If you had no change when pulling the wire off the coil...that is where your problem is...either a bad coil or spark plug...or possibly no voltage to the coil. If the motor won't go past 2000 rpm.. it is in limp mode...same happened to mine... Mercury recommended replacing all coils at the same time... I replaced 6 coils, 6 wires and 6 plugs....No more issues since...and I used Chinese aftermarket coils....No issues!
@@Marinelifeboats reeds should be replaced at 1000-1200 hours. Good time to put Chris Carson reeds in plastic. I think they’re better than boyesen carbon fiber

How many hours did you get out of this motor
I bought it used with 330hrs so 6hrs later this happened
