    I've had one of those Sony NPA-MQZ1K multi chargers for years, I wish Sony would update it and throw in some USB Type C ports.

    Great video man! That charger/ dummy battery thing is sick. I have been peeping it for awhile but never pulled the trigger on it. I ended up just going with six Sony batteries 😅 and a Sony charger. I haven’t bought third-party batteries since I had a lot of bad experiences especially with my a7iii when I had it. I picked up the FX3 when it was released and ever since then I decided I’m only buying Sony brand batteries and the third-party ones just aren’t worth the risk and they definitely don’t last as long and I had a few die on me or just kind of break apart at the seams where they glue them or press them together. I still have all my Sony Z100 batteries even my original ones from when I switched over to Sony 5/6 years ago.
    The biggest downside to the third-party batteries other than they typically use cheap cells is the fact that if your camera dies during a take/when you’re filming, it won’t save the clip before the camera turns off. The camera just shuts off without saving first. It has definitely screwed me at a few weddings, and def not worth using third-party batteries ever again 😢
    Great video 👊🏽

      Oh wow you are right. Thank you. I was trying to ride the fact I'm in an unfinished space and did not realize it. Thanks for watching. I'm going to try to do an update video now that I've been using this battery system for a few more months.

      @@MauriceMercado I actually really like the space as far as the shot is concerned. Even though it's in focus, it's not too distracting. I only told you about the flag because I assumed that since you have it up there, you probably care. Keep up the great work man.

    I very much appreciate your sharing this video. I seriously doubt I will be purchasing this expensive gear (I shoot photography only, but knowing that I have battery for long periods of shoots is a must and this device looks as if it might fit that bill. However-too costly at this point. I do NOT trust any other 3rd party "dummy batteries" as of yet. I know Neewer and others made one, but I must have lots of long lasting power on my HIP! I tried a 2,000 mAh 600 watt power bank and another smaller one for cellphone charging and much to my amazement, it did NOT give me more/longer playing life-nope! When plugging it into the USB-C port on my A7IV, it was tryin to actually charge it, but that port is for "let it sit and fully charge" mode as if when you are done for the day and a few HOURS later it's recharged...in my case over 6 hours to fully charge battery in camera. So now, thanks to your video, my "lightbulb" just went off. That USB-C slot will NOT recharge my battery while it is being used; it only works when nothing is drawing "juice" from it and so, I must find another portable fix. I guess it's a "dummy" battery from Sony, but hopefully the connections will be useful in another charging unit and my problem will be solved at a much less expensive expense. We shall see!

      I am fortunate that I was able to buy this battery unit thru my job because it is very over priced. I'm planning on making a follow up video about this unit soon so stay tuned. I have some thoughts on it after using it for almost a year.

    The biggest downside is how large it is. Having a smaller setup, that you can easily put in your bag or be more discrete with is very valuable. Just having a second battery somewhere in your bag does a similar job

      You can try any one of these... amzn.to/3IqHptl , amzn.to/3I4CE7y , amzn.to/3IpZmYV or I think you can just leave your battery in the camera and use the USB-C cable the camera came with and power it on while its charging. Don't know how that would work for an long recording but worth a try.

I use camera for live streaming things so I'm very concern about how long It's can turn on (I use NP-F battery plate from smallrig to power my camera for a while) Thank you and sorry for my poor English

      Bro, overheating is a problem with that solution. in the solution mentioned in the video we have a dummy battery inside the cam and heating happens outside for battery. Camera can still get warm but not from battery. This is for video though as the camera stops functioning altogether. For pics this is not an issue

  • @cinemasebas
    @cinemasebas Рік тому +1

    what sucks though is :
    1. You need the 4 batteries for it to last as long as possible
    2. If you switch it to DC mode with NO batteries in it it doesn't work as a dummy output... so useless, I have it and barely use it because of it, rather get a V mount instead, I honestly was expecting this to be a DC outlet dummy battery.

    • @MauriceMercado
      @MauriceMercado  Рік тому +2

      I agree, I went with this unit because my job paid for the extra batteries. Otherwise its a huge investment. However if you keep a battery in the camera and run the USB-C cable to power I believe you can run the camera off DC that way. Not sure how it will do with over heating in that scenario but I will do some testing and make a followup video. Thanks for watching.
