retropie and it boots up fine then i close emulationstation, turn off the pie, turn it back on and get this message every time. Its like i need to keep my pi running at all times and never turn it off i just feel like im not supposed to keep it running all day? This is my first pi btw, just got it this week. Any help would be appreciated.
The "fix" which required so much intro is opening config.txt file, uncommenting line with arm_freq = 800, and changing the value to something higher (900/950)
i bought an all in one raspberry pi 4 with ready to use 32gb sd. its working but i want to use twister os, so i flash the sd. after that i got this error. downclock not working the config file is always again on 800... i think the sd is damaged i dont know, i read all the www tips
This still isn't working for me, I believe the issue started because I transferred the files over to a new SD card. Should I put the files back on the default SD card that came with the RaspberryPi, would that be the issue?
This is just to help people that had the same issue I did, if anyone has questions let me know.
I try to run kali linux on rp 2. Not works not even your underklock thing works
Amazing! THANK YOU!
For others, do note this can also happen due to chipset overheating!

Comments like this warm my heart man. Thanks bud
how you fix it ?
Thanks for your help! I was stuck for hours. Downclocking the RPI Zero W is the answer. Kernel panic is NOT an issue now.

Thanks I spent hours trying to figure out why I was getting kernel panic on apt update.
I had the same problem. The only solution I could find was your video. It works, thank you very much!
Hey I'm a computer noob. Can you instruct me in detail how to config this?
Thank you so much! This finally got raspbian to boot on my pi after hours of troubleshooting :D
Holy buckets this saved my ass. It was probably a bad batch of boards they sent out.
I’m glad to hear it Micah! I was stressing over this for a while, just tried something random and it worked
now only 9 hours until I get home to try it. thanks for the tip
jesse, work is literally the worst.
Let me know if it works please!
Miracleously it works, it saved a lot of money.

I am so glad to have helped and I appreciate the support man
This drove me so crazy too and I dumped money into SD cards until this Hail Mary paid off
my pi zero w with an 8gb no-name sd card and a brand new raspbian buster image always crashed when I enabled wi-fi. This fix worked for me, thanks!
Something real quick, I have a Kingston and the issue also occurs. So I don't think its a brand thing.

I had the same problem. Did you solve it?
You are the literal god. Thank you so much.
Nah man. You are the god, thanks for watching.
Ye ive this does not Work before you flash the oparating system on the sd card make sure to format it
He gets to the point around 1:40

I was just turning on my raspberry pi!

Also, I found a Kingston SD card, so I copied everything to that and it still didn't work!
This did not work for me, can anyone help
Ty
No problem, thanks for watching
I was setting up retro pie when it happened
Did this help?
