Men's Long Jump Final | World Athletics Championships Doha 2019

- Опубліковано 14 кві 2020
- While many in Doha anticipated the coronation of rising long jump star Juan Miguel Echevarria here in Doha, it was instead Tajay Gayle who beat him to the punch courtesy of a stunning Jamaican record of 8.69m - the longest wind-legal leap in the world for ten years.
Playing the perfect game of catch me if you can, Gayle established control of the competition in round one with a splendid 14cm PB of 8.46m and the 23-year-old would remain unsurpassed throughout the competition.
Olympic champion Jeff Henderson of the USA competed resolutely to take silver with a best of 8.39m. While on this occasion, Echevarria of Cuba, had to settle for bronze with 8.34m.

Wow. From 8.32 pb to 8.69 to grab the top ten all time jump. Congrats 🇯🇲!

Up top
Jamaican athletes dominate the Olympics for 2021. Love watching them.
I'm always overwhelmed with pride at Jamaicans' successes. They bring their best on game day despite the odds. Congrats to all the competitors.
@Garth Williams well said.
Always rooting for Jamaica
Jamaican genes are out of this world, the island barely has 3 million people and they consistently field the best athletes.
Mmm no
@@carlmorrow1600 : Jealous much.
Artificial selection for 400 years throughout the Americas... That’s why they do better than their cousins in Africa...
@@HueyPPLong Nigerian's actually have stronger genes. They just don't put the resources into sprinting that Jamaica does.
Sprinting and Soccer/cricket is Jamaicas main export in terms of sport.
@@HueyPPLong : Long distance running belongs to the East Africans ie kenya and Ethiopia.
Way to go wow 👏I'm so proud of all my Jamaicans athletes. God never make no mistakes when he make people like us Jamaicans all the way.
I love this Mike Powell’s reaction
What time in the video?
@@MM-bx1ei 28:34
More 🔥🔥🇯🇲 how beautiful our colors look am so proud one love 🇯🇲 .
Why they keeping saying that Jamaica didnt expect a gold medal? 👀 For the record on behalf of all jamaicans Worldwide gold medals are the only Thing WE expected 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲😂🤷🏿♀️
Penthouse or outhouse. A dat we seh🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I wish we had medals for swimming or gymnastics
Right😂🇯🇲
@@dilantl7603 We do have swimming medals.
Apart from the sprints Jamaica really never really was dominant. Jamaica had a great decade with Blake, Powell and bolt You’re wrong for expecting gold when you’re last good sport is long jump. The South Africans dominate long distance while the sprints are now dominated by USA. I believe Blake would dominate the 100/200 if he didn’t get injured
YESS TAJAYE MAKE JAMAICA PROUD A YOU MAN🇯🇲!
Is that a bird? No. Is that a plane? No, he's a man. Is he superman? No! HE'S GAYLE!
This Gayle dude has mad potential because he can jump really high, not just forward.
You guys really don't want Athletics to grow by uploading events 6 months up to several years later.
For real
Bruh I think you know why they are posting these now CORONA
@@thetworobloxcousins6583 ???
to think that that one althelte from lsu is jumping further than some of these people is insane
They sell TV broadcasting rights to different TV channels in different regions... So maybe it is part of contract.. so that the TV channels (along with their streaming apps) could generate enough profits with exclusive broadcasting rights from advertisement revenues.
That's one of the most important aspect of modern sports broadcasting.. Also one of important ways how sporting federations make money for promoting their sports.
Otherwise they also have live UA-cam streamings for some regions in some (less popular) competitions.
Tajay Gayle, l can't wait for Olympic games.
Yeah me too
But idk why but i have a feelong manyonga , gayle and echivaria wil take the medals
@@andrewadendorff3745 in 2021
Why can’t this commentator read or pronounce names?
@@dayaanjappie2700 idk
@@andrewadendorff3745 Yup. Just confused who will take which.
Female announcer slaughtering these names. The Chinese dude is called Wang, easiest name ever and she called him Yang. Shit had me dying
she butchered one of the japanese guy’s names too. “hashioka” turned into “hashikito” for some reason
Lmao!
Lmao u don't know the half of it
It's Tayjay, Teejay...lol
Congratulations 👏 to c a yard man on top respect 🤜🤛👍😁 we Jamaican need to take part in different events
Gayle seemed very raw. When Powell broke the WR he and his jump were very refined. Looking at Powell's performances from 1988-1995, impressive. If Gayle is equally dedicated he just may do it.
Gayle... so humble... great job .... proud Caribbean...
Did she say samurai 37:48 😂😂😂
She said Samaii at 38:48
lol yeah
Do you think that she gets all the names wrong on purpose?
Was wondering that too. In the last video she pronounced "Peinado" "Pedo", now this: 36:30
She called Wang Yang aswell at 19:40 nvm finished the video to realise everyone's name was pronounced wrong, she must be a substitute teacher
Mangongo and samurai... um... no.
Hashioka "Hashakito" Shiroyama "Shiromana". what the actual fuck.
She was a good athlete, and could be a great commentator, but getting names right is a basic, especially as all the guys who are co-commentating are pronouncing the names differently to you. Also “they are 4th and 5th and will stay there if nothing changes”....well I never expected that to happen.
I like this lady commentating displays no biases…..
holy shit gayle is just built different
Jamaica Run Tings!! 🇯🇲☝🏾
That not Teejay, it's Tajay u have to get this right for the future, this dude is going to break the record next Olympic
Sheril Robb it’s just that woman commentating. She said samurai and mangongo aswell as a load of other mistakes
Point to note: Manyonga and Ech had their Pb's with 1.5+ m/s wind.Gayle here had just 0.5 m/s. Wind makes a difference. Also Manyonga is 29 and close to the end of his career. Hope he can give a spectacular display at 2021 Olympics. So Gayle and Ech (23 and 21) are the future of long jump and look like they will have a long rivalry.
ya lol and its Echa-Vah-reeea too not echa-vara like she was saying too
He could have. Unfortunately, he is injured !!
This year tajay gayle had a injured knee
Even when they said it wasnt safe to do it he still did it and ended with a 7.69
19:03 that frame is perfect for a meme xd
The female commentator is getting all the names wrong.
@Beverley Hohn Chang Bruh chill, you know what he meant. She pronounced a lot of names horribly wrong, especially for athletics of this level. Deserves all the criticism.
and distances....she's bloody hopeless....and a bit thick....Gale just jumped 8:46 and she kept saying 8:42
ua-cam.com/video/uuc2mqHF0A4/v-deo.html
Wow, it's like Gayle has wings! Awesome!!
Ok guys stop with all the comments dissing the female commentator...
I can't like them all
I don't care if she mispronounce the names, I know my Jamaican Athletes and the national colours so I don't have a issue. Jamaica won the GOLD medal!!
😁
Lol like the fact that she is an accomplished millionaire athlete and your not
Bruh the commentator trolling us
😂
After watching all, I think she may be dyslexic tho :( but what a pity still
no one does it better than jamaica
Tajay gayle congrats first gold in long jump...your tremendous...book of history you will b in yay
Look at my schoolmate Tajay Gayle.. 👍 good 😊
It shows you don't need to be tall to win the long jump. congrats Gayle
You blind ? Gayle is not tall ?
Height helps. However, Pedroso has covered the biggest distance ever with a 9.30 foul and he is 174 5'9 or something like that
Gayle is 185 cm
The Jamaican man went FLYING
Thanks for uploading these events, even though some are from a few years ago some of us like watching them without knowing who the winner is. Would appreciate it even more if you don't show the winner in your video thumbnails!
ua-cam.com/video/uuc2mqHF0A4/v-deo.html
That green dude gets sprayed with sand the whole time 😂😂😂
do you reckon they could find some commentators who actually know what they're talking about? loved hearing from dan o'brien and mike powell.. couldn't find anyone for the commentary box though?
it's diabolical eh.
tom stunden unfortunately they use the same commentators for every event so they aren’t well specialized for field events
it is a disgraceful commentary for this level of athletics, they should give these athletes some respect
@@ad3111 couldn't agree more. professional track and field athletes are under appreciated and don't receive the recognition they deserve.
"Humblest calf suck the most milk", that's a popular saying in Jamaica and that describes TG. Congrats. sorry that you had injuries at the Olympics though.
Im a jamaican and i am very proud of them
To the ones that lost you guys still tried
Wow! To see the WR holder cheer the next generation on is inspiring.
32:12 Read his shirt then listen to her say his name🤣🤣🤣
Also on 36:29 mangongo
CARIBBEAN GENTLEMEN 🎩💕

Beautiful images starting at 28:34 of the other coaches and countries reacting to and cheering for Tajay’s gold medal jump. 👏👏👏

disgraceful commentary for this level of athletics, give these athletes some respect
I love Mike Powell, he's such a great sportsman, always loved him from the days of he and Lewis.
😍long jump is the best
his name is pronounced "TAH-JAY", not "TEE-JAY" lol
Tee-jay; tah-jay. It doesn’t matter. Years from now, they’ll say: oh, yeah, what’s his face?
Well okay
Gayle is like SURPRISE
I’ll be here one day..💯🚀
Jumpman Ja same, probably in the crowd though
Best of luck to you. Keep working hard. ❤
Miller we’ll both get there🙏🏾
I will mark your word 😉👊
What's your record?
YES LONG JUMP YAYYYYYYYY
Wonderful longjump
God bless you all
Was that gail devers sutting next to mike powell??
I expected more from Echevarria in this competition
We run things, things don't run we. Jamaica all the way.
Superb contest
I love sports.
ALL PARTICIPANTS IS STAMINA FULL, PRACTICE FULL, TECHNICAL FULL ,POWERFUL AND STRONG..........
BUT WINER IS WONDERFUL.........
Jamaica all the way🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🥇🥇🥇
Wi good, wi nat ragged! Chat bout, a yuh ragged!
It’s all that Yam for Gayle
27:41
Let's just admit it, we all came here to see this.
Japanese athletes impressive landing!!! Very precise!!!
In the biggest moment on the biggest stage
So sad that he got injured during the Olympic finals in Tokyo..I know he would have medalled.. Looking forward to what he is gonna do this year tho!!
Wow, long jump is fun.
31:28, at least 8.50 m? - if Jeff could land symmetrically on both feet. Great final, hopefully Tokyo will be that good!
Wow.congrats.
Her : So what are you doing rn?
Me : *I'm watching people jum........ Never mind*
In the close-ups you can see the white platform (the line) moves when they step on it... how is that up to scratch for a world championship?
bruakakaka he just said the name manyonga as mangogo at 36:30 he's now a tropical fruit lol!!
🇯🇲🇯🇲🥇🏆💯
Jamaica love from India
Gayle is another feather in the Cap of Coach Stephen Francis who Coached Asafa Powell, Shelly Ann, and Elain Thompson, Gayle is now being Coached to sprint too, so watch out!!!
Franno is the GOA-ch.
how long was Manyongo's last jump? snubbed?
Jamaica going on
Why do you ruin the suspense of these competitions by putting a photo of the winner in the video thumbnail??? A lot of us did not see it originally and/or cannot remember who won and we enjoy not knowing who won in advance so we can enjoy the suspense!
ua-cam.com/video/uuc2mqHF0A4/v-deo.html
People are worried about the future of track and field but really it's this reason as to why it's struggling, stop uploading championships and highlights years after they have happened...
These worlds didn't happen years ago, but I know exactly what you're talking about. Some fans like myself want to rewatch events from previous championships, but I have to rely on other channels. What's even more annoying is that those videos get copyrighted by World Athletics, but they still don't upload the videos and if they did it would probably only be a few seconds long. Now I understand that they did upload the full schedule for the World's, but some just want to watch a certain event and not the whole damn programme. It's also the same issue with the Olympic channel. At least now they might be noticing that fans are complaining about uploads coming out far too late after major championships. Compared to the past this seems more reasonable.
NBC don’t release these official videos till months maybe years later, this has to be a NBC or maybe BBC clip.
19:41 his name is wang
😂 lol SHE messed up all their names
Home Town boys finishing in 4th and 5th
Love south africa too
...Congrats everyone...
Three black men from three different nations. It's no coincidence we are born leaders 🙏🏾
Tajay Gayle look like a child, he didn't expect to be on the shortlist of the ten best jumpers. It was easy with two gold jump.
10:38 lol to commentator 😂😂
Juan Miguel ecaverria my favorite
The Cuban's technique reminds me of Ivan Pedroso
What the hell did she call Hashioka at 32:14
Hashikeeko😂
i genuinely think she has some sorta minor mental disorder, no offense to her.
Flugs its called dyslexia
❤❤❤❤❤❤Jamaica 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲
Congrats TJ Gayle
27:40 longest jump
28:36😲 surprised 👌👍
Thank you tajay gayle
The woman commentating is so clueless with the names
WELL DONE GAYLE
