Great video, thank you for posting! I myself had a tough time foraging in the Wasatch Mountains of Central Utah, check out my video and let me know what you think? Hank vs Wild - Joe's Valley Part 2
the minnow-trap is very easy to make and it works every time, yet i'm amazed how many people never heard about it... so, good job spreading the knowledge!
Great video. Alan use this same trap on the TV series Alone. I wish you would have shown the tips from the vine ( I did not understand the name), so I could have seen what they look like attached. I am just now learning FL edibles. Take Care/Stay Safe - Stan
+Deep South Experience Thanks Stan! There is a fantastic resource for learning Florida edibles at eattheweeds.com. (Standard "You can get seriously killed" legal disclaimer)
+Hidden Florida Nice video -- simple, practical. * I echo DSE's comments. What was the name of that vine? * The standard admonition when fishing and hunting is that, no matter how primitive you want to be, the need to remove the entrails is mandatory and universal. What's your take on that and "Minnow Con Entrails" soup? ;-)
onesimpleidea Thanks! The vine is known as smilax, this type is bullbriar. www.eattheweeds.com/smilax-a-brier-and-that%E2%80%99s-no-bull/ The general rule (not official) on minnows is if they are less than 2 inches, it is okay to eat them whole. Kinda like shrimp with a little "dark line" still going on.
Minnows spook easily but they come right back to investigate anything new in their territory, especially if sediment has been disturbed (it throws food bits up). That's why fish nibble at your toes sometimes when you walk in a creek.

I think you could probably use any local insects, grubs, or fruits for bait also...Whatever normally falls into the water. Thank you
Thanks - I did, and you are right! A dropper bottle each of sesame oil and soy sauce goes out on the trail now also.
thanks. Next I will see if we can eat the snail eggs! I believe the snails themselves might make a tasty escargot.
Wow
Glad to see there's videos tailored for Florida. Great use of the exotic species! Compliments from Lake Worth.
