The nice thing about the A7 IV and I imagine the rest of the Alpha line, is that you can plug a smart USB powerbank into the USB-C connector and it charges a normal internal battery faster than you can drain it shooting video. So... this means that instead of a dummy battery to a D-tap or whatever, where you risk having the camera shut down if the connection goes south or a cable gets yanked, you can relax that your internal battery will be good for hours while you plug the smart power bank back in to the USB-C in the event it gets pulled out.
I just received my A7 lV to replace my A7R 3 and was searching out accessories and clicked on your site. You have some great suggestions so I'm going to hit Amazon and make a few purchases today. It's nice to see Canadians with great UA-cam channels. Thanks for the recommendations
Omg the eyecup is definitely my best bang for buck all time favorite accessoire for any camera. Awesome you touched on them in the beginning of the vid 👌
Man that battery thing looks crazy. My favorite accessory is the Ellie PD L Bracket... It is effectively an L bracket that can clip into the peak design capture clip. The other thing that I love is my Tripod head which is a Flexshooter mini.... It works well as a gimbal head, but then also effectively will work as a levelling base for normal work.
Omg I was trying to figure out a solution for that. I want to get an L bracket, but I refuse to give up my capture clip because I despise neck straps. Genuinely thought I was gonna have to make my own solution. Cheers.
These videos are really, really good Chris. Found this one from the Anton Bauer video (massively useful product). Many thanks for taking the time to make these, much appreciated.
So with the external battery, the housing door on the camera doesn’t close all the way? There isn’t a slot on like the 7iii where you can run a wire through?
Excellent video Chris! My a7 IV arrived today, so I'll be getting a couple of the items you suggested, though probably not the body cap. And while some people may think those memory cards are expensive, compared to what I used to pay for CF cards when I first started shooting digital, they are very inexpensive!!! And they are absolutely the best. Cheers, Doc
I can't agree enough on the screen protector, I have an OG a7 I still use (very) occasionally (seriously, it's more of a museum piece at this point,) and the screen got all funky over the years from not using a screen protector. Not even scratched... just... funky. I want to get those eye cups for my a7RIII and a7RIV but I'm kinda worried about which one to get the RIV. It says it's the same one as for the RIII will work for the RIV but that camera is the same generation as the a1/a7SIII/a7IV so I would think that would be the eye cup to go for, no? Guess I can the one for my RIII and try it on the RIV to see if it fits and order accordingly.
screen protectors are so cheap too, no reason NOT to get one. As for the eye cup im not sure, never had a R series Sony, with amazon you can at least return it if it doesn't fit.
I will NEVER SUBSCRIBE, and here is why: It's NOT because your content is not good; it's FREAKING AWESOME, man, and I truly LOVE IT ❤. But the reason I won't subscribe-and probably why others don't as well-is because this video is an answer to a question that I had, and that I will NEVER have again, especially as someone who's only doing this for work. I DON'T like photography, and I never will. I'm a naturally shy person, so I never feel comfortable near one. But I've got bills to pay, so I'm just doing whatever I need to do to get paid and go home xD. Well, there you have it. I hope this comment clears that up a bit 😅
Hi mate I’ve got an a7siii and a Fuji XT4 which I bought because I wanted to get an a74 for snaps but couldn’t get one. Should I trade them both for two a74’s as I’m t*rd at filming and the a7siii is overkill. Feel like the a74 might be more donkey-friendly! Cheers Rashid
@@chrisbrockhurst yeah gut says 2 a74’s. But I’ll keep the a7siii for a while to make sure! We do Instagram lives and photos at tournaments. The a74 from your reviews looks so capable. And it’s new and shiny and I can’t resist new stuff!
Hey Chris, I wanted to ask you an off topic question: Did you notice a difference in heat development between the A7IV and the SIII? Does the A7IV get hot faster (7k oversampling, 33mp)? I figured I‘d ask you since you have shot with both cameras!
@@chrisbrockhurst Thanks for getting back to me! I just made my purchasing decision based on your overheating test and comment! Really appreciate all the content! Keep it up!
I take a "medium" size glove yet I find the grip on the IV MUCH less comfortable then my old "small" Sony A7RII and I get an inferiour hold/grip on it as well. The IV only has a bigger grip because it has a bigger battery and two card slots, not because "bigger is better". That's just some marketing bullshit as MILCs were initially marketed as being significantly smaller than a DSLR, now they are getting bloated, the same marketers are telling us that a "bigger grip" is better. For you maybe, but not in my experience. My wife OTOH, has small hands, and in her case the smaller older grip is objectively better in every way. Sony did NOT enlarge the grip to make it better. They made it bigger because they had to. That and size alone is not the end all of grip design, the grip on my Nikon 700 is almost exactly as large as the grip on my A7IV, yet due to its refined shape, I find that that grip feels much better than the grip on the IV.
My Peak Design clips frayed, then broke, I almost dropped my camera into a lake. And that was the 'new' thicker one. Why use a product that you constantly have to check for damage? Do not buy that crap.

Yep is a pretty nice update!
My a7ii couldn’t do that without a dummy

Every review / recommended of yours I watch I spend more money! Great videos! Subscribed!!
I love you dude - but man, my Amex isn’t happy every time you drop a vid! You’re always finding the sickest accessories!
Sorry Sam!! (not sorry)

Chris, awesome session! Used your links for a few successories. Cheers Mate!
Amazing Content! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
Hello what are those red circles you just take off 😅 great video
Saw that tripod in your gram story and was very intrigued
They hold a crazy amount of weight and look nice too, win win 👌🏻

Excellent equipment u have cris 🍻
Great vid mate - reminded me to get on and get a screen protector for my A7IV 😬🙌🏻
I'm one of those people that have watched but haven't subbed, simply because I forgot to. Righted that wrong today 😁. Keep em coming, Chris!
Boom! Thanks Patrick
Funny video. 😂 Very helpful. Thanks! 🤘
I feel like I’m about to spend money. 😂
put your credit card away!!
i said the same thing when i clicked on the video hahaa
Busted out laughing
heyy quick question: Would SanDisk sd cards be good for this camera?
My wallet is already hurting, but if you’re going to get a beautiful piece of technology, it deserves to have equally pretty friends.

this is true! card prices are way better than they used to be and get cheaper by the year
Thank you for the fantastic recommendation. Which quick release clamp do you use on the mini tripod?
Sony caps can be used to set white balance
Ok ok i subbed, liked, and now I comment cause you're cool. So yeah, you're cool. Cheerios ;)
😋
Hey Chris, what brand is extended the eyecup?
The one I use is by kiwifotos but tbh there’s a ton all the same
hi from Guadeloupe 😎 great vidéo i have A7RIV and i will use your set too
sdcard : i love prograde and i use 2 Sdcard on my alpha seven R four 😉
Thanks!
Hit the subscribe button kids. Chris is killing it.
appreciate you!
All good. The battery however isn’t for me. I like to keep things as light as possible.
I wish the L-Bracket had a spot for an airtag
The L Bracket link you left for BNH show only two reviews, both giving 1 star ..
yeh i saw that too, did you read them? Don't really agree with either of them
@@chrisbrockhurst If you say it’s good to go .. I’ll pick it up ! All your recommendations never let me down !
I saw the same. but after this video and 1 other. it seems like a good accessory. and it's like $50. I figured its worth a try.
What’s the clear thing you put on your lens to protect it from dirt, scratches while you’re shooting?
UV filter
Hello Chris. Which screen protector did u use . It it wiser to get the Sony one for 30
any well reviewed one for the a7iv will work fine.
Can you use this with a tripod? Say I need to add this on for the ceremony B cam, is there a thread at the bottom to throw on a quick release plate?
yep! most L brackets and cage if not all do.
@@chrisbrockhurst oh I meant on the bottom of the titan base. Sorry I wasn’t specific haha. Just saw there’s 3 spots to mount.

Why does one need an L-Bracket if the camera already has a tripod mount?
just got the mke 600, do you convert the mono back to stereo in post?
Anytime I’m using mono I convert to stereo or dual mono yeh

theres a ton that are all almost identical. Go with the best reviewed if this link is OOS

It can't handle long form with recording to 2 cards at the same time
Flipping open the screen helps with heat dissipation.
"ASMR for ya" hahahah
I deliberately waited to the end of the video, just to hear the good night story telling of the tripod.
Eyecup, screen protector, hand strap, smallrig l bracket ---> Add To Cart
Enjoy!
Any over heating issues ...
keep the screen open and youll be ok
No need for the caps really… your camera already came with a perfectly good one. No need to give a brand free advertising
How about showing the things in detail that you talk about

Too much black. Black background, black table, black t-shirt, black camera, black accessories. Can't see any details of the products.

“SOS flash mode” on a lightbar?? That’s the most useless thing I’ve ever heard.
