I like both versions of this song, this is the version i heard on the radio and which led me to buy the album. Sting is a genuis and not too shabby to look at either :)))

for sure, but this 4/4 version has the advantage of different feels with the double time/half time changes around 3:30 onwards. Ideally, the song should be 7/8, with perhaps a 4/4 chorus thrown in at the end, just for variety.
I like this version - the cd version is overproduced - his songs were work best in very minimal orchestrations - his flawless songwriting and the way his voice transports emotions! But still - Mercury Falling is one of his best albums and I never go anywhere without it!

It been arranged in 4/4 so the chord phrasere an extra beat longer (8) so it feels a bit stretched if you've heard the original, which is in 7/4
