The arm length is a throwback to the moto style on which many jackets are molded. The extra length on a genuine motorcycle jacket is meant to cover your wrists with your arms outstretched (as when gripping bike handlebars) so they will meet gloves without showing skin.

The only leather jacket colors that should be worn are black, brown, and if you are Brad Pitt, dark red. But seriously, they can make literally anyone look badass. I had a friend who was short, chubby and unconfident, but when he sported his black jacket at nights, he looked awesome. I like it when the sleeves drop to the knuckles when your arms are down.
***** I haven't seen that yet. But, here's the thing, they should in some way represent you. There are jackets, and there are jackets. The one he is wearing in the video is simple and badass. It can be worn by anyone and give them a great effect. And then there are others, that are more demanding of the person wearing them to pull them off.

The reasoning behind the long sleeve is because the design is made for motorcycle riders to reach in front of the paddles with their arms. Without the slave cutting too short. Now you can compensate that with a leather gloves, but the whole cut is made for the motorcycle riders. Now you can try to extend your arms and then see how longest leave will fit you that's one way to test it which is basically the best way if you're looking to buy a leather jacket.
If you are going for a traditional Italian/French/English leather blouson racing jacket/leathers, the sleeves are cut longer than the beginning on the thumb to accommodate for reaching the handlebars leant over, to save the back panel being restricted/torn. Short sleeves and back lengths normally incorporate leather "puckering" where stretch is allowed. I ride in Belstaff, I highly rate them, they've been going for a near century.

If you're wondering about sleeve length, think about the posture you're in when you're leaning forward on your motorcycle. If the sleeves weren't long you'd be unprotected.

I own a leather jacket, it's dark brown cowhide from Glasgow. My grandfather wore it when he was in his 20s and it's still in perfect condition so yea, buy one. Good quality leather jackets will outlive you.
Leather jacket sleeves are longer because this ensures that a smaller area of your arms/wrists is bare when you're hunched forward and reaching outward to grab bike handlebars. Especially with cold winds hitting you at 60mph.
I lucked out big time, my leather coat came out to $440 (including tax) before it went on sale. The sale price was marked at half off ($200 + tax), though reasonable something told me to wait a little longer. I went to the store once a week and every time I went the price dropped an additional %10. When I finally copped it, it was 90% off. I paid $128 (including tax). It's a Genuine Lamb Skin, Roundtree & Yorke.
$128 is a fair price for a lambskin jacket. $440 should buy a full grain cowhide armoured racing jacket meeting all the safety standards.
Shop prices are often crazy. A friend of ours saw a pair of leather jeans priced at £950 at a London fashion shop. The company that she worked for manufactured the jeans and the shop was paying £65 for them.

It´s probably because, many people who wearing bomber jackets are neonazi... I have black bomber jacket and sometimes other poeple mistake me with some neonazi, or similar scum, but i get use to it.

+Joseph Murphy It all depends on the accouterments on the jacket a brown leather bomber looks like a roguish fighter pilot but a black one looks a little sinister also there is nothing I would trade for my original brown b2 bomber
+Luckybuck61599 just from a fit stand point I think the bomber is less suited for many shapes and sizes because of the extra bulk while the double rider is more trim and contours to most shapes. in my opinion the bomber looks great but I more prefer to see them on skinnier lengthy guys then bigger short guys because of the extra bulk.

I fully understand you when it comes to shortening sleeves at the wrist. Personally I like my clothing to be as fitted to me as possible. The motorcycle jacket, moto jacket, whatever you want to call it happens to be my favorite jacket. I agree with you that you don't need to have a bike to wear the jacket. I like them because they look cool as hell.

i think the sleeves are generally made longer on leather jackets so when your arms are stretched to reach the handlebars on your motorcycle they are still covered to the wrist

I LOVE THE LONG ARMS! Its for reaching the handlebars on your motorcycle and not having the sleeves ride up, meant to be held out. You can always make shorter but not longer. I also do have long arms :).

Leather motorcycle (and motorcycle style) jackets have longer sleeves because your arms are forward when riding. The longer arms are necessary to cover your wrists in this position.
I have a thing for quilted leather jackets, bought my first one half a year ago, a black lamb leather quilted bomber jacked by calvin klein, i absolutely love it and wear it pretty much every day. Only problem is, it got me really into leather jackets, so now i want to get a red one as well, found a great one by D&G; 1850£ tho...

The sleeves are long mainly because the distance from the handle bars on the motorcycle are quite far from the body causing you to stretch your arms out. It's for a bit of extra protection and keeps the arms looking nice for style points

Long sleeves on motorcycle jackets are functional. When you reach forward for the handlebars, the sleeves pull back but still cover your wrists. Proper fit with your arms down at your side lets the sleeve fall to about half-way between your wrist and knuckles.

Hey Alpha, about the sizing down, I usually wear a size XS and when I tried a size XXS the jacket looked really good, it was very fitted but it was slightly tight, no discomfort or anything but my question is, will the jacket stretch out so it'll feel more flexible in the arms? I'm thinking of getting a cow hide biker jacket.
