What an absolute clusterfuck these things were. They were so close and yet si far.... I bet they were pissed when it took a frenchman to crack the code!
Saw this loco mentioned in a book in the 1960s and wondered about them. I'm amazed that RR in the USA didn't adopt the Garratt loco which has advantage in terms of simplicity and large boiler capacity.
Considering where ATSF ran those things, everything out there was converting to oil by the 1920's anyway. They ran west out of Wellington before that like line was a transcon. The Belen cutoff didn't come along till about 1929 or so.
I did! I replied to it as well. I let you know that your video request would be posting today. In fact it's loading now. I had to do some research regarding the topic as I hadn't looked at the subject in years.
could you do a video of unbuilt lner steam locomotive like The LNER 4-8-2 "Mountain" type LNER Class UA1 2-6-4-4 Mallet locomotive LNER Class T2 4-8-0 "Twelve-wheeler LNER Class P10 2-8-2 Tank Engine and lner 4 8 4 northern
If these units were successful, they could be nicknamed the "Betty Boops"! Does anyone else remember the old Betty Boop cartoons featuring steam trains?!

Truly a Frankenstein of the rails...
"Frankenstein" = several "Franks" and just one "Stein"....
Would this be several Franks led by a Stein, or those Franks drinking from a single Stein?!
