    There's a sad moment at 12:10, where the girl says "Either accept it or you're not welcome here, 'cause we include everyone." She clearly doesn't realize how she contradicting herself in a single sentence. We accept "everyone", as long as they believe what we believe.

    This is not fair, I was transgender for many years and I happen to play volleyball, I was asked many times to play at a very high level in women's leagues, I never accepted those invitations because I knew I had an inherently unfair advantage. Sometimes certain choices open new doors, but they can also close other doors, those are just realities of life.

    There is a reason there are gender based separation in competitive sports,males are biologically stronger so how is this fair to the other females competing?
    This is taking the phrase "its a mans world" to another level.Instead of finding an actual space for trans individuals in sports, allowing a trans person to compete with biological females is unfair.Its not backyard sports just for fun,this is competitive,and a team that wants to win will take only strong players.If more trans athletes show up,wont more women lose their opportunities?Only biological gender should be considered in sports,otherwise its an injustice to the other people competing.

    Even if she lost some muscle after estrogen therapy, she is still benefits from her origin male body. For example, she may have lighter and smaller hip joint. By the way, the angle between pelvis and femur also affects athletes' performance and it is one of the reason why in average males run faster than females. I think estrogen therapy can't change someone's hip joint size, the angle of pelvis as well as height. To be honest, I don't think it's fair.

    see i am 100pct for lgbt equality. no doubt. but in sports i am not sure this is ok. there are factual physical developments a male goes through that a female doesnt which include muscular development, tendon strenght which hormones wont take away thus giving transgender athletes an unfair advantage. how many female to male transgender do you know that excel in sports? they are negligible compared to male to female transgender athletes

    • @desprinkhaan641
      @desprinkhaan641 7 років тому +14

      Actually, transgender woman need to have their testosterone levels equal to cis (thus not transgender woman)... and having quite a lot of transgender woman as friends, they all told me the same thing: once on Testosterone blockers and on oestrogene therapy they became a hella lot weaker, even when they still did sports. So yeah, probably that's she's about as strong as the average olympic woman.

    • @MmMm-og2cv
      @MmMm-og2cv 7 років тому +34

      Testosterone blockers does not take away everything. On average, men have longer and larger bones, which gives them mechanical advantages over women, since they have greater leverage, increased height and larger frames to support muscle. Their bones are also more dense, and they have tougher ligaments, making them less prone to sports injury.
      Since these physical and physiological factors give most men a clear competitive edge in sports, is it fair or even safe for biological males - with larger muscle mass, hearts and lungs and greater strength, acceleration and speed - to compete against girls and women? And the olympics is the worlds biggest sports competition, do you even know how hard it is to compete in it. The avarage olympic woman can wipe the floor with these collage students.

      What's your point? Of course there are shorter men and taller women, I am also a 5' 10" guy, but that has NOTHING to do with transgenders in sports. If you are a short guy who wants to play pro basketball, you are out of luck, because they only pick the tallest and strongest players to give their team the advantage. And if you are a 7' woman, you are also out of luck, because the best men's basketball players will beat the best women's players every single time. And if you chop off your male genitals and take estrogen, it doesn't make you a woman, it just makes you a low testosterone infertile man on hormones.

      Faiyez, the amount that compete is irrelevant. It takes one to beat another biological woman who did her best with what she was given, just to lose to a transgender woman with different/thicker bone structure and a more advanced muscular system. You've never been in the situation. You may not even be an athlete. The amount of blood, sweat, tears, and time it takes to be great is incomprehensible. When Chloe and her team takes down another team, those girls will be furious and heart broken and they will blame Chloe, regardless of how "progressive" they are. Because reality hits.

    I am 100 percent for Transgender rights, always will be. But as a volleyball player myself, I'm kind of in a gray area, I don't really know how to feel about allowing transgender athletes to compete with the gender they transition into. It's no question that she has technique, you can see when they slow down her snap in hitting and her bow and arrow in serving, but there's no changing that power. As good as a player that I think I am, playing against men is completely different, especially in volleyball. Hitting is all about arm strength and jumping. A man biologically has the advantage. Most of their hits go straight to the floor and quick too. Their serves are bullets. It takes a lot of training on the court and in the gym to get there for girls and some still can't achieve the things that she is doing almost effortlessly. I'm really sorry if this is ignorant of me and if it is, I'm open to learning what I'm not getting.

      She did say that when she started taking the hormones, her body started to turn more feminine. She lost most of her "man muscles", she got wider hips and started getting more fat in her body. You can clearly see her body is visually more feminine than masculine (with the exception of her height, which is not that much since I've competed against even taller women lol). I understand where you're coming from since I've seen men play, and they're on a whole other level. They're stronger and faster by default. But I honestly don't think they'd let Chloe compete if she had much of an advantage over the other girls. The hormones helped her change her body to be more feminine, and that includes her strength, so she's just as strong as most of the other girls. But I mean, that's just what I think lol I'm not an expert in biology or anything like that

    So, although yes her bone mass is different to biological females’, her position in volleyball also very much determines wether it is unfair or not. If she is a setter, all she’s doing is setting, and bumping to another team member, for them to attack. If she’s a libero, all she’s going to be doing is saving the ball, and being defensive. If she’s an attacker, then yes that’s where she’ll be at an advantage since as an attacker, you have to spike the ball as hard as you possibly can, so that the opposite team cannot hit it. If she’s a setter, her power really won’t matter, and she’ll be hitting the ball about 4-6 times every 3 mins. If she’s a libero, she’ll only be hitting the ball to other teammates and saving it, 7-9 hits every 3 mins. If she’s an attacker, she’ll be spiking the ball down, 8-10 times every 3 mins. I feel as if they should allow her to play, but put her on a more defensive role, such as libero. I’m a cis female, I’m on my school’s team and I’m an attacker, I wouldn’t mind if I went against a trans female, but that’s just my opinion.

    I am all for LGBT rights, but this is not right. Men and women are bilogically different and even after transitioning your body is biologically the gender you were born in. So competing as a gender you transitioned into makes you completely different from the rest of the field and gives you an unfair advantage. And mainly, if transgenders can complete without transitioning it's even more unfair, since their body is basically the opposite gender of the rest od the field, making a great advantage.

    I have nothing against trans men competing in the men's sports but this is completely different with trans women. The idea of women's sports is to give women a chance to be on the top like the men, so when you put this Chloe person on the women's team, you fighting against women's rights.

    Wow, do any of the commenters even play women's college sports? I do, and as long she's on hormones there's NO COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. There are all sorts of different female bodies types anyways. So even one born female athlete might have an advantage over another due to height, body type and such. Lol, you all are probably sitting on your couches.

    Male priveledge is also the ability to become a woman and trounce the competition ... benefitting from a different frame and perhaps the self confidence that men are handed. This not a civil rights issue. Otherwise sport is just a kind of art or cultural expression primarily.

Like a trans athlete taking a biological females spot on a team and having the unfair advantages that male puberty gives to the human body. Or the danger for injury to other players because of the athletes added power.

    To everyone shitting on her, didn't you catch the part of the video where she shuts down that argument by mentioning how most of her muscles have melted away and that her testosterone levels are lower than a cis woman's?
    Also, if you guys are so smart - if she can't compete with women, and she's obviously not going to compete with men - is she just not allowed to participate in sports?

    • @Alecto44811
      @Alecto44811 7 років тому +25

    • @zoeyseely9912
      @zoeyseely9912 7 років тому +9

      Again, if you see this, her T levels are LOWER than a cis womans and she's lost all of her male muscles? Also, she's a woman. Don't say "the trans person compared to the women". She's a woman and to insinuate she's not is othering trans people quite hard.
      And again, you didn't answer my question posed - if she's "too strong or big" for the women, but clearly too weak for the men, is she just not supposed to compete in ANY SPORTS EVER? If so, that seems needlessly cruel.

    • @Alecto44811
      @Alecto44811 7 років тому +25

      Mate, he's a male, taking hormones doesn't make you female, if he were to stop all additional hormonal treatment he would revert back to the hormonal and biological activities that occur in males, because he is just that, a male. If you really think muscle mass and testosterone are the only differences in morphology and biology between males and females that make males superior at physical activity then there really is no use attempting to argue with you.
      And no, personally I don't, if he wants to transition and be a transwoman, absolutely fine, but accept it comes with limitations. Your 0.1% minority or whatever you are shouldn't impact female sports in general. And before you accuse me of being a transphobe, I have nothing against the trans community and would happily vote for basic rights, but I'm also aware of biology and how transwomen affect female spaces.

    • @zoeyseely9912
      @zoeyseely9912 7 років тому +6

      She ALREADY HAS TRANSITIONED. Did you not know this? Seems like you weren't paying too much attention to what actually was happening in the video. She also talked about how she's lost height and gotten wider hips as a result of the hormones. Do you think those are beneficial traits for a female athlete to have?
      And no, you act like you care about trans women but you don't. If you imply that trans women do not belong in women's spaces, let alone sports, you are by default implying trans women are not "real" women. That kinda makes you a transphobe. The sports argument is one thing, I'll give you that, but when you call this girl a man and he and say she shouldn't be in women's spaces...that is transphobic.
      I'm a trans woman myself. Do you wanna call me a man who doesn't belong in women's sports to MY face? Because I compete often with other women in karate all the time and we're on equal footing.
