    love how peaceful you sound while making this recipe. im not a cooker because as a child i was raised by my grandmother who is a serious chief. Her food is amazing but she doesn't like mess ups so i didnt take to cooking. now that i have a child and the holidays are coming i will be truly trying to cook. this recipe looks simple, reminds me of home and is love based. love it. Thank you so much.

    My mom and especially Aunt Essie made this recipe back in the day! Now I've taken over the reign by making it from scratch. They don't know how much better it is instead of the pudding way. Loving it! Good to see that we still have some old school out there showing the young ones how to make it happen 💖

    My grandmother made it like this. My Dad likes it when it's still warm, but personally I think it's better after its refrigerated overnight and the banana flavor sort of soaks into the pudding.

    Meso, You make your banana pudding the way my mother made her banana pudding and that is the way she taught me. It looks delicious. I remember the Watkins products. The used to come to the house to sell their products. Many people do not put the meringue on top but that makes it beautiful and good. That is the way I was taught to make icing for my homemade cake. Great job!

    • @MesoMakingIt

      Oh my ...... Minnie! Way too many eggs for me and butter helps to make the pudding smooth and creamy a little flour thickens the pudding. Never heard of waiting 1 to 2 days. That never would have made it in my house. I'm sure yours is good and thank you for sharing it with us all. Be blessed.

    My mom was from Mobile Al, hers was like this with three exceptions: she didn't add the meringue; she didnt use the lemon extract; she didn't bake it, we made it the day before and refrigerated over night. to let all the flavors meld. Otherwise the same. How wonderful to see someone make a proper custard instead of using pudding mixes! I enjoyed this so much, i watched mom make it so many times but she's been gone now for 13 years and i forgot how she made the custard. I have her recipe but it didn't explain how to do something she did so many times. Her pudding was thr festured item of many holiday dinners and birthday celebrations and the bowl came back from many church potlucks totally empty.

I have downloaded your video in case it is loss and linked it on my website. • @MesoMakingIt
      @MesoMakingIt  7 років тому +4

      Hey Tushae, so now I see you are old school for real if you know and respect the Watkins name. Honey, that's all my grandma used. (Side Note: not food related but do you remember the old red liniment and also the ointment that worked magic on folks skin sores and animals too?) Pricey back then and now too but so worth it. Some people have only ever had the instant Banana Pudding you describe. SAD!! Some people actually prefer it. YIKES!!! I enjoyed your comment, Tushae. Thanks for watching and be blessed.

      My great aunt used them even the potato salad seasoning LOL. Do they still sell the seasonings? I sure would love to get some vanilla extract

    • @MesoMakingIt
      @MesoMakingIt  7 років тому +9

      Oh yeah, I just bought the big 11 oz. bottle of vanilla extract on Saturday. I got mine at a produce/stand store where they have all kinds of old school stuff even white dirt and yellow root, Red Rock ginger ale, mary jane, squirrel and chic o stix candy ... etc. But lots of other people sell it. You can even go to Amazon or Watkins website (www.jrwatkinsproducts.com) if nobody in your neck of the woods sells it. Thanks sweetie, blessings.

    Thanks again Meso

    • @MesoMakingIt
      @MesoMakingIt  7 років тому +1

      Hey there Sweet & Natural Laddie, now you really know your Watkins stuff when you can tell me you know about the tea made from Lineament and spell lineament correctly too! That stuff would knock out the worst of coughs and colds. We also would get a drop or 2 on a half teaspoon of sugar. Once my uncle had an old dog that developed a very bad cough and wheeze. Uncle mixed the red lineament in his water and that dog stopped the cough and wheeze and lived another few years. I don't know if the formula is the same nowadays that stuff might kill you. Thank you SNL and be blessed.

    • @yolondatyson1929
      @yolondatyson1929 7 років тому

      Mrs. Meso, interesting! Who would of imagined it working for even the dog, the poor soul, but however I'm glad Unc. was able to enjoy a few more years with him. I would love to know if the same formula is still functionable truth be told because if it was made just right it pleased the pilot and chest cavity also unlike these other brands out here on the market! And it actually works. I'm 45 now and remember this method like it was yesterday not to mention it goes along with a story I have myself about the lineament childhood (memories) think I'll run out and grab a bottle Menards carry the brand. Blessings to you luv!
