1972 H2 Kawasaki Triple "A Show Bike is Born"

- We restored the 1974 Z1 900 "Project Green" for our customer Phil. Once this was completed, he asked us to find an H2 750 Triple like the one he rode cross country as a young man. We literally dug one out of our warehouse that we think fits the bill.
Enjoy and have a very, Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe 2019.
I had one of these before I got my 750/5. If you happen to own one of these H2's, I recommend strongly, very strongly, you do not ever let a friend or potential buyer take it out for a spin. These bikes require a certain specific method of operation, particularly over 80 MPH. Coasting should be avoided at all cost. Be on the throttle or on the brakes. Repeat... DO NOT COAST.
fabulous, I never had one but away's wanted to own this bike, its not for speeding on but just the magic that this bike had in the day, yes give it a blast but its owning something like this that's the reward, nice job.
Fantastic restoration. Love it. Happy Christmas from Newcastle upon Tyne UK😎
👍🏾 I just got my 1981 kz650 running again... I love these bikes
Enjoy it!
In 1972 I was 16 years old and not legally allowed to ride a motorbike (you need to be 18 over here) so I rode my Yamaha FS1 moped. But there was a guy in our small village who owned an H2 just like this one. How I envied him!! Later on I got involved in triples but not the Kawasaki's. The British BSA / Triumph push rod threes instead. Still love the H2 though - what a gem. In the early seventies it was something from outer space - and it probably still is.
I wanted to hear it run! & that was a nice “ninja” in the background, was it a 900?
Me too. 😃😃😃😃😃
As always, another high quality restoration! Wow that’s beautiful!
Very nice but you should not have polished the outer fins
Andy Pandy i think it gives a nice touch.
I agree but people did that as the end ones were the only ones they could polish.
Great people...
They had rear& front turn signal stems & my exact key # for my 72-H2👍...shipped to Canada in 2 days
I am totally lusting after this bike! Talk about having fun riding it but also appreciating its beauty.
You do some nice work. I really wanted to hear it run though. My first street bike was a Yamaha RD-250 and I liked the Ring ding sound.
What a transformation! Love watching your videos even though I'm a Honda guy! Question: Did Kawasaki powdercoat the frame, side stand etc originally or were they painted? I'm guessing they were painted, but you are powdercoating because it is a more robust finish. Thx!
What an awesome job sir.!!! It brings back great memories, and a beautiful piece of history.!
Happy Christmas from the U.K. to all at Johnny’s
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
The amazing personal attention to each and every part and the process of ongoing video updates is the most thorough and reliably expert mechanical and restorative arts & service I have ever seen!
Stunning bike ,absolutely beautiful 👍👍👍👍
Gobsmacked...such awesomeness. Your whole approach and philosophy - love it. Cudos, respect to the customer who commissioned this too.
Amazing! Another rocket back on the road... well done! You guys are awesome!
Another great restoration! The H2 are my main passion. Awesome to see you get another one back on the road!
Super Nice! I ran into one of these on the road one day after I had upgraded myself from the '71 H1 to the green '76 KZ 900. He wanted to race but I chickened out, not wanting to get beat by that scary two stroke. I was a relatively new rider and did not think I could outrace him and I did not want to lose status by having that H2 beat my 'fastest bike on the street'. Maybe next time... Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year, Johnny!
Wow Johhny! Excellent job. Nice editing work with the video too. I love to see a bike running knowing I rebuilt the crank. I love doing these things! You inspire me to get my old gal restored.
This is one of your cranks
Nice, nice, nice very nice. Lovely job sir! Enjoy your vids very much. Always great work. Wish id bought S1C over GT250 seansons greets from Bristol UK.
I love it when a plan comes together! A buddy used to race a blue '72 H2 in the AFM (numberplate #818) and did really well with it. His tip was to keep the arms and upper body relaxed, and just let 'er squirm. Tighten up and things went south quickly. He rode that bike to a seventh place in the 1978 AMA superbike event at Sears Point.
Right in my back yard, I've landed my balloon in his yard. I,m working on my 73 s2 probably have to visit his shop to get some things taken care of. Great people!
Talk about attention to detail. Holy crap. Real nice work.
One has recently been listed here in Australia for $32000
I love that there are guys rebuilding and restoring these bikes. When I drive around the area I live, I see the buildings that were once motorcycle dealerships. Some had 30 plus bikes in the show room at that time. A few of the buildings remain but none even have business of any kind.
They didn’t look that good brand new. I know. I used to put them together. Excellent restore! Especially to have original pipes!
Huge credit to your employees, this bike looks better than new. Australian fan.
What a Time Machine Beauty!
Amazing work, thanks for the video!
Goodness, I am speechless at the quality that your shop puts out. ps. nice choice of music there at the ending
Thanks Zrkn1. You're a loyal watcher. We appreciate it.
mint restoration u guys certainly know what its all about....remembering these bikes in early eightys in austraila they where .... wheel standing powerband freaks.....great in a straight line..they would eat the cb honda sevenfifthy four witch was meant to be a superbike???? what a joke????.but very slow compared to fuel injected bikes of today.....have ridern them all over the last 38 years...went back to a slower paced more cruising machine that i own these day 2009 dyna superglide harley
AMAZING WORK! What a beauty!
I had a 1972 750 man that thing was quick
This is what you call the work of artisans
The owner is a very lucky man BEAUTIFUL
Excellent work. Do you have any parts like 75 H2 fuel tank. And appreciate and other advice where I can get parts or who did that amazing seat? I’m redoing a purple 75 H2 💜💜
I agree with you....GORGEOUS
I used to have H2b, had to drive across London to Wandsworth daily (20 miles, bike did 11mpg! Aaagh! )Used to do 100mph across London Bridge at 6.30 am!
Memories abound.... I bought a new 1971 H1 in January of 71, and then the H2 came out in 72. I wanted one really bad, but could never come up with the 500.00 difference....GREAT WORK....Sure glad you didn't let us down by not starting it I was getting worried....Loved the Drive away......Thanks.
How did you get new pipes?
Who did the blue painting and the Kawasaki stickers etc?
Was it re-bored to fit oversize pistons?
We bought the pipes from japan a long time ago as well as we sent the body parts to Japan to be painted
@@Johnnysvintage - thanks for your reply.
That is a beautiful and immaculate job.
He said redo it oh my God that's a miracle unbelievable Talent here
Better than new! Nice video too. Thanks for posting!
Ten seconds of engine sound after 19mins of talking..................that was disappointing. The restoration was obviously superb. Well done.
That is stunning you know your onions
Hi - Love the video - would it be OK to use it on my Classic2Strokes Facebook page please (obviously will credit/link to you) - many thanks!
Awesome job man....just Awesome...
Your name sounds Italian...
Wonderful detail! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Love this! Proper genuine restoration 👌
The people in charge of the EPA need to loosen up a bit. We need to start making calls and e-mails to those in charge. Let's bring these bikes back. It's what the people want and deserve.
Need some help , I have a 1972 H1B orange . I think it’s missing CDI parts and I’m thinking about putting a new engine in , has the black pickup’s . Can I sent. Photos so you can explain what I need to do. PS I’m a make it stock guy. I’m only missing head light ears and foot break lever.
Have a kwacking Xmas Johnny , keep up the good work 🎅🏻🏍🔧🙅🏼♂️
Better Than New,gorgeous job
What a beautiful machine. Bravo!
AWESOME!! I miss my triples.😰😰😎😎😎😎😎
This one knocks my socks off.
Beautiful bike! But, one question: How come no Right Mirror on the completed bike? (I apologize in advance if that questions is stupid.)
Two exhaust pipes on the right side; one pipe on the left side! This is really cool!
Wow, stunning, great work of one of the most cutest bikes of the 1970s.
beautiful work
Really lovely work on this fanstatic old bike :):):)
Wow, what a lovely machine, you did it proud
OOOOOHHHHHHH YES HOW MUCH CASH WILL YOU SELL IT FOR
What a blast from the past for me! Love it! You guys are magicians.............
VERY nice job on that H2
What a superb restoration. Is the power band as vicious as the bike's reputation would have us believe?
Also, have you had much involvement with the KZ1300, and if so, what is your opinion of the bike, please?
amazing !!! Mr. John , if you'd tell me that's a new show room bike from 1972 that was brought here in a time machine - i'd believe you !!! :-)
A beautiful motorbike, brilliant work.
UNA MARAVILLA.
What's that solution you spray on to de oxidise please , you used on On of the bikes you prepared, thanks
We use S100 motorcycle cleaner: ua-cam.com/video/4ENfTZS-POg/v-deo.html
More 2 stroke restoration for the people!!!!! Beautiful job!
Original Takasago rims were date specific...very crucial to keep with the bike.
Very nice!
I understand you wanted to make it as original as possible but adding a second disc brake on front wheel would have been nice.
Superb job man..............
Very Nice! Love the blue paint. Great looking Machine.
Better than new!
Extremely Nice Work... Johnny 💥💥💥💥💥
Sweet bike. I remember those.
WOW !
Great great job, mind if I ask where you got the repro silencers ?
Happy Christmas from Germany to all at Johnnys 🎄. The Bike Looks so Amazing 👍.
Merry Christmas, Wood Carver. Thanks for watching!
If you ever decide to get an H2, get the '72...after all the mags called it a widow maker in their tests Kawi got a little gun shy and rejetted (leaned out) the '73 and '74 and also made the swing arm longer...they were still badass scooters but the '72 was a special beast (a former two class AMA Expert License holder in 125cc Motocross and 250cc Road Race who bought an almost new '72 H2 in my Sr. year in H.S. in 1975).
@DominoYeah I have ridden both in that period, I had a buddy who had an H1...it was a fun bike and was peaky but I used to eat his lunch on my H2...we both ended up having expansion chambers and I went further with 32mm Mikunis and my Motocross racing engine man (My Dad the Engineer out at Cape Canaveral) gave me a modest port job...I ran a 11:74 at the drags when I was a Sr. in H.S. with her. The 72 H2 was a really fun scooter.
Probably the most boring Kwacker video I have ever seen. My collection is stacked with triples. I did not get any passion or sense of the the H2 this machine was - is a phoneme and you missed it .
I am sorry you did not like the video. It was mainly intended for our customer. We need to attend classes for video when the bike business slows down
That's a Beautiful Restoration!! The Blue makes it all come together!!
Candy tone blue= pearl white, flare silver, candy blue
Skirts on those pistons are shit, far too long and not as original, gasses don't flow as in the original.
Bar clamps aren't gloss. Satin :) H.L is dented on top. Oh you're going to love me. Don Fulsang IS my benchmark. 2 rubbers under oil tank metal strap.
is there any cold canadian beer in there
Phenomenal!
thanks again for sharing with us old guys.
Nice work... 👍
nice shop----you know your stuff---------
Very clean and nice job I am a 73 purple and orange guy just saying
Awesome job, you guys are amazing.
Looks great! Great job!
Loved that Johnny, I owned mach3 and a h1.thats how I would build them when I was young a and had patience.
I would even weld on and mould the welding on the frames.
I still love triples and regret selling them as we do.
You said body work done in Japan, did I hear that right,
Love your work
Utterly beautiful
why no sreering damper their was one on bike before restore ?
Good point. We never thought to put one on. It came with two; one on the side and one on the top. It still has one going through the steering stem.
Did the 72 model have the steering damper? My memory probably fails me here, I thought they added those in 73 or something.
@@davidsargee8526 I'm not 100 percent if it was an option or not.
@@Johnnysvintage I think they were added on to later models, maybe '73 on up. The '72 was the most "exhilarating" to ride, they toned the later models down in various ways. I think the dampers were one of the things they did to improve handling.
I'm relying on memory though,
