    Man, Out on the tiles is such an underrated Zeppelin tune.
    Out of all the top 10 best Zeppelin riffs or whatever videos, somehow this and The Rover as well don't make it, while this is one of the coolest stuff they have imo.
    Thanks for the video man, much appreciated!

      You’re welcome, I agree. That’s why I wanted to shed some light on it. Maybe IV casts a little bit of a shadow on some of the earlier tunes as it hade HUGE tracks on there.

    Just found sped. I know I’m a slow learner. Sped is awesome entertaining and knowledgeable. He’s helped me learn how to play Jimmy better than anyone else. And take my guitar playing to the next level after about a decade long plateau. I hope you’re still shredding Sped!

      @@SpedSpedding For as long as I have loved Zeppelin it seems that every riff Page has written always has something unexpected or unique that makes my jaw drop. A perfect example is your lesson on When the Levee Breaks and that FACFAC tuning that allows you to play that power chord on the top two strings where you just wouldn't expect it. When I saw you play that I literally sat there thinking how in the hell did Page ever envision in his brain. Genius.

    I class myself as a music fan rather than a musician even though I've owned a few guitars over the years. (l wouldn'tknow a minor 5th from a diminished 7th if it kicked me in the head!), Anyhow, Zeppelin was my first love, so really enjoying your clear, concise lessons and can't resist playing along on my battered old Ovation acoustic. • @achopage1

    Very cool lesson, just two minor things I noticed. I'm pretty certain the second note of the main riff is an A, rather than an A#. Then on the descent down, even though it does sound more intuitive the way that you teach it with the half step (B-A-B-A-B-C-B-A), Jimmy Page actually plays B-A-B-A-B-C#-B-A. Even more so than in the original recording this is very clearly audible at the 1977 Bonzo Solo/Out on the Tiles live. Cheers!

    Are you sure that riff has an A# sharp in it? making it Major sounds odd to me? I have always played this song with F# to an A keeping it in the pentatonic formation. I do put a bit of bend on the notes to blur the lines. but I think the riff Always stays in pentatonic. What is everyone else hearing? ( Thumbs up if you hear it in all pentatonic.)

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I am, I actually started learning it with the Open A and was like "why does this feel slightly off?" I realised he's using a F# major arpeggio just like his verse riff in Good Times Bad Times. The riff feels cheeky as opposed to dark so makes sense that he's major over minor.

    • @ohmzen9695
      @ohmzen9695 7 місяців тому +1

      @@SpedSpedding Hmm... I agree open A does NOT quite sound right......However... Now try the riff with a 5th fret A (not open A) with a slight bend in it.. I think Jimmy is bending the 5th fret (A) which blurs the Major and Pentatonic lines. everything else you play is spot on! Great video thx
