Gucci Horsebit Loafers Refurbishment | From Boring Soles to Graffiti Soles
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лют 2020
- In this video, we give this pair of Gucci horsebit loafers a makeover. A customer mailed these in to us and wanted to get rid of the bland and boring half soles and instead add the JR Graffiti leather soles and heels. After adding on the new soles and then polishing these shoes with some Saphir Renovateur and Pommadier cream, these shoes definitely experienced a makeover...for the better!

I don't own expensive shoes, I don't want expensive shoes, but there is something so deeply satisfying about watching shoe repair. Keep up the good work!
KayDubs77 Thank you so much for watching!
Thirsty
I think the point is if you know what to look for, you can get quality shoes second hand if that's what you can afford.
CrimFerret exactly, Ive found incredible deals just on poshmark
My Thoughts Exactly!
I am working as a security officer at the airport, since I started watching you videos, i am looking at all passenger's shoes and I am talking about thousands every day!
That's so funny. I agree wholeheartedly. I find myself looking at how people's shoes are constructed now. With work boots, I look at the welt material, etc... I'm far more educated and appreciative of expensive shoes & boots now.
This is actually therapeutic. I meditate watching these on my breaks in between studying. Helps to lower the stress, and is much better than watching cartoons.
Armand Chevalier haha thank you very much for watching!
even cartoons of shoes being re-soled...
I love watching your videos in bed at night. They make me so peaceful and relaxed!
there is something so satisfying in seeing people take pride and have integrity in their work.
ROTTEN thank you so much!
The shoes came out looking great. Never seen a graffiti sole till now. I have been watching your videos for a good while the strength of your hands have to be crazy strong. I’m in my late 40’s and I don’t have the strength as a young guy. Thanks for sharing this video.
I like it best when you talk your way through the repair, explaining as you go. You probably feel it's repetitive, but your commentary, as you work, is very enjoyable. Thanks.
You are amazing, I’m 77 never went to a shoe repair shop, I did the repairs myself, never owned shoes over $50.Love to watch your work
Lucille Goudreau Thank you very much! Wow, that’s impressive!
Lucille...I have utilized shoe repair shops in the past, mostly because I didn't understand the workings of shoes. After watching these videos...and knowing what I already know about fine garment construction and tailoring...I believe with the right tools, I could do some basic repairs...and perhaps even create my own shoes (or copy one of my favorite pair).
I can't wrap my head around the fact that I can not stop watching your videos. You guys kick ass and thank you for keeping well crafted shoes in service and not just cast in to a landfill!
Night and day result, which shows you the difference between a hack and a master. Great work as always! Side note: How does anyone give this a thumbs down? I swear, some people just want to watch the world burn.
Ha ha. Thank you. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Crocs owners
kripssy hey!! 😂😂 I own 3 pairs of crocs (makin a comeback, baby!) and I wouldn’t give this a thumbs down.
I love watching your videos! I also liked your response to these being perfectly good soles (it’s what the customer wanted), “it is what it is.”😂
mybrkly 😁 Thank you!!
I would have asked for them to be changed too. They looked roughly done.
This is just fascinating. Watching you guys work always brings to mind wonderful memories of my grandfather who taught me the fundamentals of how to dress. My compliments to you both!
Great video once more. Would love to see a tour of your store and workshop.
Thomas Thank you!! We will definitely be doing a video on that soon.
@@TrentonHeath Yes, seconding the shop tour! I'd love to see you include information about some of the machines; how old they are, what they do specifically that sort of thing. Give us a bit of a history lesson too!
I really enjoy watching your videos. You have a very pleasing voice, and your explanation of the work is great. Thank you!
Thanks
I may have just found the best channel on this site. Love the work. Greetings from Wisconsin.
GREAT work guys...could watch these all day
Thank you very much! We really appreciate you watching.
It's so satisfying watching such great craftsmanship! Much love from Louisiana!
Q Bigs thank you very much!
Very nice Heath, lovely turnaround and transformation of an otherwise pretty boring pair of loafers 👍
“It is what it is”, great answer as I was wondering the same. The finished product looked like it was worth the change in aesthetics. Great job!
Gary Burg thank you!
Just like the rest of your videos, I am impressed with the attention to detail you gents give to every pair of shoes you work on. Also, I like the graffiti soles!
Tammy H thank you so much!
Wow! I just looked and you guys are at 102k subscribers. Good for you. I will say I subscribed when you were still at four figures so congratulations on rapid growth!
Thank you so much!! We really appreciate you subscribing to our channel back in its earlier days! 🙏🏻
holy crap this is awesome i just finished watching the gucci restoration at bedos leatherwork channel and you upload this!
Neil Fraser Hope you enjoyed! We appreciate you watching.
Watching your videos is my new addiction. So satisfying and now I can assess shoes better. Thanks, boys
Bonnie McQueen Haha...thank you, Bonnie! We really appreciate you watching.
Find a husband
Already did
I am really digging the aesthetic and FUNCTIONAL modifications The Owner chose and You executed; tastefully done!
Enjoyed it, guys! I'm helping to restore a 1940's photo darkroom. In the old days they would dry photos face-down on a polished plate. The reason? More lustre to a glossy print...craftsmanship. (Which is about the only thing in common with shoes!) I love to watch you two and the passion & skill you show for your craft. Apparently a lot of people feel the same! 👍
Michael Fuller thank you so much for your kind words!
Seen all of your videos and this time, you seem more comfortable: Your preamble was a bit snappier. Love it!
Another great video. I love watching a craftsman at work.
Give us some more process! Man, I love your videos, seriously love to see how you do this work. I've commented before about how one of my other favorite channels does in-depth videos about their process. This particular video seemed rushed. I'm willing to bet your subscribers want to see what you do, and how you do it. I bet most folks don't really care about the end product, they want to se the process. We want to see why you guys are good at what you do! And you are good, I can see that. More process!!!
Justin Summersell we do try to mix it up some.
Ever since I found your channel I have become determined to be a cobbler! I would love to do this. Your channels great guys keep up the great work.
So many times throughout your videos I'm actually saying, "don't slip, don't slip" ( with whichever sharp tool you're using)...lol
Thanks for another fun and informative video.
J. AULT Haha...we appreciate you caring. The good thing is that if we slip and cut ourselves, which very rarely happens, we’ll edit that part out. 😉. Glad you enjoyed!
Yesterday I scored 3 pair of Allen Edmonds...1 cordovan leeds, 2 Polo Saddle, 3 waltons...for $5 each.$15.00
Woohoo, all my size 11. Very great shape too.
@@TrentonHeath I'm looking up where to send you my Leeds for some JR and new cork so they'll mold to my foot.. glad that I found you guys.
J. AULT Appreciate it! We can definitely help you with that. www.potterandsons.com
@@j.a.4360 Damn! that's a major win.
You guys are amazing! When my shoes need work, I’ll be sending them to you.
John Auer thank you very much. We take great pride in our craftsmanship.
You guys are the epitome of skilled craftsmen. Love the vids guys
I want to echo Kay Dubs comment. Watching you guys take shoes apart and rebuilding them is so satisfying to watch.
Thank you very much, Ken! We appreciate you watching.
Damn, I love this channel. What you guys do is very cool. I wish I had the ability / skill to work on shoes. I wish I could do this myself. It's neat watching you guys turning something old and used into something completely different, new and beautiful.
love watching these shoe repairs vids like these
We appreciate you watching!
Beautiful work Heath them shoes look amazing
Good video. Thanks! Would be great to see some other repairs in addition to sole and heel replacement.
I had no appreciation for expensive shoes because I thought all shoes were made in China and cheap, regardless of the price marked on them. I'm learning to appreciate craftsmanship that I didn't understand until now. Thanks!
Wow, this video was published on my birthday. It's very satisying to watch you repair shoes.
awesome work !! it’s like artwork!
This is very interesting. I like your videos very much, my favourite parts ate when you do the uppers.
Thank you very much! We really appreciate you watching.
Finallly😭 been waiting weeks for this.
Yay, a new video! You know, I skidded out on a scooter as it started to drizzle, and I was thinking of you right away when I got up and saw what it did to my left beige suede shoe. 😆
Suede's the devil when water gets involved. Let's get those shoes treated. 😀
Cringe af
Awesome labor of love. I will start to love my expensive shoes a lot more.
Great job! Love the videos❤️
Giovanni Amabile thank you very much for watching!
Very cool indeed love the JR graffiti woah incredible %100 much better 👏 you both are amazing..
Love your videos! I work with leather everyday (wallets, belts, sheaths, ect,) but that shoe leather must be a whole other beast. The force you have to use when you're grooving and bevelling edges looks insane!
Vasco Canaday when dealing with JR soles, it is difficult to cut. VERY tough leather!
Thanks for another interesting video. Never knew how many different ways the soles are done for so many different shoes. There are no cobblers around my neck of the woods. Now I know when or if I buy a really expensive pair I know where to send them for repair! Love watchin you guys. Fan from OHIO
Kuge We really appreciate you watching! Definitely...if you ever need a resole, we’re happy to help.
I have to admit shoes is the best attire be in. It is a work of art
I've subscribed with notifications. Really good job on those Gucci's!!!
Thanks
That was cool! Those JR’s are definitely different, but an awesome twist!
Joshua Steele thank you
I could watch Heath do his craft all day! I'm a definite fan.
BTW...I bought some Bates Oxfords for a US Navy Living History Crew outfit. Every step, the right shoe "clicked"! I got the new shoes resoled in leather as a fix...and to be period-correct. Fortunately, they weren't too pricey to begin with.
Michael Fuller awesome!
You sir are a true craftsman!
I don’t know how you came up on my notifications but I actually enjoyed this, great job!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
Great clip. Whether it be a longer clip or a mid-length one like this or 2 minute quickies, I love them all. Just love seeing craftsmen restoring things giving them a new lease of life. Restoring a bit my faith in humanity...
SCD Observer Thank you very much! As always, we very much appreciate you watching and giving us your thoughts!
Amazing! I love this kind of shorter videos :)
Thank you for sharing Abril 🥴
Another example of craftsmanship thanks guys 🍀👍🏻
Thank you, Ricky! Glad you enjoyed it.
I want a pair of those in brown so bad. Great work
Me too, Craig!! 👍🏻
Love those soles, and an excellent job restoring those classic shoes.
Thank you
I was watching another video of your this morning at like 6am. I know I couldn’t sleep. By like 6:30 I was like makes me want to shine my shoes. The only shoes I have to shine are my military dress shoes. So by 7am I was shining my shoes. Lol. Not something I would have done that early but your videos kind of motivated me. Thanks for that. Learning a lot.
If you want them to look blacker than black, use Saphir black shoe creme, and then use Saphir Pate de Luxe wax in Navy Blue. It's amazing!! I use this technique to polish my black calfskin Tecovas, and not a day goes by without someone remarking that they've never seen boots as black as mine! I learned this from Preston Soto, at the Elegant Oxford, on utube.
Awesome video guys. Maybe one day I will find me a nice pair of low top boots and send them to you for a make over. Stay well & safe this year.
"i'm fixin' to put the soles own these sheeyoos..." (paraphrased) Love it!
I love it! He "sounds like home" and totally normal to me!!!
Great video when are you going to do a review on to boot New York shoes ?
There's one in the video list somewhere on here.
I used to wear shoes every day to work before this coronavirus shutdown. I thought Cole Haans were good shoes. Until i started watching your channel a few months ago. Now I have list of shoes i want to buy. Cant wait to wear a suit and shoes again.
Beautiful work! 6:36 marvelous closed finish!
Listening was like sound effects to a Jordan Peele movie. Yes I just watched the Candyman trailer. Lol
It's fascinating watching a craft in action when you sit at a desk most of the day like I do.
Try the kitchen
Jack Black excuse me 🤔
Ohhh! May need to get my Gucci brixton loafers refurbished with those soles. Well done!
CZA Thank you! We could help you with that. 😉
"Your going to learn about the shoes and your going to learn all the steps" I saw what you did there bahaha... Good one🤙🏽
Shoe me, shoe me...Shoe!!! Song from Billy Squire {Stroke}. Lyrics to follow.
Nice job as usual.
Great video guys. At the end of the video can you please show more of the finished product? Especially the bottoms, some of that detail work you do is so cool and we don’t really get to see it. Thanks love your videos
Oooooo... Goochigoogoo. Looks fabulous.
I know I am getting into the video when as you are mashing the stitches, I tilt my head and feel my arm stiffen like I am doing the work! 😂😂😂 Who knew cobbling was a video game?!
I've seen videos where I've found myself doing the same thing.
W0W. Care, love and amazing workmanship.
I own expensive shoes, I want expensive shoes. There is something very satisfying, yes, about watching brilliant craftsmen create. Brilliant!
Great content as always! Would've liked to hear a bit of a review along the way, but still quite an enjoyable video.
Erik Watkins We’ll have another Gucci loafer review coming very soon.
Will be in CHS in a few weeks, found out they have an AE outlet from your Trunk Sale video, stoked to check it out. 8 minute walk from my hotel.
👍🏻
When love and skill comes together expect a masterpiece...job well done!!
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous! Gucci’s will never go out of style, they are Classic, especially with the Horsey set. Being in the East, you will probably catch lots of business there.
I really liked watching you repair those Gucci loafers, it was fascinating. I have never owned a pair of Gucci shoes. I do own some well made dress shoes and I treat them well. I am 73 years old and I don't wear them that much now that I am retired. I have a couple pair of Mezlans, a couple pair of Florsheims and one pair of Allen Edmonds and they will probably last me for the rest of my life.
It’s still a young man’s game - the brute STRENGTH require to run that groove/channel around the sole before stitching. Yeow - this is certainly another “don’t slip” moment. Can you tell us if you get the therapeutic benefit same as your viewers. Why the hell i can’t stop watching puzzles me :-) WHY do I care about shoe repair all of a sudden?! THANKS to you and your “upper specialist” brother. GREAT NEW CHANNEL. I especially liked the new camera angle in this one when you wet the old soles before removing them.
Musiciens Montréal thank you very much and thank you very much for watching!
love your channel. while watching your videos keep noticing new scars on your fingers and wondering about
safety precautions. is there any way to prevent injuries?
Beautiful job...you guys rock and handsome too!!!
Those JR soles are very cool.
Great work. I know it has nothing to do with shoes, but your souther accent... 🧡 i guess it’s the Texas girl in me that finds it very appealing.
solid craftsmanship. i want some high quality shoes so i can enjoy the prestige after a resole
Likey, like very much😁. As I ment shoes for a living too. I wish my shop was as big as you're
If anybody feels like bitching about the cost of quality resoling, watch this video. Hard work.
Shirtless Lager 👍 thank you!
Great and informative video as always 👍. Hey, hope you guys and your families are ok after the tornadoes hit your part of the US. Looks pretty bad from what I've seen on the news over here. Stay safe. ATB from sunny Malaysia 😎
Razif Mahathir Thank you sir! Yes, we’re all okay. Thank you for asking. A lot of damage was done in our city, but it occurred just north of us. Wishing you all the best in Malaysia!
The stitch density for the Blake sole lol 🤣
How fun!
Love your videos. It would be helpful if you gave us an approximate value of the shoes you are rescuing. I google it but many are hard to find since they are older.
Hi Trenton & Heath. Would you in future do a video about Baudoin & Lange loafers if can be restored, or would be great if you have one on hand about to restored if any chance. Cheers.
I dont live in USA, but i am 100% sure when my Prada, Crockett and Jones or my Mecariello shoes need sole replacement i am going to send them to you!!! Any cobbler in my Country have this level of Quality of products and skills !!
ShoeShine Mex thank you so much. We frequently receive shoes from customers in Hong Kong, Germany, England, etc.
Years ago I took a pair of my English riding boots to a place by Bell Rd. and Nolensville Rd (always a mistake right there). Somehow one of the tacks in the heel came up through the shoe and I felt it every time I walked in the boots. Since I normally rode in them, not walked in them, I didn't take it back to be fixed. In the end I finally bought another pair of boots.
StGermain thanks unfortunate!
Still would really enjoy a tour of the workshop area and background on your tools. Another great video, thanks!
sailingmaster it’s coming. We should be in our new digs by the end of May! 👍
Those soles and heels were hideous! Shoddy craftsmanship! I’m so glad you fixed them!
Amanda McMillan thank you very much!
I have a pair of clarks that are my favorite but I am sure that they're not able to be resoled. Willing to give them up for a good vid though.
Hey there! I was wondering if you know anything about replacing crepe sole, and what that process is like. I've had a pair of Clarks Wallabees since 2015, and the sole is wearing thin. I really wanna keep 'em so let me know! Thanks y'all!
