  • This video is about the "Chiquita"...which is a great shot to use for any level of the game. Players just need to understand the benefit and how it can be used.
    The Chiquita is a good way to:
    - Change the Rhythm of the Game.
    - Hit into Space (when the net players are too far back).
    - Move the Opponent forward so you have space to lob behind them.
    - Force your Opponent to hit up or hit a short ball.
    This vide shows how to actually train the CHIQUITA!! • USE the CHIQUITA!! Pad...
    Practice using this in a match to perfect it and remember the key is to using the right speed (not too hard) and only go for this when your opponents are not too close to the net or they would find it easier to attack.
    We cover all the shots, go through the learning steps and give drills for each in this course: thepadelschool.com/courses/on...
    To play better matches you need to understand the tactical principles in padel, so in this course we breakdown all the tactics: thepadelschool.com/courses/ta...
    If you enjoy learning more about padel, The Padel School blog has plenty of articles discussing various parts of the game: thepadelschool.com/blog/
    About the Coach
    "The day I started using the Chiquita it changed my game. I understood that this slow shot to the feet opened up so many options for the following shot as well as kept my opponents on their toes."
    Sandy focused his attention from tennis to padel in 2010, learning the game with several trips and courses in Spain. His education in Sports Biomechanics, combined with playing and coaching at an international level (both in tennis and now padel) puts him in a great position to share his insights in the sport, hopefully helping others learn in the process.

    Thank you for this series. I am quite new to padel (2 months) and as you I come from tennis. No other channel adds tennis examples in their tutorials as you do, and it is really helpful. The way you explain shots and situations in the padel game as to their counterparts in tennis is extremely clear.
    Keep up the excellent content.

    Great videos! quick question, do you have any videos on how to play off the back glass? as in hitting it against the back glass on your own side in order to get it over the net when you are in a tight spot. I have struggled with that for some time.

      Introducing examples in real points is already a great improvement! And if Spanish players can't speak English is our fault not yours, you can't make videos in every language!
      As a drive player (like you) I would love to see a vídeo focusing on "Bandeja a la reja" (crossed to the metallic net) and on dropshots!

    Good topic. Teams in Belgium often hit the ball harder. The chiquita is a good way to break that speed and forcing them to hit up and maybe give you a chance to attack. I often use this as a return on a hard service.

    Yes yes!
    You are on the right track!
    A lot of examples/game plays = longer videos etc. So good!
    How is your SYR racket compared to other brands/rackets.
    What models you guys have etc. Show us them. 😊

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  4 роки тому +1

      Asam glad you like the slight change to the format 😊
      The SYR rackets were made purely for us to compete. So we only have 3 models, the 2 me and my doubles partner use, then a ladies version. There are soooo many brands out there that we couldn’t compete with them internationally and so only make small quantities (therefore keeping the quality high too, which is not easy!). It’s likely there are similar rackets out there somewhere as the majority of bats are made in the same handful of factories. I’m planning on making a “choosing a racket” video, which I’ll use my brand as an example 👍

    Hi Sandy! Thanks for the tips. Nice video with lot of exemples illustrated by real in-game situations. That's great! What camera are you using, a GoPro? I'd like to record myself with friends playing. I noticed the fisheye effect (not bothering) and you're zooming one time (don't know if it's manually with the camera or with video editing software), thanks!

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Pierre, Thanks! Yes, I used a GoPro from just behind the court for the match footage. It is heavy on the data, but probably the best way to capture the whole point. I am zooming with the editing software. I could zoom in further with good quality, but still want to get a feel for the whole point...

    • @dimep.7232
      @dimep.7232 4 роки тому

      @@ThePadelSchool yes perfect like that. Are you using the wide angle? I saw it was easy to avoid the fisheye effect with the GoPro software when editing if you want sometimes. But I like with the fisheye effect also it's nice :-)

    Hi!
    My partner often wants to try to hit a chiquita on the serve return and want me to run forward. I feel I get uncomfortable with this and get stuck in transition zone. What is your suggestions to this?
    Don't play chiquita on serve return, or play a chiquita but don't rush the net afterwards, or play chiquita and rush the net?
    Thank you

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  4 роки тому +2

      godisen1 1 that’s a good question and a common play in padel. The court is not that big, so you can wait to see if it’s a good return to the feet before you “rush the net”...altho id never advise rushing the net. You can play the Chiquita on a return (if you’re good at it). Be prepared to come forward and when you see it’s good take 1/2 fast steps forward, split stepping when the volleyer contacts then move up to attack...if the return is higher (not a good Chiquita) you then have the option to stay back and build the point...does that help??

    Chiquita + lunge forward + volley is one of my favorite moves in padel. The only problem is you have to have a partner that understands what you're trying to do or he won't attack the net and you end up near the net with your partner at the back, which can cause problems.

    • @ThePadelSchool
