Yeah, just knowing how to take the cover of the engine off is awesome! I agree that there is no irritating music, just the sound of the engine. All in all a good video!
Nice video. Thanks for posting. No filler or music just the basics on how to get the job done. Nice work n thanks.
Why don't you state the model of the Mercedes-Benz
If I'm not mistaken this looks like the w203 platform more commonly found in the classes between 1999-2005
The c-classes specifically
Where was that dipstick cause I didn’t see pulling it out
Thank you for helping me figure out how to get the engine cover off and find the opening. I just checked and there is no cover where the dipstick goes! It's got black fuzzy stuff around and inside. Could that cause problems?
whats the other pipe for beside it? i put trans fix in that one and idk if i put it in the wrong place?
thank you! your video is very professional.
Make a video and show us how to fill it
My wife's GL450 doesn't have a dipstick in that location. Can't find it anywhere.
Thanks, helped me out considering the last time I topped off the transmission I put it in the oil instead. Car ran fine though. I still changed the oil about four months later.
Yooo this comment jus saved me a new car ✍🏿💯🙏🏿
did you bottom out the dip stick? how long did you stick it in?
Just one question
I found out after I purchased a mercedes with 7G tronic and 134k miles/216k km that the oil in gearbox was changed only once at 47k miles. Gearbox it's working fine but should i be worried because of that? Thank you
Not really worried, but maybe just change it. Dynamic oil change would be best of course, instead of just draining and refilling.
That engine sounds like a diesel, but I know it isn't. Maybe it needs an Italian tune up? Mine is sure quiet, compared to that one.
Mine doesn't have that cap there. That must be the 5 speed. I have the 7 speed.
Should I fill it if mine is half way or just get a transmission fluid change? 145k miles in. I believe if the fluid is not dirty some new one can be added but not sure if it's recommended to change it all at once with new filter and gaskets
I went to measure my transmission fluid in this location on video but plastic tip of dipstick broke down in the transmission tube... it didnt go all the way down cause of the bend in the transmission tube.... how would you go about fishing that plastic piece out? Thank you.
This is funny looking at it now ...added transmission fluid in the engine oil one 😂👏 .
no, the engine oil has a seperate opening and a colored cap. Don't put engine oil down the transmission dip stick hole.
me too😂
Yep I only added like 8 quarts
I have a 2005 CLK 320 and my fluid is an amber color. Is yours amber or red? Pentosin ATF 1 is amber and is supposed to be compatable.
I have one too did you ever figure it out?
@@phatleggz6371 I was at the dealership this morning for a lower RF cross strut and the parts man said it is red synthetic transmission fluid. Spec# 236.14.
I can't find it You're supposed to check it in park or neutral?
What’s that sound of the car! Because mines making the same rattling noise when I start it
What year/model Benz is this??.. i thought you can only add trans fluid from underneath
Straight to the point great ... Thanks a Million...
Please how I get this stick gage, right now I'm in Nigeria
Mines a 2006 ML500. I don’t see that entry plug and my dip stick is in the front
Thanks for the video.
How do you fill it?
I still cannot find the location of my dipstick for my transmission fluid on my 2001 E320....
There isn’t one, it uses the same exact gearbox, and locked fill cap. You’ll have to buy one separate as shown in the video
@@mnbakken93 where can i buy this measuring stick? 2001 c320. And do i have to check with the engine running???
Can I check my 2004 E320 like this?
Wheres the long dipstick located?
Is the chrysler xfire similar?
It has no dipstick i can see.
Is it the same dipstick location in c280 2006 model?thanks
what transmission fluid are you going to use? Which one do you recommend? is that 722.6 transmission you have?
For this stuff I only go Factory oil 4 Mercedes
How can I top up the auto transmission oil? Pour in the same place ?
Yes, with a funnel.
Where do I get a dip stick is it universal or Mercedes Benz specific
where did the dipstick come from??
I had to get mine from Amazon. Most MBs have a "sealed" transmission. Meaning we (as drivers) shouldn't have to change the transmission fluid. I think mine is low because of shifting at high speeds and reversing. I had a Dodge Lancer many moons ago that was weird in reversing. It was low on transmission fluid. So I'm guessing the same with my MB
Is this true for a Mercedes R350 as well 2006
Thank you very much
What dip stick is that beside the transmisson. Dip stick anyone know
On this one and many models it's just a cover they don't put a dipstick. For checking engine oil level. You need to buy a dipstick. Yes pretty crazy. To discourage do-it-yourselfers.
engineer. I have a mercedes benz E 211. I have a problem in the automatic transmission, there is no drive and reverse
Samuel Portillo check oil level in tranny. Just called dealership for tranny oil change, and they have quote me 430$ with tax. They say 1.8 hrs of labor.
Is this the correct information for a 2006 CLK 350
Curious if the service tool (dipstick) is the same one I have for my C230?
Jeeezus. There’s 20 blokes with hammers trying to escape from inside that engine 😱
Dumb ass it’s a diesel. Jeeziz Christ are there really this many dumb fucks
@@ruaml69 Its not diesel have a good look before flapping ya gums
My 3230 sport does not have this .
I have a 2010 C300 4matic, whenever I start climbing a hill, it makes a hard shift and a clunk sound. Any advice?
It would be normal for it to downshift when you enter a hill and step on the gas to maintain speed. But the clunk has to be diagnosed to know for sure that sounds like a rough downshift or could even just be engine or transmission mounts.

From where did you get the measuring stick... ?
Added Link in Description section above.
where you get the dip stick from?
SCOTT CUTLER
Make sure ur battery valtage is right
FYI - This Athula D UA-cam link has been terminated
will this work for a 2011?
is this accurate for a c280 from '95??
Hi it’s w220 s500?
how do you free the cap in the dipstick hole
i have a 06 clk 500 i cant seem to find this plug ??
Where is this on a 08 cls550
i dont have any of that on mine
Thanks
Explain to me why would you read the cold mark in the bottom. When it’s cold there should be more fluid in the pan . When it’s hot there should be less fluid . I want to hear this !
You need to drive the car for about 20 mins minimum to warm up the transmission ATF oil to 80c, this is the correct temp to check it at.The engine needs to be running and set in P ( Park) with the handbrake on while checking the level. The level should be between upper min-max marks on the dipstick. The lower min-max marks on the dipstick are for checking the oil when it's cold. But checking when it's hot is the correct way.
Transmission fluid expands that's why when it's hot there's more.
What's with the "handbrake" thing though? Never understood why that would be necessary.
What's that tapping like sound coming from engine mine sounds the same and I can't find what culprit!!!
Lion Heart oil
Lion Heart its supposed sound like that, that clicking sound is normal
it's difficult not to have a joke here!
beniaminsg I’m starting to believe it is I’ve checked everything I could possibly check cylinder misfire, bad valve stem or seal ect only answer I get when I google the issue is exhaust tapping against something...I’m done lol
Litter
ebay 7-8 bucks for the tool
Awesome, thank you.
I have a 2006 CLS 500 8CYL W219 and that Transmission fluid cap is not back there, and I went and ordered the dipstick, fluid, and cap locks already, Where is mine located? Please Help!
Lambosamm ... No transmission dip stick on CLS500... I damage my motor last year when i pour transmission fluid in the back.... That tube in the back runs direct to the oil pan!!!!! I had to buy another motor.
Thanks RackAMillion, yea I just found that out, sorry about your car, Only on the 722.9 trannys, This really sucks!! The car needs to be up on a lift and pumped fluid in from the bottom.
can't find it on 2012 c300
what happened to the red locking tab you pushed in?
Probably fell in because I was wondering the same thing and he only pulled the O ring. Hope it fell to the ground but it probably won't get through that tube anyway
Exactly wondering the same thing did that fall down tube into the transmission pan which could damage parts? What is the proper way to remove the red tab without it falling in ?
The red tab does not fall into the tube
Can you add the transmission fluid through the dipstick?
SuperSammy1977 yes
jack T thank you
Not very good on instructions...I understand..pls consulate the maintenance Manual for assistance!
Benz made a simple thing to complicated
I agree, I think it is their MO - make everything as complicated as possible. meh
Thank you, does this apply to a 2016 Sprinter 2500 2.1 Diesel too?
I tried to push the dipstick down but couldn’t go through it. Something inside (a few inches near top of the port) stopped the stick. Do you have any idea what it is? Thank you.
If you have the same stick he is using it should stop and have extra for you to grab , when stops it means you reach the level port at the valve body and then when you retrieve the stick thats the level the transmission has
Will this work on a 2007 gl 450?
Up range 80 means is 80 mm from bottom of stock ?
Marius Negrean means 80 degrees
muhamedugarak no it's 80 on dipstick 67-77 at operation temp and normal op temp is around 150-160 f
transmission line clips
What about for the cl500 02 year?
It’s in the back, same location, same process. I know because I own a 02 cl55.
Engine supposed to be running .?
Yes in park. There are two on the dipstick, transmission cold and transmission warm. It's better to check it when warm, around 80° C
Yes running while the transmission is in park. It's better to check it while hot at around 80° C. That's more accurate when looking at the dipstick on the 80 degree range
does the engine need to be running when checking the fluid
+Pinoi Ryder Yes.
in what gear neutral i get the good measurment in the 80 range... is that what you did cycle through and stop in neutral shift.
Nice
Now that is not mentioned on any UA-cam videos I've seen so far
Now that is not mentioned in any UA-cam videos I've seen so far
more specific title would be helpful. this doesn't work on the S500.
The video doesn't specify what year and model Mercedes this is. Useless to me. I opened my engine cover (2011 GLK350 4Matic) and saw a black cap that may be the transmission fluid level access tube but I'm not sure and don't want to cause damage. Disappointed there is NO VIDEO on 2011 GLK transmission level check. This video only helped me locate the general area and to know to remove the engine cover. Otherwise no use for me.
Totally wrong and misleading video .. you don't need the car to warm up for 10 mins, you need the transmission fluid to reach 70-90 degrees before you can do that, it can take 25 mins or 40 mins in some cases .. it has nothing to do with the engine temp.
Why are you taking off the cover while the engine is running, never do this ever while the engine is running , people, DO NOT DO THIS!
You ARE SUPPOSE TO check the transmission fluid while the engine is RUNNING!
My dumbass measured it at the fill port smh
New movies
Nice bot comments saying that the video is good .
Horrible video , barely can hear anything
Doesn't explain any steps or tools used
Doesn't show how to add more fluid
And even more problems that I am not gonna mention
Can I check my 2002 cl500 like this ?
While the engine in running?
Yes
Toujours Louis , une transmission automatique se vérifie avec le moteur en marche.
is this the same for a 2010 ml350?
Did you ever find out? I'm wondering the same. Also need to figure out my 06 S430 4matic.
