- This video explores the real-world theories associated with these films; Nineteen Eighty-Four, The Matrix and The Terminator film series.
Take the Red Pill and consider how these three stories teach and warn about dystopian worlds that I think, could all fit together in one neat timeline. I consider the real-world theories including cybernetics, artificial intelligence, economics, emergence, complexity, panpsychism, game theory, free-will, systemic control and choice.
Are Neo and Winston Smith from 1984 an echo of the same character or archetype questioning the system? We'll know more about Wachowski's intentions when The Matrix 4 is released in 2021. But until then, consider this fan theory.

If you read the 1984 book, you must have noticed that a major and recurring philosophical theme of it is about the question of whether matter determines mind or vice versa. That's what 1984 is really all about and that's of course also what The Matrix is all about. Except that they have opposites stances on it. In 1984 the bad guys have the stance mind over matter (aka absolute idealism) and the good guys question that. But in the Matrix it's flipped around with the absolute idealists being the good guys.

I was glad you drew at least some distinction between these connections and the meaning intended by authors.
The Matrix was set in the control system of AI vs humans, but the control system it is ABOUT is gender. (And once you know what to look for it is anything but subtle. Only the machines refer to Mr. Anderson, and that subway fight sequence where he responds with "my name is Neo"? In a particularly dark moment one of the Wachowskis aborted a plan to commit suicide (by jumping in front of a subway) after a stranger made eye contact.
I cannot imagine how bizzare it must have been to watch the political trajectory the term 'redpill' took (imagine some of the antifeminists discovering that the red pill is estrogen).
Yes, I actually wrote most of the script before the Wachowski's made the statement confirming the transgender allegory. I still think that the intention was that the same allegory of seeing the world differently (through self transformation) can be used with lots of different social issues.
But yeah, "My name is Neo!!" has powerful connotations when you see it that way.

Shows what could be seen as the actual making of the matrix and the texh to connect to the human brain.
Also deals with time travel, meaning it gives context to the Oracle and the architect powers of foresight.
