  • A day that would live on in Price is Right infamy - May 14, 1985 (#5732D). Fortunately, the $1,000 won in the first Showcase Showdown saved the day.

      Which was not said until after the Mark Goodson card, CBS Television City taping credit, TPIR title and copyright scrolled up; usually, that was said before those things were shown (by Olson, Roddy and Fields, and all the subs).

    One of the 5 el skunkos in the 51 years of TPIR on CBS. Sure, there have been 0 pricing games won and then someone won on Showcase. But May 14, 1985 was the first one of 0 pricing games won (Most Expensive, On The Nose, Cliff Hangers, One Right Price, Money Game, Grand Game) and the double Showcase overbid on the same episode. A not-so-great episode in TPIR history.

      Yeah, but that’s not really an “El Skunko” in my opinion. Sure, $22,000 on Plinko isn’t the maximum of $50,000, so we can’t count it as a “win”, but I also don’t see winning $22,000 as a “loss” either.

    Did she win $1000 in On the Nose?

  • @carexpertandy
    @carexpertandy 9 місяців тому

    Since I see 4 darts on the board, the contestant who played On The Nose presumably won the $1,000 bonus? Cliffhangers, it looks like the contestant must have won the first 2 small prizes. Money Game, it’s impossible to win nothing, and she got $153 out of it. Grand Game had $100 won. So not like this show was a complete washout! Anyone know if there were any perfect bids or $1.00 spinners on this episode?

    • @carexpertandy

      Maybe the first dart was just Bob’s inspiration throw actually.

      From other comments, there was a contestant who got the dollar on the big wheel. But the cliffhanger items don't really count as something won. At least, I've never seen Bob say that they'd won one of the items when playing Cliffhangers.

    • @carexpertandy
      @carexpertandy 2 місяці тому

      @@evknucklehead Though they’re not very significant, contestants do win each small prize on Cliffhangers if Yodely Guy stops moving with the difference of the contestants guess without falling off of the mountain. I seem to remember on one show, Bob told the contestant they would win the large prize and the 3 small prizes if Yodely Guy didn’t fall off.
