Brilliant ost, seeing Pino saving Re-I while this song was playing on the background never fails to give me goosebumps despite rewatching that part several times.
This track...it played at that perfect moment when the world was crumbling, and a new one was born. This and "fellow citizens" alone make me wanna rewatch the series.
The only thing I hate about this anime is that it ended. D: The music? Fucking amazing. The characters? Awesome. The artwork? Pure scenery porn. The story? Enthralling. How it's presented? Absolutely beautifully. The world created through these mediums is just so incredible that it seems almost tragic that it's just a short-lived fantasy.
@@ScarGus I thought that was the episode that explained a big part of the plot. It was werid because it was all a setting of another proxy... I think thats why conductor says one of them both has to die...
You're right. The same happened to me when I rewatched it after a couple of years. I noticed many nuances I overlooked before. This story has many levels and facets and they are impossible to notice when watching the show only once. It's just that overwhelming.
It takes some rewatching of the full series to really understand the ending. I think every time i watch the series again i figure something else out. Great stories are this way. They require the audience to think for themselves and learn to understand the characters and their motives.
"This is the world that stands before us. The world we call our 'Reality'. But with Re-L, and Pino, and the other survivors with me, I know I can face this world." "A world that is finally ready to heal itself." "For the first time in thousands of years, mankind returns to meet its Earth, and now the true struggle must begin." "I am Ergo Proxy, _agent of _*_death_*."
Loved the ending. It inspires the end of the old world and the beginning of a new one. But while the humans who left for the Orbit would want to forget how the divide happened and how they destroyed the planet, the humans in the domes will teach them their past and how to form a fully functional society without the destruction of their world.
It's "Proxy of Death" they just gave it a little flair in the dub but it doesn't make much sense as Agent, though similar to Proxy, is not quite the same. Ergo Proxy is the Proxy of Death, not the Agent of Death.
nah, this is no suicide song. More of like a "I'm moving on and stronger than ever"-type of song. Anyway, this song fit the ending of series very well.
The title here; "Centzon Totochtin", comes from Aztec mythology, and means "four Hundred Rabbits". They're a group of gods who regularly meet for parties and get roaringly drunk. SPOILER Given that only three hundred proxies existed, would the extra hundred from this title have some meaning? Something to do with the ark, perhaps? Or maybe there's a hundred of those colonies of cave dwellers. Dang, I'd kill for a second season or movie sequel. SPOILER

Funny how i've never watched this anime (i do watch animes) but i've been listening to this song for more than 7 years now, maybe it's time to start on it
Shinobistrider, this track sounds in "Ergo Proxy", wonderful cyberpunk/gothic story. Its clean that DeX & ErgoProxy are very similar with their atmospheric and emotional conditions.
@QwertyTSecond Yeah i've wondering too... I just think of a mistake from them though. That was kind of funny because i never noticed the name of the boat (which is Centzontotochin) and i listened to the OST and was like "my god this song is awesome, what is it called? Centzontotochtin ? sounds nahuatl, let me check in Gary Jennings' Azteca novel that i just finished reading. Oh god, it really is nahuatl" Double awesomeness for Ergo Proxy to take little known mythologies as reference *_*
there's this hacking game called Uplink, I always turn this song on when playing that game lol. I dont know why but it just suits the high-tech cyberpunk feel so perfectly! :D
the ending was ok, what would fit better than this ending? with him being the savior of the old world, so the human race that came back to the healing world start a new life? Just perfect.
xWolFang I don't especially agree with that. Humanity destroyed earth and then simply fled. They created the proxies so they would have to pay the consequencies in humanity's stead. Humanity didn't suffer any consequencies for their act. I wouldn't want an ending where they come back and everything is solved already. I want Vincent to maje them pay for what they did
I didn't like Ergo Proxy but the soundtracks were plain awesome. This one is so epic! I need to rewatch and think again and maybe give it more than 2.5 stars
The final line is some of the greatest. Being memorable does not hurt either.

MrChronoLex Don't forget Vincent- Ergo Proxy looking off in the distance like a badass.
Just finished the show and am on this video specifically because of how much I love that part lol

Best ending song ever
It's 2023 and I'm still listening to this. Gotta rank as one of the most epic soundtrack songs and up there with Radwimps's work for Your Name
We need to rebuild Ergo Proxy fanbase!

nope, i disagree, the ending was the best, the anime needs to stay untouched, remakes always fail (mostly)
