There’s a difference between a frying pan and baking pan. You don’t use baking pans on a direct flame like that. They’re too thin. You can fry your bacon in skillet then remove bacon and then cook eggs in same skillet. Eggs don’t take very long to cook.
Can’t imagine that level of wind. We drove through tornado alley in Kansas and drove through a system that produced two tornados. 50mph was the peak and we thought we were going to tip, totally stationary. We do have a high roof, massive con when you are caught off guard. Stay safe out there!
It seems astounding to me that you're worried about police and residents moving you on whilst you look for shelter. Here in Australia we also have strict rules around car camping (especially along the east coast) but I doubt you'd find a resident or officer who would move you on other than for your own safety - and most residents would probably offer you a driveway if they had one available. Especially considering how seriously we take natural disasters here. Glad you made it out safely though.
Yeah it's crazy in Florida with any sort of vehicle camping. They are so strict and try every way possible to kick you out of spots. Luckily nothing happened that night but there's been plenty of times where I got booted. Thanks for watching!
I don’t think Australia takes natural disasters more seriously than the US. I live in S FL. What you’re seeing is the fact that people in coastal FL are used to hurricanes and know how to navigate the situation very well. We know exactly when what part of the hurricane is hitting when. We know exactly what’s safe, how to safely gather supplies, where & when & how much time we have, No place on the planet deals with hurricanes more professionally and efficiently than Florida and the Gulf states. No place. Not anecdote or wishful thinking - we know this. This guy lives in FL. He knows what he’s doing. We are so adept at managing risk we have hurricane parties. It does no good to panic. I have lived through the worst hurricanes of the 20th & 21st century thus far. In this case here the hurricane is approaching, not hitting. It’s very common, in even in these conditions for people to go out to see what’s open or just have a look around. It’s not less safe than than the usual dangers on the road. Yet. 🇺🇸
Glad you faired through it well enough bro. We didn't get much more than some wind and a tiny amount of rain here in Gainesville. Compared to what you experienced and what those south of us got I'm thankful. Otherwise I think that breakfast got Lola's stamp of approval lol
I never even thought about that. I know my van is to tall to go into a normal parking garage, but If I could find one with higher ceilings, that would be perfect!
@@TaylorVanBeek I saw storm chasers do that in a documentary. The storm surge is the dangerous part, and you were parking by the boats 😨I was a bit concerned you were not on high enough ground. If you are intending to travel once your build is done, it might be worth having strategies for different disasters.
@@christinamann3640 Yeah that's why I ended up moving from where the boats were at! I stayed a little more inland the second night. The first night at the beach, the storm hadn't hit yet. Just the wind!
I'm from Jacksonville to beach are and Mayport lol don't use the baking pan on open eyes. Now you can put it in the oven and cook it that way. I'd put some foil on top to keep the grease from popping everywhere.
I did sell the F-350! The truck was too big for me to just daily drive and was horrible on fuel! Not to mention that the price of diesel sucks right now 😰 So I switched to the van! So much easier for me and the pup to camp out of! And I appreciate it brother!
@@TaylorVanBeek Yes, actually the worst it's ever been here in Orlando with flooding. Lots of high winds and over a month of rain in 12 hrs. Sucks south Florida got hit so hard My buddies house in Ft Myers was floating down the road. God bless them all affected..
I hope you got at least a couple of miles from the ocean. Before you go to sleep, because the storm surge can wash you write out into the ocean you don’t stay where you can see the ocean in a hurricane.
Pretty sure a van lifer hunkered down in the parking lot of my apartment complex for Ian. It wasn't my first thought. I was so sure it was a creeper van until I thought about it more.
I lived in Jacksonville beach should of just use walmart parking lot or hotel parking 🥴 you can always park at any plaza on beach blvd. I’m in a process of finishing up my van also!
OK first of all why would you stay in a van in a hurricane I mean really dude. Ian was a big hurricane so I don’t understand why you said you only got wind. It had 160 mile an hour winds! I wish you would’ve taken you and your dog to a hotel. You would’ve been a lot better off and please don’t ever do that again that was really nuts.
If Mav can get 2 mil subscribers so can you 😀. I predict by the end of year you will have 20k. By end of next year 400 k. Just keep it real like you are doing. 👍
Nothing like Mother Nature pitching in with some riveting content for your channel 😁 At least it’s not as much of a surprise for you as for the Vanlife channels in Nova Scotia this week. They never expected their brand would include storm chasing, but they were joking about doing so😅
Everybody get at least 2 to 3 miles away from the beach when you’re doing this kind of thing do not park under or near powerlines, high buildings or trees
17:59 "I can't go much further" You meant to say I can't go much farther. Far denotes distance as in "farther from my destination" & fur denotes and so on as in "She droned on further about herself". I know you live in migrant rich Florida at the moment. We need to preserve the English language. I'm doing this not to call you out specifically but to preserve proper English. Fascinating & great content. I enjoyed it. Oh & if salespeople can't speak English properly...I hang up. If you can't speak properly, you likely can't do other things properly & I won't invest in shoddy service. You are either right or wrong. There is no half pregnant.

That makes sense! Definitely won't make that mistake again!
Lol this is the reason why food delivery services are booming 🤣
now i know why mom is angry, thanks !
Lol I came to see did someone tell him this lol
100 % ^
PSA: Don't cook bacon in a cake pan, lol... Glad we're both safe from the storm... Great video brother...
Definitely learned my lesson there haha glad you made it through too man!
i think u where in the same spot as the take us to the nado guys cuz the parking house looked just like it and it was the same storm to

A good place to hunker down is a concrete construction multi level car park.

Thank you! And yes just 30 minutes south of me got slammed by the hurricane way worse. Tons of flooding

Yup, I've learned quite a bit now that I started cooking more haha I'm still a terrible cook though.
Should have found a parking garage on high ground
For real, that would’ve been the perfect solution instead of on the freaking beach I just don’t get these young kids nowadays
That’s a really cute dog.
I’m surviving of hurricane Katrina
Glad you got through the storm ok! Did you sell your F-350? Awesome van conversion though! Keep the videos coming!

Yeah, lets hucker down right by the ocean, so I can make a pretend UA-cam video! SURVIVING HURRICANE IAN, RIGHT!

Niceeee! Vans are the best way to travel for sure!
Ya I have faded 80 Mile power tower winds before
Yoo I'm loving the stove /oven what is it who makes it?
Camp chef!
4:47 made me laugh. I talk to my pup the same way. 😂😂

What town were you in? Oh east coast. I live on west coast just north of Cape Coral. It was horrific!!😬
I was in Jacksonville Beach!

I appreciate the kind words! Mav's my inspiration!
You had a baking dish not intended for frying, wrong cooking utensil is what you did! Cool video nonetheless!!!
I definitely learned from that one! Haha thanks for watching!
No one tell you about storm surge😢..plan ahead
Nothing like Mother Nature pitching in with some riveting content for your channel 😁 At least it’s not as much of a surprise for you as for the Vanlife channels in Nova Scotia this week. They never expected their brand would include storm chasing, but they were joking about doing so😅
Yeah Florida pretty regularly sees hurricanes!
Taylor are you trying to freak your Mom out? Stay out of the hurricane's path! Love this video though but be safe.
Bro frying bacon with a thin af baking pan 💀
Haha you live and you learn. I'll tell you, my cooking skills have definitely gotten better since this video haha
You melted the baking pan
Link to the stove
It's a Camp Chef Deluxe Portable oven!
Your so underrated😭😭😭
I'm glad you are safe!
Thank you!
You should have found a indoor garage to park up at
I thought about it but I couldn't find a parking garage that I could fit in with my rooftop fan! It's to tall by a few inches at most parking garages!
You can’t use a cake pan to cook on a stove. Use the oven.
Figured that one out pretty quick haha I'm not a very good cook at all. But I'm learning 😎
In the future get into a parking deck.
Definitely my plan moving forward!
Have you tried cooking your bacon 🥓 in the oven? Much more evenly cooked and not burnt.
I have not but that's next on the list for sure!
What kind of van do you have?
It's a GMC Savana 3500
Your bacon burned because you used a baking pan which is quite a bit thinner than a pan lol.
Yeahhh I figured that out real quick! Haha I won't make that mistake again!
Why didn’t you pop the bacon in the oven?
Because I'm illiterate when it comes to cooking haha I have since learned now!
I hope you’re staying safe in that storm, keep up the content my friend. Cheers from Cambridge Ontario
Thank you! Managed to miss the worse parts of the storm!
Very good
Thanks!

What is name of stove/oven
Camp Chef!
This is absolutely incredible.
Sorry your bacon scorched… would have been better to use the actual oven to Crisp your bacon ok that baking pan.
Is this jax beach?
A couple of the beach scenes are in Jax Beach but most of it is Merritt Island area!
@@TaylorVanBeek I’d love to find some spots on A1A.. been looking, but they’ve put up the no overnight signs where I’ve looked…
You cooked a fried item in a baking pan....Jesus.

Dog is cute
Thank you!

Hello 👋🏽
Hello 👋
It shuck my car
Why do all these van-dwelling videos feature cooking as part of it? Doesn’t seem to add anything to the presentation.
That poor dog. She is massively underweight and being neglected 😢
she is most certainly not underweight and not being neglected. She goes to the vet regularly and eats plenty of food.
Where is "home" for you exactly?
At the moment, It's in Jacksonville, FL!
set the camera down bro ... dizzy watching
