- Who wrote Albinoni’s Adagio for strings & organ!? Not Albinoni. Watch and find out as Freddie from Libera does the most amazing solo.

I love this choir, all of them are amazing. I have watched many of their videos lately. This piece fantastic.
It’s a fascinating story. Now when I hear it I wonder how I ever thought it was baroque music!!
@@BangkokVoiceCoach ua-cam.com/video/WDye2ScMtIA/v-deo.html
My very first listen of this, a suprise, I wrote my thought it is clearly a Masterpiece. Freddies treble voice rides magnificent to bring melodic harmony of the strings accompanied by the distinctive voices of Libera. A wonderful arrangement, written with melodic thought.
Tell us about Freddie's life
His heavenly voice made me feel as if I could reach out and touch heaven.
I love your Libera reactions! I've been their fan for nearly two decades now ❤ I always enjoy when others are smitten as much as I am. This one send me out of this world.
This one is my favourite of theirs. Absolutely heavenly.
I cry every time. The lift into the clouds is amazing.
The more I think of it, this my favourite rendition of Remo Giozotto’s faux baroque masterpiece.
When I heard this the first time, this boys voice actually made me burst into tears, so pure and heavenly. Stunningly beautiful ❤
He’s great.
Cierro mis ojos y me dejé llevar y elevar por la belleza de la melodía altamente conocida y las voces de los niños.Voces cristalinas y angelicales❤❤❤
Thank you so much William for this reaction.
Your reactions are always so great. A lot of knowledge and emotions.
Unfortunately, there are only a few reactions to the songs of the fantastic
LIBERA choir. Now, christmas is coming. What do you think about reacting to LIBERA's stunning version of 'Carol of the bells' ? Over 26 million views ! Unbelievable harmonies !
And, as you know, there is an interesting story behind this traditional song too.
Greetings from Switzerland. Chris.
Thank you so much for reviewing this beautiful piece. Aren’t these boys wonderful? And how stunning is Freddie’s voice.
Wonderful. I need to research them more. Musical director/ founder & record producer….
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Sorry to be a nuisance, but I couldn’t sign off without drawing your attention to this gem: “Voca Me” (ua-cam.com/video/UsLxdcrH2DY/v-deo.html) has been performed at most Libera concerts across the generations. This particular performance was recorded live for PBS at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, Aug 2014. The descant is performed by a fan favourite from a generation ago and his name is *Thomas Delgado-Little*. If you get hooked on watching Libera videos, like I did, he will stick out like a sore thumb in that gen (2012-2015) mostly because of his range. I think he still holds the record for the highest note sung at a Libera concert.
Original director was Robert Prizeman, who unfortunately passed away due to Cov19. Former Libera singers are directing now, such as Sam Coates, Steven Geraghty, Liam Connery and Josh Madine
The boys have a very distinctive sounds. It’s marvellous that this is being kept, even after the sad death of Mr Prizeman.
@@MercurialRed9 Thomas Delgado Little
Again, my days as an Altar Boy, so blessed beyond my awareness during that time [having just overcomed challenges with Latin], I will take with me - FORVER.
William, I'd love to see your reaction to Dan Vasc, a Brazilian singer who recently made a big impact with a recent release of Amazing Grace. It's the most powerful and moving version I've ever heard. He seems to be able to transition vocal styles from classical to rock, to pop to Broadway. His 'Angels We Have Heard on High' is sung in 4 languages, and is absolutely stunning!
I heard this performance live back in December. It was well worth the cost and time of trip across the Atlantic.
"""Wow lovely. ♥️ 🙌
I think that Libera is the BEST boys choir in the world!!!!!❤
Thank you William, this is absolutely delightful.
I want the whole works to hear this. It is heavenly. This is the future of peace and love on the earth.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach 🙏✌Your words in the ears of our Lord!
I have gotten to see and hear Libera perform live on 3 different occasions. They just about knock you off your seat once they get on that stage and let loose.
Ha!! I’d love to see them perform. That “wall of sound” must be very thrilling.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach and after their concerts, you can meet them and get their autographs! I met them at their NY concert and they were all so nice and friendly! They couldn’t have been nicer!
@@ju2545 It is my understanding that the boys in this group are both nice to each other and to the public. It is something that they are encouraged to do as soon as they are made members of this group.
@@markpage9397since u acknowledged my comment, I have a funny story for u about something that happened after their concert in NY. After I took a pic with Luca, I think him and Mitchell were whispering about me lol. Cuz when I looked back, Mitchell was (possibly) looking at me (or he could’ve been looking at something else behind me but this was right after I took a pic with Luca) and he looked back at Luca and said something to him that I couldn’t hear. I wonder what he said 😂😂😂
This is the best of Libera's more recent pieces. The treble soloist is particularly well coached and has a magnificent voice. Have you listened to Winchester Cathedral Choir's rendition of Barber's Angus Dei?
I agree. I love this song so much that I can actually hit all the same notes on key with the same piercing strength as the talented Freddie at least for the first hour of singing along with the video. One day I will record it and and edit it altogether but his version is arranged very well...magnifico perfecto!
In heaven ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful
You look magnificent! I Love the room and the music and the voices of these young lads topped off by Freddy's which make this video reaction just beautiful! As always you are eloquent and full of information. I've heard Adagio performed by the best of singers and they are impressive but the classic renditions are absolutely my favorites. I do appreciate and enjoy this arrangement which lends an appropriate touch of freshness to this gorgeous piece of music. Thank you so much for this reaction!
Glad you enjoyed it. I must say this is my favourite Adagio performance of all that I’ve heard. ❤️
Oh this was so goooooood please, please more videos like this
Absolutely beautiful angelic music that melts the soul ..... always loved libera and watched the change of boys over the years but they always sound stunning
My favourite of Libera though will always be Sanctus
Which Sanctua do you like the most? They had multiple arrangements throughout the years.

It was one of the older versions from a few years ago ......from 12 years ago
Watching these fuys is amazing live anyone that hasnt get on their website and check out tour dates
Anche il Signore si commuove ascoltando la meravigliosa musica e le meravigliose voci dei ragazzi 🕊️♥️✝️🙏
Thank you so much, William, for putting into words so succinctly the feelings I have when listening to this beautiful music.
I am not sure whether anyone has commented previously, but Freddie Mushrafi and Malakai Bayoh are in the same school choir, Cardinal Vaughan Schola Cantorum, videos of which are on YT.
You may also notice that a number of other members of Libera are also in that choir, although not Luca Brugnoli, who was the top boy choirester in the BBC's choirester of the year in 2022.
As an aside, Libera is much loved by Alad Jones, with whom Malakai has performed a duet, as they sung at his wedding.
❤
I did wonder why Malakai himself had not joined Libera, but it’s likely because he already sings in his local church choir.
Libera is a huge commitment, takes up a lot of the boys’ spare time what with coaching, learning and recording new songs for albums and performances, perfecting established songs, rehearsals for concerts, music videos and tours abroad (Libera went to Korea, the USA and Japan in 2023 - their first trips abroad since before the pandemic). A small group of 10 went out to Japan in June before the full choir’s visit in October (that small group included Freddie, Freddie’s younger brother Thomas, Luca and Daniel White).
Somehow around a third of the boys in Libera are also in their school choir (CVSC), including some recent alumni who aged out of Libera over the last couple of years.
What with school, church and solo career Malakai would’ve needed to clone himself to have been in Libera too.
the BEST! this is my favorite classical song. ive heard hundreds of variations. this is hands down my favorite. Frederick Mushrafi just KILLS it!
Freddie is brilliant
William ( Guglielmo ), thank you very much. For those who came late to music, like me, your insightful analyzes of the history of songs are very very valuable. A warm hug from Italy.
Guglielmo, grazie mille. Per chi è arrivato tardi alla musica, come me, le tue analisi ricche di informazioni sulla storia delle canzoni sono molto molto preziose. Un caloroso abbraccio dall'Italia.
Thank you for the warm hug Roberto.
I just found these wonderful young men I am so happy now there music is so enlightening prayers 😊
It was a mistake (the sunscreen comment) I was enjoying this again, and thought I was posing a question on aBobbie Brown product youth. In any case, I am enjoying this again (listening to the piece, and then watching Coach watch it) I was just sending it to a friend also. So thanks for this.
Incredibly beautiful and purely sung
The laser purity of his voice is excellent.
The organ played at my grandfather's funeral, he was a quiet man because his father had wrongfully been in a Russian prison for many years because his last name was swedish. My grandfather was buried in Kauniainen in 2023

MERAVIGLIOSA MUSICA DI UN GRANDE GENIO ITALIANO TOMMASO ALBINONI
Stunningly beautiful!
Thank you for your reaction video, so much great information about this masterpiece.
🙏💙
It’s rather fascinating - when you dig deep, so much to find!!
So beautiful! This is the kind of music I've sung since college (almost 45 years).
I had some great fortune to attend a performance by Libera (pronounced with the short vowel sound of I not leebera or Liberia)
What I can tell you is that any recording is essentially some electromagnetism, a bit of copper some iron and plastic etc. and pales in comparison to when Freddy and the rest kick it off live.
There were a lot of empty seats available at the Bel Air Church on 08/03/023 so I would like to encourage everyone to network more and access schedules on Libera of the US online.
Thanks!
Thank you for this review
My pleasure! I find this piece of music fascinating (fabricated Baroque!) and the voices are lovely. - Will
Wow!
Awesome boys!
This would be heard on /entering through Heavens Gates ...
oh my what a voice i do miss the organ parts but i think that is where Freddie comes in..
i have over 40 versions of Adagio saved on my playlist ,it has haunted me since being theme from Galippolli in 1981 really interested to view this
I love libera very much
The coach! Came by this video after running across the performance featured here. I was looking for another version of it with voice. Can't wait to hear the assessment, facial cues from the coach are what? good or bad? OK now! I thought it sounded great but what do I know? Interesting everything, thanks.
Great review - try Libera's performance of 'Cum Dederit' next which also has a fantastic but different soloist.
Muito bonito.
This hymn sums up the life of Christ. It has led me to read Archbishop Fulton Sheen's classical work "THE LIFE OF CHRIST". IF YOU READ THIS BOOK, IT WILL BE REALLY RE REVEALING.
Thank you William, love your reactions so much! Would you review: Music for a while (Purcell) - The King's Singers & Jakub Józef Orliński, please. It's such a treat🎶
I think I’ve seen it. It’s a Zoom session. Lovely idea.
Tanti saluti dall'italia
Coach, you have helped me appreciate this, but I loved it before (although had to hear an expert tell me that's right?
Any way to buy a disk or tape?Thank you.
Hello from Vietnam ❤
Now you may chrck the masterpiece Lara Fabian created from it.
There are 2 Adagio versions: one in italian and one in english.
Here is the english version ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html that was later covered by Dimash, Floor Jansen, Il Divo, …
and even Dame Shirley Bassey covered it.
Sam Coates a former Libera singer, now director, did the arrangement
🙏thanks. Great job.
Детские голоса они чистые, не испорчены всей жестокостью настоящей современной жизни.
how does one use sunscreen with this?
i love looking at little freddie and hearing his voice, it's just so beautiful to see such innocence, especially nowadays.
Such laser directness in that voice. Uncomplicated. Like the easiest thing in the world.
Y LOS SUBTITULOS WILLIAN?
Done! 😊
While I appreciate the more historical/scholarly/technical aspect of the piece, I feel no performance can be judged upon it's writing only but the (interpretation of the) performance itself. I don't think enough people understand how difficult it is to get near "perfection" or "intent" of the composer or elevate it's expectations, but this performance -imho- is getting really (and I mean really!) near!!! (regarding my own interpretation) and this could not have been possible without a conductor having some idea of what to achieve. This is a product of multiple talents, truly.
Each and every generation, between and beyond, should try collectively attempt to preserve or rediscover this music.
One of the most precious inherences of humanity.
The piece is unusual in that it is not what people think it is. I recently saw a television programme in which the eminent scholar David Owen Norris said he thought Mozart had borrowed from Albinoni’s Adagio! Completely impossible as it hadn’t been written for another 200 years!! I adore this performance, the arrangement is immensely clever and the boys are wonderful. But it’s not really baroque music - and I think people should know that.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Thank you
@@BangkokVoiceCoach I have a question that I think you can answer. It's something I have only noticed now which I think would only emphasize the talent Freddie portrayed at this performance.
So when he sings, he's showing a lot of conentration, focus, facial expressions that accompanies that, but the detail I would like to point out is his skill of breathing techniques? His nostrels are really actively widening and closing (responding) as he sings, wether voluntarily or involuntarily... I think it's a result of some form of breathing technique training, because I don't think I would do that when singing. (I'm thinking Didgeridoo type of techniques here)
I'd be happy to "read" your thoughts on this? What can you tell/teach us?
I am still confused whose song this is. Albinoni? Remo Gizotto?
Definitely Remo Giozotto, pretending to be baroque.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Are you sure? How can a historian compose such a fantastic piece?
What has impressed me over the years I have listened to this choir since 2008, is the ability these soloists of Libera have been taught for breath and vibrato control is amazing! I did manage to travel to hear them one time live and was so put off by the venue they were in, it just was horrible acoustics and didn’t do them justice at all! It seemed like a cheap repurposed theater which was small and I was beyond disappointed. The boys performed very well but the venue just didn’t provide the “support” for such professional performers. It was near Chicago, but I was not impressed!
I’ve done performances in small near Chicago. Some are nice. There’s a famous old theatre in Joliet. The Libera boys’ solo abilities are amazing. Freddie in the Albinoni is stunning.
Luka and Freddie have dangerous voices.
There is standard choral arrangement, and then there is Libre choral arrangement. I do not have the vocabulary needed to describe the difference, but I know it when I hear it. Libre is amazing no mater what they sing, and they can do a standard choral arrangement just as beautifully as they do a Libre arrangement. William, you obviously have the musical vocabulary necessary to explain what makes the Libre sound, as opposed to standard chorus. Would you be so kind as to try explaining this in terms that an appreciative, but untrained listener can understand?
By the way, I think that Freddie is one chorister who may be able to keep up with Malakai.
I am in the same position as yourself in needing a professional to explain why Libera are a cut above other choirs in their arrangements.
Of course, Freddie is in the same school choir as Malakai, as I have commented below, although Malakai seems to be favoured for solos in their public performances.
I think Malakai has a voice of remarkable beauty and has very effortless and pure high notes. Freddie’s voice is a little less round at the top and a bit thinner overall. The full top notes make Malakai stand out. It’s terrific that the choir has such magnificent talent and draws from so many cultures.
Libera (not Libre, as you wrote) were set up by Robert Prizeman and still have an association St Philip’s Church, Norbury, South London. Their arrangements style was created by Robert, who is now deceased, and it’s success is that it is not too formal and classical. It is a softer, crossover style with elements of pop harmonies that help it reach a wider audience.
@@BangkokVoiceCoachFreddie hasn’t had as many opportunities in either of his choirs to show his range. Libera have mostly used him as a second treble, and I think it’s the same story for CV Schola Cantorum where he sings alongside Malakai. It’s the reason Libera fans who were lucky enough to hear Freddie perform this piece at Libera’s Christmas concert back in December were so blown away by his voice.
We came to the conclusion that he joined Libera at a time when there were already a few well established soloists, and by the time most of them aged out, he was already 13 years old.
However, Libera were in Korea a couple of months ago and fans were once again amazed by Freddie’s live performance, because although he began singing in lower registers than normal, he still effortlessly soared up into the God notes like a first treble.
He joins the likes of Libera alumni Ben Crawley, Dominik Clarke and the glorious descant specialist Thomas Delgado-Little in the “Sticking Out Like a Sore Thumb” ranks.😉😊
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Thanks for the explanation. I don't know why I keep getting the spelling of Libera wrong. I can't seem to shake that issue.
Why the name LIBERA? It's an ancient pagan name. In this circumstances turns blasphemous.
I don’t have an opinion on that.
Understandable; do to the fact that the Catholic Church is overwhelming with factuals against the scriptures. ( Idolatry, repetitions in prayers, obscurantism etc.)
The word means Free in Latin. It’s based on the fact that this choral group doesn’t limit itself to a particular sound like many boys choirs. Robert Prizeman always experimented with different types of music genres and sounds and did a lot of fusion.
You should also be aware that although Libera perform many religious pieces, they are not quintessentially a religious group. The original choir was made up of boys from the St Philip’s Baptist Church in Norbury, South London. In the 1990’s they became “Angel Voices”, and that’s when their sound broadened out. They became Libera in the late nineties and although many of the boys now come from Catholic backgrounds, Libera are non denominational, and are mainly described as a choral group rather than a choir.
@@MercurialRed9
Christianity was established by Jesus Christ; the Catholic Church was created by the Romans. In their mythology LIBER and LIBERA was a god of INCEST and FERTILITY. Can be a " coincidence " I'm a former Catholic by the facts founded in the Bible. I love Libera's performances specially for Christmas celebration.
God Bless.
Please just stop interrupting and let the Angles sing PLEASE You can talk all you want before OR after but please don’t interrupt, it’s rude.
I had such high hopes for you. I was hoping that you would wait to give your review at the end as many as many of the ones I follow do. But not only did you not do that you also interrupted one of the most famous and beloved pieces of classical music there is. For these reasons I won't be a subscriber but I still wish you luck in the future....
By the way the lead vocal in this piece is "freddie"❤
I would never watch something through from beginning to end without stopping. I trained at university to be a music analyst. You can watch the full video elsewhere. The singers are great, particularly Freddie Mushrafi, and the history behind the composition is fascinating. Most people don’t watch to the END of a video - statistically as low as 30% so the analysis must come early in. I am glad you haven’t subscribed because my channel is not for you.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach you're absolutely right it's channel is not for me. I did wish you well so no hostility is needed. All I did was give you my feedback. And by the way other channels I watch are experienced and talented vocal teachers but each hold back and write notes down and then review afterward I enjoy these more. I can read and write music play 14 instruments written over 150 original pieces was third seat cellist in the New York State Orchestra for 3 years and these days in my six and a half decade of life I am into the recording of my music and have played and recorded with national acts in the United States. So what I am saying is I am no novice when it comes to music and the intricacies of which include Dynamic and vocal range tone volume Equalization and mastering recorded pieces. While I dislike my voice very much I do work with people who have a great deal of talent vocally.
