Stillwater River Trail Virtual Walk Return - Virtual Walking Trails for Treadmill - Montana 4K Hike

- This 3.5 mile virtual hike from Sioux Charlie Lake to the Trailhead takes you a little over an hour but the views are stunning! Very windy but oh so beautiful. This is the return journey following the outbound leg we posted for you last week. We did this hike as a family (see Instagram channel) last week and it was my first time. I was blown away and knew I'd have to film it for you guys.
You can find the trailhead about an hour south of Columbus (see that walk here: • Virtual Park Walk in M... ) on hwy 78 then take a right on 419 after Absarokee. You will pass the Stillwater mine and it's only a couple miles further. This virtual nature hike and nature trail is the outbound leg. I also filmed the return leg with different views and another nearby trail called Woodbine Falls. I hope you enjoy this treadmill walking scenery. My legs are still tired from this treadmill video!

They call this Sioux Charlie lake trail but the map and the signs call it the Stillwater River trail.
Incredibly beautiful river trail. The narrow path at 1 hr mark is just stunning, with the river flowing on the right and the rocky track. Beautiful walk as usual H!

I love your Montana hikes, but the Stillwater River Trail is my favorite. Both ways! Especially along the river itself and through the gorge. It's so beautiful how the mountains pop up every other curve or so. Thank you!

You were very brave walking on the ice. I slipped and fell a lot as a kid, lol, so hiking boots with spikes might be the only way one would find me walking on icy trails.😄

I enjoyed the virtual walk a lot (so did my 8 year old). I broke it up into 30 minutes each time and he did 10 :) Given the huge cold front (feels like -25 is what it said yesterday) right now it was nice to have a trail to walk vicariously.

Stunning scenery, throughly enjoyed it. I don’t mind any length of walk you do. Because of walking difficulties, I usually split the longer walks over two days. I always finish the walks and often go back and do them a second time. Hope that is helpful. Best wishes from the UK. 👍

Thanks for going back the other way! I only do 20-22 mins on my Tread each day so it is great to be able to continue on the same trail. Do you think the ice fisherman is the guy that passed you on your way out? Beautiful trail and maybe one day my husband and I can walk it (post Covid time)!
I'm not sure about the fisherman. It would make sense though he was dressed a bit differently. Hope you get to walk this in person someday. It's a great and fairly easy trail. -H
The shadow looked like you were using the GoPro on a gimbal. If so, what gimbal did you use? It was super smooth footage. Very nice!
Hi and great question. It's not really a gimbal. It's a vertical-axis stabilizer from ScottyMakesStuff.com scottymakesstuff.com/collections/on-sale/products/micro-pro-2-4th-axis The stabilization on the gopro is amazing but it's hard to keep level. I find this v-stabilizer helps me keep it level and it dampens the up-down motion. -H

Love your videos. I fish a lot in Montana and have started carrying bear spray. Do you ?
I was carrying it this day for sure. It's been so warm and you never know when they might be out looking for food. I saw a lot of people on this trail the weekend before with guns, (though maybe they were afraid of other people) but bear spray is statistically far superior to guns in bear encounters. -H
