I work construction and that green Benchmade Bugout has been my everyday work knife for the last 4 years. It is much lighter than you might expect. I don't feel it at all when it's clipped on my front pocket. It's big enough to work with and small enough to not get in the way when I'm climbing around the job while wearing it. It's still as tight as the day I bought it, it hasn't loosened up at all. It holds an edge well, just don't cut mineral wool with it! Construction workers will know what I'm talking about. If I lost it, and by some miracle I haven't, I'd buy another Bugout.

Allen is still my favorite, but after watching all the old content, I gotta say, Dean is perfecting his on screen presence, and he's doing well.
    Love the content.

Love, love, love mine. It’s been through hell and back and still works perfectly. Haven’t found any EDC task it’s inadequate for yet. The 1.9 oz weight is amazing for how tough it is. My belt and pockets already support a subcompact 9mm, spare mag, flashlight, wallet, keys, phone, OC spray, and dog treats. Last thing I need is a bulky knife to add to the pull of gravity. I think the name Bugout refers to its feather weight, rather than any expectation of it being a survival knife. It’s just a marketing thing, so don’t read too much into it.

Excellent review! Will say though...I baton with my Bugout all the time and have yet to have an issue. That said, I'm only using it on 1-2" thick pieces of wood to make kindling, yet it gets the job done and has yet to loosen up after a year.

Great review! I hope this becomes a regular series like Allen’s reviews of firearms. Like his reviews, this was pretty helpful from a practical standpoint and very informative in terms of technical specs. Looking forward to more of these reviews in the future.

But I've watched someone Baton with this knife and was successful with it. And then he ran it over with a truck and then dropped it off. At 2 story building and the knife was still intact and perfectly working order. There has to be something to say about that.

The full size bugouts with the grivory are going for $170~, would you still consider it a good value?

I have this knife, got it as a gift, its nice and light but honestly I prefer my $3 ozark trail knife

Man are we living the same life? I was given a bug out after doing some work for someone. I always carry two knives and my second is usually a ozark trail and I’m always using that instead because I’d rather risk damaging a cheap knife, not to mention ozark trails are great

BUGOUT IS an odd name as no one in their right mind would rely on this life in a SHTF situation. Plus, pocket-knives are "last resort....no other choice" tiems. For those suddenly situations you thought would never happen to you or anyone...and you need a cutting tool and this is all you got. "Better to have than need it and not have" item. :) For that reaon the Bugout works...as would the Bailout...

Over priced, the titanium locking pin is a screw up. Benchmade is aware of that grinding grit but still produces them. I should know I have one. But. I will buy no more from them!

Great knife for every day light use or back up option but that’s about it!

I beg to differ. I use it hard in machine shops all day and it’s never let me down. It’s not gonna skin a moose, but 99% of the things you do everyday it’ll knock out of the park.

I always have to laugh and smh when people feel like it’s cool to constantly handle the knife by the blade.

Zero reason to carry a folder if you’re carrying a fixed blade roughly the same size.
