  • John Calvin explains James 2:24 and James' description that we're not justified by faith only and how this is consistent with Paul and his own view.
Does James REALLY contradict the Protestant view? James 2:14 clearly proves that James is addressing a CLAIM and BOAST of faith; and in the following verses that we're not saved through a dead, empty profession of faith.
James quotes from Genesis 15:6 in James 2:23 where Abraham was already righteous by faith many years before he offered Isaac (James 2:21). The offering FULFILLS and PROVES his righteousness by faith alone. We are imputed as righteous by faith but declared righteous by works. Works proves a genuine faith.

Apologetics is my passion for the glory of Christ. And I would love to co-labor with you in the gospel and the truth, as we contend earnestly for the faith (Jude 1:3, Heb. 6:9-10, Gal. 6:6, 1Tim. 5:17-18, 3 John 1:8).
"But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." (Hebrews 6:9-10, KJV)
