A long shot but not sure if you guys reply to old videos, in the boot restoration one where you applied conditioning cream (3-4 years ago)... How often do you recommend to apply the this cream to a boot? Every month of wear or..?
It completely depends upon how often the boots are worn. If you’re wearing them several times a week and/or they’re in harsh conditions, you could put some conditioner on them every couple of weeks. If you’re only wearing them every now and then, you could get by with conditioning them 2-3 times a year. Just apply whenever you think they need it (by the look and feel of the leather).
What blows my mind is when UA-cam thinks I'll enjoy watching 9 minutes and 42 seconds of someone I'll never meet, repairing a pair of shoes I'll never own, in a country I'll never visit. Well they got it right, I watched the whole thing and even gave you a thumbs up
@@BillyMillion The intricacy of carefully cutting and peeling back the leather . Then stitching the sole on and gluing the leather back down so it looks like it had never been cut in the first place.
I own 6 pairs of Carmina loafers, 1 pair of AE horse bit loafers and 2 pair of Gucci 1953 horse bit loafers in brown and black. The Gucci 1953 have the best fit and comfort of them all. Worth every penny I spent.
Good to know, I don’t wear loafers but I got the 1953 in black and they are very soft. I contemplated getting carmina or even meermin but I wanted the original iconic 1953😂❤
For some reason the fit of 1953 never worked for my weird feet, but the Jordaans and Brixtons are easily my favorite shoes to wear. Can't get enough of them for the same reasons you just stated.
I own three pairs of Gucci loafers, a pair of Magnanni double monk straps, and a pair of Iron Rangers. Gucci loafers are by far the best shoes I’ve ever owned. They almost seem to have magic powers.
I watched your entire video. I agree with your assessment of the iconic Gucci Loafers. If this is your style of shoes and you like them, then purchase them and see for yourself. You made those shoes look better than new. Keep the great videos coming.
I have never owned a pair of Gucci shoes, however, I do own 9 pairs of Allen Edmonds. Several of those have been with me for over 45 years. Most have been through the re-crating process at the factory in Port Washington, WI. The highest price I ever paid for a pair was $90 for a pair of the shark skin Nassau. The re craft cost for anything today is around $120.00.
Supposedly AE sources their Italian-made shoes from the same supplier as Gucci. I have an irresponsible amount of AE shoes, and you won't find a better value
I love these shoes. I got lucky and bought them from a European retailer (when the USD was really strong relative to the GBP) and ended up getting these for ~$550. I love them. They fit well, look great, and are the only "luxury" brand shoe I'd ever shell out the cash for that isn't a bespoke shoe. Wouldn't pay $900 though.
I have 6 pairs. Love them. You did an amazing job. I have a pair that I bought when I was 22 I’m now 51. They need a bit of work but I live in the uk. Bought those puppies in Paris
I also think I have an interesting project for y’all when I get some money. They are a pair of Mahabis slippers. The uppers are leather and the lowers are rubber but the rubber bottoms are completely coming apart. Mahabis no longer makes their slippers in a leather option anymore. I would love to see what you guys could do to put a better sole on them if that is all possible. I hate to just trash them. I paid like $250-$300 for them. The uppers are fine. It is just the soles that failed on them.
I really love the care you took to add the GUCCI imprint on the soles, I know where I'm sending my Gucci loafers when the day comes for a resole. I think a lot of us who buy these know they aren't technically worth the price point (especially after all the recent price increases, these were under 700 bucks just 2 years ago), but they're really a beautiful shoe and the uppers feel incredible, probably one of the few luxury designers actually making a quality shoe these days, and the shopping experience you get in a boutique is worth a few extra bucks as well I suppose.
The other thing is, no other "knockoff" other than Carmina comes close to the silhouette and look of the shoe. Gucci horsebit loafers just look...right. Nice almond toe shape, no weird stiching on the toe box, horsebit isn't some gaudy buckle with branding. That's the extra I paid for alongside the brand; to look correct.
Excellent job. The price point is definitely high. But as we say in my native country, the silken panties want also silken behinds. But, consider this. You guys can find online bargains and since you are from the trade you can refurbish them and shape them up to your personal standards. Keep it up boys. Cheers.
Hello, Which brush brands do you, as a footwear care expert, consider most effective and reliable for achieving an exceptional shine on shoes? Are there specific features I should take into account when selecting a quality brush?"
I think I had a pair of these back in the day. Very cool seeing the process of making that blind Blake stitch. Nice result and nice shoe but I agree, I bit expensive for what you get however, definitely worth the reverb.
Excellent video. I do not have any means to be able to buy a $900 shoe, but by watching this channel and also others as well, the same or very similar quality by other brands might be had for less than 900. But hey, these men can get the materials they need to create a shoe, and the quality of craftsmanship alone can be justified if they priced it at close to $900. Keep it up. 🙂
That one sewing machine that, I think, Blake-stitched the outsoles on, is this possible to do by hand (pre-industrialization) in recrafting or only possible if you disassemble the shoe again? P.S. i have a pair of the sandals and they are great!
It would be very difficult to do by hand with the uppers completely intact like they are here, as it would be difficult to reach the inner parts of the shoe by hand. So glad you’re enjoying the sandals! We appreciate it.
The soles look thin. I don't know how walking in them would handle the irregularities of sidewalks or walking across the street. They seem more like driving moccasins to me.

Thanks so much! We always appreciate you watching. Have a great weekend!
2 Questions. 1. Where/how did you get that Gucci stamp made? and 2. What is that open tupperware tub of black liquid next to the dyes?
Haha…the tub of liquid is just water that we use for rinsing out the brushes. We get our stamps from a business in Hong Kong called LW Leathers.
