Thank you for helping the teachers help any underprivileged kids. That’s so important to keep those kids supplied so they can continue being educated and graduate and hopefully pay it forward.
This is the time of year to stock your craft closet also!! Prices will NOT be this low again until the start of NEXT school year!! Get the poster board, paint, marker and just stock up for the refresh time too mid school year! You don't have to do that with all the kids though. Do yourself in another trip and think about stocking stuffers also for Christmas! Sticky notes, fun erasers, fancy markers and so on. All that stuff is cheap or very much available right now! Stash in your closet and pull out as needed.

I get my Bachelors in Elementary Education next May and I just want to say thank you for giving gift cards to the teachers. People have no idea that going to school to be an educator is also such a financial struggle due to spending our time having to student teach 8-3 unpaid but its all to do what we absolutely love. Teachers are the hardest working people because unlike other jobs, teachers work outside of the campus, they go home and still prep and get lessons and things prepared for their students after contract hours. This means so much Crystal! So from a very close educator to be - THANK YOU. Never lose that appreciation for teachers, I promise they appreciate more than you know!

@SandraCrossland-eh5vw Yes, 6 months until she can be adopted. She needs to live with them us to for at least 6 months. That will take us to right about Christmas time. Children who are in the "system" must have their identity protected by law. Children can come from some very dangerous situations and are under the state's care until they are adopted.

I got my daughter’s back to school supplies early this year. So glad I did before things start selling out. I also like to keep extra on hand for throughout the school year. The prices are really good right now on all the basic school supplies. ❤
I think gift cards for teachers is such a great idea. A couple of aunts, my sister and a good friend were special ed teachers and I know how much time and money they spent. The gift cards are definitely needed, because there's always a couple of students that didn't have all their supplies. I always took the printout of school supplies with me to the store so I wouldn't have to go back to the store or know what I still needed. I can't imagine how much you spent. I know how much I spent on one child.

This year I’m doing grad school and my first year of teaching. This video, especially about the gift card made me cry sooooo much. I am so excited and really, thank you for supporting the classrooms and teachers like that. It’s sooooooo needed and doesn’t happen as often as you think. Thank you for loving teachers!

Yes I was thinking the same thing! I remember when we didn’t know rylan and Liam’s names, they had a nickname! It’s so fun haha I hope we get to call her something soon🤗

A suggestion if you don't have the money for a gift card buy the teacher a couple of things off the supply list. It also helps the teachers. Good luck with school

Crazy how much stuff you need to supply. Where I live, we don’t have to send any supplies. Just indoor shoes, backpack and lunch. Our school board provides all supplies from grades k-8.
I never use self-check. They need to hire more people and get rid of self checkout machines

crazy how much stuff u need for school in USA !!! here we have everything we need at school except notebooks but in high school its easy to write notes in one notebook so seeing all this really amazes me !!
Schools are so underfunded here, they only supply the teachers and books. Teachers and students are responsible for EVERY supply and meal/snack. Education is at the bottom of priorities in the US

Slap braclet/ruler are great for holding and styling hair. My daughter used one for dance to put her hair up nicely in a bun.

For your junior high kid I would make sure he has some folders for each class to help with all his assignments and notes from each subject. Also shoes for PE if he has it.
I do not know about AZ but here in CA you can not buy gift cards in self checkout. That could have been why the register was glitching.
On another note I am not sure if Aurora gets speech therapy at school but I have noticed that a lot of the time when she talks she does not open her mouth as big to annunciate her words. I know she has an intellectual disability but she still deserves to be heard by others outside of your family. I love you guys.

Luckily for us our school district provides all the school supplies that our kids need! It is a total relief for those who don't have the money to purchase them.

When I taught school I don’t remember being given gift cards!! Parents did send extra things to give to those who couldn’t afford things!!!

I have a drawer i top up every year with basics, helps when they've lost an entire 20 pack of pens and suddenly realise on sunday night once the shops are shut

My cousin was a senior in high school when I was a freshman and it helped me a lot to have him there. He helped me find all my classes.

I know you have mentioned that some of your kiddos have IEPs. As a special education teacher I encourage you to buy some extra tissue, clorox / what ever brand wipes, and hand sanitizer and bring it to the resource room. My fellow special ed teachers and I always have to email classroom teachers asking for those things because we don't get any supplies from the beginning of the year. Just something to think about if you are able to get some more.
I started with mine this too. My kids don’t go back till September.

They were originally going to Hawaii for a family holiday but C&A had huge gut feelings against it for several reasons. Due to that they decided not to do a big family vacation but stick to smaller trips like vidcon, the inflatable water park etc

My sister was a Special Ed teacher for 38 years we spent so much money on things the kids needed she was in a low income school district so she bought a lot every year ❤
I love the sentiment of the gift cards... however, it is even more important in middle and high school-those teachers are forgotten by most parents, PTAs can be nonexistent, and many organizations only help out elementary buildings. You will notice that shopping, classroom decor is mostly for the littles, so teachers spend more trying to buy actual decor. Unfortunately, MS and HS bring in even less-- teachers ask for tissues, sanitizer, and wipes, and are lucky if 1 or 2 kids bring it in. Many kids do not even come in with a pencil-assuming the teacher will supply it (even if their mom bought it it will sit in their locker all year untouched). Have your child bring in some extra supplies or a supply gift card to their 1st teacher of the day. It will not go unnoticed. I promise!

I'm still obsessed with stationary and now it's a lot better as it's colour co-ordinated with more options. It's always good to buy extra while the items are on special, that is my excuse anyway. 😊
Crystal you did an amazing job making sure everything each child needs has it. Before I became so ill I was a teacher and foster Mum and I chose to working low socio-economic schools which gave me the opportunity to buy a lot of pre packed stationary packs for my kids whose parents couldn't afford things. My first job I was in a brand new classroom that only had 6 student tables and 36 chairs (I know 36 kids is a lot but that was the reality, a teachers desk and a whiteboard. I didn't have a chair nevermind pencils or paper to start the year off. I ended up spending over $5,000 to make resources, get material to decorate the class walls which was expected etc etc. The principle often said that the kids wouldn't amount to anything so we were made to change grades etc. I couldn't teach in a school run like that so I had to .eave after my first year. I know that every teacher would be glad and relieved to get a voucher for extra supplies. Thank you for recognizing that need, it's very kind and thoughtful of you. 😊😊

I had a backpack on wheels when I was in highschool. That way I saved my back and shoulders
Same. I actually used it during the year after Covid for the 2020-2021 school year since my high school weren’t allowed to go to our locker that often because of social distancing and we used backpacks instead. For me personally, I tried using a standard backpack but it made me walk in a weird way since it was so heavy. A teacher recommended that I get a rolling backpack instead. So, I ordered one on Amazon and used it through the school year. When the 2021-2022 school year started, we were allowed to use lockers again and I went back to using a standard backpack since I could store the heavy stuff in my locker. I still have that rolling backpack and I am using it for college since they don’t have lockers there. By the way, I am going to be a sophomore this year.
Thats crazy how school are different K-5th is elementary 6-8th is middle and 9th-12th is high school out here in colorado

Wow they need so much stuff for school. I live in Norway and my son dosent even need a pencil case for school, they have everything at school. They only need a backpack if the free one they get in first grade gets worn out.

As an employee of my local elementary school I have to say those snap bracelets that are rulers are not good, they end up being a huge distraction and a lot of kids will hit others with them

My cousin they start school next month August 9 I had cousin going to 2nd grade 5th grade 3 cousin going to 12th grade. Where I from elementary school prek-4 and middle school 5-8 grade in high 9-12 grade. It do make sense kids start school in August and get out may in june.
