You, Shilo, and Shedeur remind me of my own nephew Jared Hill from Concord HS in Delaware who unfortunately was murdered in Baltimore just 3 years after graduating high school. He was headstrong, passionate about football and winning in life, but lost his life while visiting a friend in Baltimore city where I was teaching elementary school at the time during the pandemic in 2020. I did not want him in Baltimore - I felt and knew it was not safe, but he did not listen/understand why I urged him not to be in this city when we spoke about it in March and April 2020. By May 2020, his beautiful life and light was taken from our family and world and i was heartbroken and devastated, but God! The Enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy and while he aimed his arrow to do this in my family's life while I was shining God's hope and light to the youth there - he does not have the victory over my life and destiny, or my nephew Jared's life! We are children of the Most High God and by God's Grace we overcome and walk in victory although my nephew is walking in heaven. Please remain teachable at every age - no matter how old or grown you are and listen to your elders, especially the ones who love you, care about you, and have shown you over the course of your life that they have your best interests at heart! Don't allow ego/pride to get in the way. There is safety in a multitude of counselors. No girlfriend or relationship or break-up or anything is worth your precious life. Please stay focused on your future - education, career path, opportunities, and so on so you can continue to pave a way for your little brother and the generations that are following behind you! I'm so proud of you! You are responsible for the choices you make, not anyone else's feelings, emotions, or decisions. Be a good steward over your mind, body, spirit, finances, choices. When in doubt or unsure or anything, don't be afraid to ask for help and if your go to cannot help you - go to someone else you trust. Build a team of go-getters on their own journey and who make good choices, have character, and fear God around you. The rest - family, friends, teammates, or associate - release them to God and love them from a distance, especially if they cannot see the bigger picture and are not building on their own life journey. Children are a beautiful gift from God that deserve the attention and care and love, protection from both parents. Do your best to wait before bringing them into this dangerous world before you are ready to be a Father and provide a great life for them. Grow into the man God called you to become, first. Ok I'm sorry to be longwinded, that is the aunt and teacher in me. I'm sending you Travis, Shilo, and Shedeur and your families so much love!
